Good Morning, I just turned 58 on Thursday the 11th. Over the past 8 years or so I have noticed the skin above my eye’s are over lapping and making me look older, I am very self consciense about this, my mother had the same problem, I read alot about the different ways of correcting this, I know if I could afford to have this procedure done I would do it in a second, of course I would make sure I spoke to the surgeon first to answer my questions, thank you for allowing me to tell something personal about me, and something that makes me feel very insecure. Also I find I take all of my photos from a distance, and try to wear my sunglasses as much as possible because this bothers me so much, thank you again.

Thank you for asking about your eyelid skin. Yours is a common problem and usually easily corrected. Often the surgery can be done with local anesthesia in a minor operating room. There is little pain afterwards. At surgery, excess skin is removed and excess fat – if any – is trimmed. Best wishes.

My patients who come to me for blepharoplasty, state that family and friends are always asking them if they are tired. The excess skin which
begins to droop can cause problems with your peripheral vision. Blepharoplasty is the one surgery which truly gives you back that youthful appearance! Our blepharoplasty surgery runs $4500-$5000. Our consultations are at no charge.

The eyes are the windows to the soul. All too often, however, they seem to reveal exhaustion. The very delicate skin around the eyes tends to get crepey and puffy due to fatigue and stress. Eyelid surgery has become one of my most popular procedures. If excess upper eyelid skin is hooding the eye and needs to be eliminated, an incision is made in the crease at the top of the lid and excess fat and skin are removed. The incisions are closed and sutured on the underside of the skin.

An effective non-surgical option that might benefit you is Thermage, which can tighten the skin around the eyes. The new and improved Thermage is a virtually painless, non-invasive (no incision!) treatment that can tighten skin and stimulate your body to make healthier collagen—the building block that provides structure to your skin. Fast and easy, Thermage requires no downtime from normal activities.
