Carmen Marc Valvo is giving away glasses to four lucky FOFs. The winners can choose any pair of optical or sunglasses from this season's line. Enter to win by answering in the comments below: Do you have good eyesight?
How has a 40-something male fashion designer become the go-to eyewear designer for FOF women? Just ask Carmen Marc Valvo. From the day he launched his line, in 1989, his designs have been a hit with FOFs, including Iman, Oprah, Jessica Lange and Kim Catrall. Perhaps it's because Valvo got his start as a ready-to-wear designer for Nina Ricci, who started her wildly successful clothing line at age 49.
Carmen also knows what FOFs want, because he surrounds himself with them--Vanessa Williams is a long-time friend who he partnered with in 2008 on a public service campaign about the importance of colorectal cancer screenings (he was diagnosed with the disease in 2003). In 2005 he joined Katie Couric and the National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance (NCCRA) for the Be Seen, Be Screened campaign.
Valvo launched his eyewear collection in 2007, with an emphasis on glasses that transition from day to evening. "I wear and work with the brand because it fits my lifestyle," says FOF Renee Edelstein, Western Regional Sales Director for the company. "I can go from casual to formal and my eyewear works for both."

Do I have good eyesight? Not anymore. The good thing about that is- when I’m putting on my makeup I think I’m looking pretty-good. Now my hearing is not so good either but at least I can’t hear people saying that I don’t look “pretty good” so it’s a win-win situation for me. I’m a happy girl!
My eyesight has gotten progressively worse in the last two years – I’m farsighted – so it affects all the things I love to do – reading, using computer (also my work), making jewelry, counted cross-stitch, etc. I would love a stylish pair of glasses or sunglasses as I always just get what’s cheapest because of our financial situation. I truly would love a pair that would serve as both!!!
I am very near-sighted, and have worn glasses all my life..since 8th grade, anyway..I really hate my current glasses I’d love some help finding a new frame..the current ones I have are making me look like an old lady..older lady..much older!!
My eyesight is fairly good so I do not always wear my glasses unless driving or absolutely necessary to read small print- I would wear them more often if I had some cool frames, not the ones covered through my insurance!
Do I have good eye sight? Not by eye doctor standards, but my sight brings me rainbows, blazing autumn leaves, the dimpled smile of my best friend, my cat curled in a cozy ball with flickers from the fireplace on his tabby coat. Yes, I have perfect eye sight.
The older I get the more I feel I need to depend on readers….Would be nice if they were fashionable!
Not great eyesight. Looks like I have to depend more on reading glasses now….I’d like them to be fashionable if possible!
I had to get distance glasses when I turned 40. Then I needed reading glasses about 5 years later. Now, my distance vision is good without glasses (?!?) but my reading Rx is getting stronger – ugh!
I am a huge believer of taking my vitamins everyday calcium, D, etc. I also love to take a beautiful dark purple Lutein soft gel for my eyesight (for about 4 yrs now!! So I have my annual visit with the ophthalmologist and he remarks that my vision seems to have gotten a bit better!! WOW! How wonderful at 60 yrs old! I mentioned that I take the Lutein every day and his comment was “Oh I don’t think that has anything to do with it!” Well I would beg to differ!! Here’s to good vision, beautiful eyes and rockin’ CMV eyewear to go with it! Barbara
No I wish I did!
I started wearing glasses in my early forties and had cateract surgery in both eyes when I was forty eight. I now have great vision long distance, but have to wear glasses for reading. I love these glasses and I feel if it is necessary to wear them I should have fun doing so and wear something I like.
These are so lovely. My eyesight is no longer perfect so I would appreciate these.
Hmmm am I typing the rightbletters? I do not have good eye sight. I need new glasses in a serious way. I am having my eyes checked the first week in Dec and boy would I look great advertising you great looking glasses. They are very stylish and just right for me. Thanks for reading my post.
Well. . . I have to say it ain’t what it used to be! I have a job that puts me in front of a computer monitor doing medical transcription for at least 8 hours 5 days a week – and then, of course, in my off time, there is Facebook. My eyes are subjected to a lot of strain and squinting (not good for the wrinkles either!), and I definitely do have to wear computer glasses and have for some time now. However, I think it is probably time to check into a pair of glasses to wear in other areas of my life – TV watching, reading labels when shopping, and, last but not least, driving.
I need sunglasses and love to be outdoors.
Never go in the sun without sunglasses and at 50 had to get perscription reading glasses so Yes I have have great eyesight
Have worn glasses since 4th grade, mainly a contact-wearer so any kind of sunglasses works for me! People come up to me in stores asking me to read things for them and I can so I must not be too bad off….
Yes, I do wear glasses and have since I was in high school. I rebelled for several years but during college I realized they did improve my life and I let go of the “nerdy” label (glasses were not highly thought of by ANYone in those days!).
I’ve advanced (with age, of course!) to trifocals and now that I’m retired, bifocals are perfect. Over the years I’ve loved my Laura Ashley glasses the best, sat on more pairs than I care to remember, left one favorite pair in the front seat pocket of a plane (never to be returned!) and another pair in a movie theater! So far I’ve refused to wear one of those “around the neck” glasses holders, though I guess it might be helpful. I’ll do it one of these days…not ready to take that “old lady” (in my mind!) step, yet!
The older I get (and I wake up thankful to God for each new day) the more I “see”, with or without glasses. I try to focus on the little pleasureful things in life, birds singing, yellow leaves floating down the creek, an orange cat curled up in my lap sleeping. I see that forgiving is way easier these days…life is too short to let anger get in the way of living and loving. I’m blessed to be able to read lots of great books, a joy in my life. I am blessed to be able to Skype with three grandkids in Washington State and one precious two-year old granddaughter in Maine, all from our little home in Oregon…technology is so wonderful!
I didn’t mean for this to be so lengthy. It’s just that I am grateful to be blessed with healthy eyesight, glasses that help me see and an open heart and mind that help me to see even more. My life is fabulous! It’s not perfect, mind you, with chronic health issues that I live with but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
God has blessed me with good vision, both physically with my glasses and from my heart, always.
I need reading glasses and love to be outdoors.
I have good eyesight and do wear glasses for reading. I must wear sunglasses out as my eyes have always been sensitive to the sun.
My eyesight is constantly changing making it hard for me to wear my first choice of contacts so I would love a stylish pair of frames.
Yes, pretty much but sometimes I wish I didn’t see some of the things I do.
I’m thinking with those sunglasses, I will channel my inner Diane Keaton.
Bring them on!
