If you’ve ever had a Keratin treatment in a salon, you know it’s pretty fab. Keratin treated hair is sleeker, straighter, shinier and lasts up to a month. But, it’ll cost you–salons charge upwards of $250.
Now, nuNAAT (retail value: $24.95) has released a kit they say allows you to do this treatment at home. Was this product easy to use?
No. The gloss turned very tacky, sticky and stiff in my hair as I blow dryed and it left a horrible residue on my very expensive flat iron. I recommend having a friend help you with the styling process.
Did you like the smell of this product?
[It was] not noticeable.
Was your hair more manageable and easier to style after you applied it?
Not after I washed it out the first time. But, after the 48 hour waiting period, yes.
If your hair tends to be frizzy, was it less so after you used it?
Yes.

Have you noticed any other differences after you used it?
Yes. [My] hair does feel silkier and I am looking forward to seeing if it lasts 30 days.
Would you purchase this product for $24.95? Why or why not?
I would not purchase this product at $24.95. I can get a full keratin application at several quality salons in Houston for $150 and not have to deal with doing it myself. The salon application generally lasts me 60-90 days. Also, it is a bit disturbing to use the same shampoo that gets the hair “ready” for the treatment to “wash the product out” after the glossing and styling.
Would you recommend this product to other FOFs?
Maybe. If they have a friend that can help them do the styling, yes. If you have had a [keratin] salon treatment, you will be a little disappointed. It is very hard to get the same results, but if you are on a budget, it’s a good alternative.

Yes. It takes a little while because there are several steps, but it is much more convenient than spending two to three hours at the salon.

[It] definitely didn’t tangle as easily. Even after several shampoos, I noticed less tangling.

Definitely! Although, it’s a cumbersome process. However, I think I’ve figured out a way to deal with this–an old-fashioned “girl’s night in” with a couple of friends. We could have a few drinks, watch a chick movie and do each other’s hair blowout.
