Six months ago I had four abdominal hernias repaired with a 6×8 inch piece of mesh. After significant weight loss over the last 18 months, I would like to have a tummy tuck. Will the presence of this mesh limit the amount of muscle tightening that can be done and/or the success of the surgery?

Congratulations on the weight loss! Typically, having had abdominal hernia repair with mesh would not affect having an abdominoplasty or tummy tuck. You are correct, that the muscles are tightened with the abdominoplasty and the mesh would generally, not interfere with the tightening or the final result. Obviously, a consultation with a physical examination would be necessary to give you a definitive answer. Once again, congratulations on the weight loss and call (954)344-4344 if you would like to schedule a consultation.
