18December   {Test This} Marula Oil

Slathering oil on your face may be counterintuitive but facial beauty oils have become a quick growing category--with many companies claiming that pure oil from nuts, flowers and fruit can work wonders on your skin. One of these, Marula oil, marketed and sold by Marula-The Leakey Collection, is extracted from the nuts of the marula tree, indigenous to South Africa.

The oil is superior to grapeseed and argan oils because it has higher levels of antioxidants and omega-9 acid, according to its manufacturers. They go on to say that an independent study found Marula oil to be 16% more powerful than Argan oil at fighting free radicals.

“This oil leaves skin soft and supple with increased elasticity and firmness for healthy, beautiful and age defying radiance,” according to the company’s website.

Is this snake oil or miracle oil? 7 FOFs will test it and report back.

One FOF will win. (See all our past winners, here.) (See official rules, here.) Contest closes December 26th, 2012 at midnight E.S.T. Contest limited to residents of the continental U.S.

I want to try this product for my 66 year old face with cascading wrinkles from sides of mouth to creppy neck skin! I believe in oils derived from plants. Have never heard of of this oil and offer myself as a test subject.

I’ve been to africa and the women have gorgeous skin. The marula tree also makes a wonderful liquour called Amarula Creme…and the monkeys eat the fruit and get drunk from it. funny youtube vids of this. I would love to test the oil…I promise I won’t drink it.

I would love to test this: I am a big fan of facial oils of various types, and use them religiously. Have been curious about this, also because of the Leakey Collection connection — the firm does very good things in Africa. Almost bought just to try, but stopped myself from spending and sought a way to sample, without success. Please may I test?

I have an arsenal of beauty oils, but so far, emu oil remains my favorite as far as actual results. I am just now hearing of this “marula oil”, & will be compelled to try it. Would love to have a chance to win it though! Good luck to all! :)

Don’t see how a topical oil would affect firmness and elasticity but hope springs eternal and so does an open mind.

    Yes Yes Yes!!!
I’ll do the test! My skin is dry, and I use straight cold-pressed grapeseed oil every morning after I shower. Something that’s superior to that, I’ve got to test!

I’m turning 75 this spring, and I am feeling ageless–on the inside. There are no guidebooks telling how we are “supposed” to feel! My skin is starting to show some wear and tear and I would like to look as ageless as I feel. So PLEASE let me try this Leakey product. I trust Leakey, I ‘ve studied about his work, and would happily be a tester.

Dry patches, peeling nose..these are not things that someone you share a meal with care to see…much less me in a magnifying mirror when putting on make-up! I do hope you will select me to try this new product out on my currently not so lovely face!

I have psoriasis as well as rosacea. The rosacea is not the rosy-cheek form most people think of when they hear the word. It is the dry skin, pimples, skin discoloration, awful stuff. I buy everything to try to help it. I would love to try this one but at least I can read the reviews afterward and know if it helped anyone…..or not. Thanks~

I’m positive that it’s a Miracle. The Leakeys are such a respected name, I can’t imagine them touting something that they didn’t truly believe in. And they have been interacting with local tribespeople for ages!! I am certain that they have learned a thing or two… I have tried the other oils, and liked them. BUT THIS ONE….!!! I have read about Marula Oil and it sounds very luxurious and that it really works to plump up and moisturize the skin and make it glow. It’s pretty pricey, but if it works and a little goes a long way, I could definitely see investing in it. I like argan oil, but don’t think that it’s the “holy grail” … at least not yet. Would love to compare the two.

Like any other product, various skin types, races and ages should try this because it may work extremely well for one and not at all for another, so that it can be determined for what age or skin type it is best for. I am a 50+ age Asian with oily skin and hope you would consider me for the test.

Definitely imagine that that you stated. Your favorite reason seemed to be on the net the simplest factor to take into accout of. I say to you, I definitely get annoyed while other people think about issues that they plainly don’t realize about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the highest and defined out the entire thing without having side-effects , other folks can take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
