{Test This} Know Your Ingredients Sweet Almond Oil

Long lists of beauty product ingredients don’t impress us. What does: this Sweet Almond Softening Oil (retail value: $20) that literally just contains “sweet almond oil” in its ingredients…nothing else. Okay, okay…we lied, it also contains essential oils of orange, mandarin and ginger grass, but that’s purely for scent.

Made by a company called Know Your Ingredients which boasts “minimally processed, whole food” skin products, the Sweet Almond Oil “helps aging skin because it eliminates impurities and removes dead skin cells while refining the skin’s structure and stimulating cell renewal,” according to the company.

The oil also “prevents skin from becoming dry, itchy and flaky,” and is “easily absorbed.” Furthermore its makers say it is a “very good anti-inflammatory,” and  can “ease itching and irritation caused by psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and sunburn.”

Will you go nuts over this almond softening oil? 10 FOFs will try it.

To enter, leave a comment below telling us which scent you would most like to try: Chamomile lavender, orange mandarin, litsea cubeba or unscented?

10 FOFs will win. (See all our past winners, here.) (See official rules, here.) Contest closes April 3, 2013 at midnight E.S.T. Contest limited to residents of the continental U.S.

The idea that this oil refines skin structure and stimulates cell renewal is very appealing to me and of course the proof is in the pudding. So many products make great claims (which very often don’t live up to) but I’m always willing to try but if it’s not doing what it claims I simply won’t purchase again.

But I do like the idea of an oil and putting it on skin that is wet and perhaps it will surprise me! litsea cubeba plz…

I would love to try & have to test the “Chamomile Lavender” scent in the Sweet Almond Softening Oil.
Chamomile is an antiseptic, antibacterial, & is often valued for its anti-inflammatory properties and is used in skin care products. It calms the skin.
For minor skin irritations, lavender oil, has been known to alleviate burns, bug bite itch and on an injured area to reduce bruising.
Both oils have calming and relaxing Aromatherapy properties.
Maybe with this combo, I will be able to kiss sleepless nights & itchy dry skin goodbye!

This Sweet Almond sounds like it would be very beneficial for many ailments I have been experiencing: Extremely dry skin, bouts of inflammation, delayed absorption, no elasticity, and just plain dull looking and irritating feeling skin. No matter how often I lotion. I would have to choose either the ginger grass or the orange mandarin, if given the opportunity to test this product, as I do like a fragrance but was never fond of lavender. I really like the idea of the entire product line, even the name (which says it all) sounds like something many knowledgeable shoppers would look for these days

Just went to a baby shower (friend’s grandbaby) with my best friend of 50 years and we were told by another long-time friend about Coconut Oil. (Which we then went in search of as soon as the shower was over…it’s in the FOOD section, for crying out loud. You can pop popcorn with it!) My bestie, Jane, used the coconut oil and sarcastically told me she looks 10 years younger. Right? So, us 55-year-olds are always looking for something that is natural AND moisturizing…we hate putting chemicals all over our body. Last week I could not sleep because my dry legs were so itchy. I could be a GREAT tester. Just sayin’. As I like to slather myself before bed, Chamomile Lavender sounds enchanting. That and I don’t even know what litsea cubeba is…are?

Several things have given me about 80 percent relief in really itchy scalp. I really feel compelled to tell you, it is such a miserable problem. These changes are:
      1. A hair cleanser that does not have sudsing.
      2. A professional moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.
      3. A product which contains peppermint oil, tea tree oil, or eucalyptus oil. These can be alone or in combination.
      4. Wash hair only several times a week.
      5. I also stopped switching products constantly.
      6. Check with QVC for a nice non-sudsing hair product.
I do hope that one of these suggestions helps, and that you have also checked with your doctor.
