Slathering oil on your face may be counterintuitive, but facial beauty oils have become a quick growing category–with many companies claiming that pure oil from nuts, flowers and fruit can work wonders on your skin. One of these, Marula oil, marketed and sold by Marula-The Leakey Collection, is extracted from the nuts of the marula tree, indigenous to South Africa.

“This oil leaves skin soft and supple with increased elasticity and firmness for healthy, beautiful and age defying radiance,” according to the company’s website.

Tell us about the packaging and application. Was this product easy to use?
It was packaged well with an easy to use dropper. However, it does dispense more than [the] 3 drops it takes to cover your face and neck. So, in the beginning I used an excessive amount of oil and used it up on my hands, arms, etc.

Did it improve your skin’s firmness and elasticity?
I do notice a difference in the improvement of firmness and elasticity after 10 days of use.

Was your skin more radiant after 10 days?
I did get a few compliments on my glow.

Is your skin softer?
My skin is softer and the lines have diminished around my eyes.

What was your overall experience with this product?
I was surprised at the lightness of the oil after using it. It absorbed well. The bottle is nice to hold and the amount is generous.

Would you purchase this product for $78? Why or why not?
Yes. I will continue to purchase Marula oil. I [have] used many products before that added up to more than $78. This is a high quality product.

I loved the look of the packaging. The gold box made it luxurious looking. The application was very easy to use.

After using this product for approximately two weeks, my skin was much tighter and it gave me a more youthful look.

I have received numerous compliments on how my face seemed to ‘glow’ after using the oil.

The packaging was attractive, the bottle has a unique dropper system that really helps the liquid to come out in amounts that are manageable.

Did it improve your skin’s firmness and elasticity?
I used for 10 days and did not notice any improvement in firmness or elasticity but perhaps if tried for more days a change would occur.

Was your skin more radiant after 10 days?
My skin was pretty much unchanged.

Is your skin softer?
Yes.  This oil soaks in quickly and leaves a softness that is noticeable.

What was your overall experience with this product?
I like this product, it has a pleasant aroma and soaks into my skin quickly leaving a nice, soft feeling.  No age-related benefits as of 10 days of use, but perhaps over time.

Would you purchase this product for $78? Why or why not?
The price seems a bit high for a facial oil with limited results.  Other facial oils have a more reasonable price for similar results.

Would you recommend this product to other FOFs?
I would recommend as a dry skin or softening solution, with no promises for age-related improvements.

The packaging is simple but attractive. The application was easy to use. I especially liked the drop-style applicator.

I didn’t notice an improvement in my skin’s firmness, but noticed elasticity and overall softness.

I didn’t see a more radiant appearance after 10 days but I felt my skin was definitely less dry.

The box the product came in was attractive and sturdy. The oil is applied by a dropper. [It has] a nice design, but the instructions said [to apply] two to three drops, which was way too much oil for the face. [It] took awhile to get the right amount figured out.

I’m not sure [that] I noticed a difference, but I like how my face didn’t feel dry at all, yet the oil, when used sparingly, didn’t leave it feeling greasy.

I can’t see a difference.

It grew on me. I am very pleased [that] I got to test this product and will probably purchase another when this bottle is gone.

[It had] nice packaging and [was] easy to use, though I did not find any instructions on [the] box or enclosed.

The bottle was easy to open, but I found that sometimes it dripped off the dropper before I could get in on my face.

It did improve the elasticity but I didn’t notice a difference in the firmness.

[It was] probably too radiant, as it made the oily parts of my combination skin almost greasy looking.

No, because although it did make my skin feel softer, I did not like the noticeable film it left on my face.
