In order for insurance to cover an upper blepharoplasty (eyelid lift), most insurance companies require a visual field test to be done by an independent third party (who is not performing the surgery). This test is usually done by an optometrist or other eye doctor and tests whether your vision is significantly different when your excess skin is taped vs. untaped. We would usually get these results and submit this information to your insurance company (along with your other medical information) when we are requesting prior authorization for this procedure.
