I have Ptosis (Drooping Eyelid) which I think is very bad but my optomologist says I do not need surgery. If he doesn’t recommend it then it will not be covered by my insurance. Do you have any suggestions.

    Dear Ms. Novotny,
Ptosis correction is different from an eyelid lift, which is a cosmetic procedure. The appearance of droopy eyelids may be due to a problem with the function of the eyelid (ptosis) or from excess eyelid skin and fat. Sometimes both are present. Evaluation by an ophthalmologist or oculoplastic surgeon will help determine what surgery is indicated for you.

    Hi Katie,
You should be evaluated by an opthalmologist who performs the ptosis correction procedure. There are many in NYC. Insurance will sometimes cover this procedure.
