I viewed the show “The Doctors” in which there is a new Lipo procedure that not only takes out the fat for contouring but also tightens the loose skin at the same time. Is this a common practice now or something certain Drs would specialize in?

Plus the area I am wanting done is inside knee… had nice legs for years now in late 50’s there are fat pockets I can’t get rid of unless I get down to my youthful size of 95-100, I hang right at 112-115. Riding bike, weights, cardio and those pockets will get smaller but one go away. Is this an area that can be worked?

There are techniques which can be combined with liposuction in an effort to help skin tighten (e.g. ultrasound and laser). The ability of the skin to respond is often dependent on the body location and existing laxity. The best way to determine if you are a good candidate would be with a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. You would then get the best assessment if this approach would help. I believe they were talking about cool sculpting. That had been shown to POSSIBLY tighten skin. There are few (if any studies) on this. It hasn’t been studied on knees. I’m not sure that cool sculpting can be used on knees either. I have no experience with it. It is mostly used for abdomen and flanks. However, liposuction can be performed on the knees which targets the fat, however not much on the tightening. There is a laser from Sciton that over skin tightening may help some.

For this area we would generally recommend using SmartLipo, which is laser-assisted liposuction. That would offer some skin tightening along with the fat reduction. Of course, a consultation would be required to determine if you are a suitable candidate.

The device you are referring to is probably liposuction combined with a laser that can tighten the skin simultaneously. Not all surgeons have this device available to them. It does require training and experience like any other procedure. Some surgeons are avid supporters of this procedure, while others feel the cost is not worth the risk nor the results obtained.
