18January   {Giveaway} An FOFoolproof scarf from Liscaro

Lisa Devereaux of Liscaro is giving away one of her FOFuss-free scarves. Enter to win by answering in the comments below: What is your favorite way to wear a scarf?

In 1987, when FOF Lisa Devereaux was a young commercial production assistant, she came across an idea that stuck with her. "A company had produced a square scarf with a slit on the end of it, so you could pull it through and not have to fuss with tying it," said Lisa.

Years later, remembering what she had seen, Lisa sewed something similar for her grandmother, who had arthritis. "She'd always wore scarves, but was having a hard time [tying them]. I made it less square so it had a softer look and added elastic to the hole."

Lisa showed her prototype to a few store owners in the Dallas area who put in orders right away. She brought it before QVC reps who ordered 5,000 on the spot. Shortly after, in 2010, Lisa put her interior design business on hold, hired a seamstress to help her, and began working full time on Liscaro, the new name for her scarf business. "I had a waiting list of clients for interior decorating, but I farmed them out to other decorators and make this my sole focus."

"All you do is thread it through," is the catchphrase for Lisa's FOFuss-free scarves, which have an elasticized "eye" at the end for easy tying. (Watch this great video tutorial, where Lisa demonstrates all the ways to wear them.) The scarves come in silk and silk-blend, but primarily polyester, which Lisa says is wrinkle-free, good for traveling and washes well.

Lisa is already hard at work on her next product: the Riviera Wrap. "It has the same elasticized eye, and you can wear it as a cape, pareo, sarong, shawl, dress and a shirt," she says. "Everything I create has more than one use. Lisa tells us something she hears over and over when people see her scarves is...'why didn't I think of this?'...begging the question...why didn't we think of this?

I have a small collection of scarves and wear them many ways. I haved tied them like neck ties, draped them around the shawl collar of a suit, worn them as belts with a rosette tied into them, “braided” long ones around my neck, and other ways. There is nothing like a pretty scarf to brighten an outfit.

Like European women, I wear scarves almost daily in whatever tie seems to fit my mood and the outfit, sometimes just tied to the handle of my purse.

Living in Colorado where the weather changes frequently, I’ve recently discovered the joy of wearing scarves. I’m totally not proficient by any means yet. This scarf would certainly assist my fashion endeavors! Thank you! It’s beautiful and innovative.

I’m not very good creating new and different ways to wear a scarf. I simply drape it under my lapels on a jacket and let it hang or tie a loose knot low on the scarf.

I have a pamphlet on scarf tying so I try different looks. I do like braiding it & wearing it as a necklace.

It depends on the length of the scarf. Longer scarves I take and place around the front of my neck then wrap around and drape over the front of my shoulders. Usually one side is slightly longer than the other.

I usually double it, then wrap it around and loop the ends through. This is my favorite way to wear a scarf, especially in the winter.

I sometimes wear large scarves like a shawl. Shorter ones I wrap once or twice around my neck, & tuck in under my shirt.

If I wear a scarf it’s usually a large one worn like a shawl on my coat. I don’t use scarves much for the reason I really don’t know how to use them. They just seem like extra bulk and end up a mess on me. I’d love to find one that worked on me, or that I could work with, and thie Liscaro might be it. Keeping my fingers crossed that I get to try and see if I can add that elegant touch of a scarf to my wardrobe and not look – well, wrong.

I just like to wear scarves knotted around my neck – but I have LOTS of different colors & fabrics & wear them all the time!

Depending on the size, and it has to be a bit large, I like wearing it as an ‘almost vest’; to do that you have to tie together each end on the longest sides. The easiest way is to put the scarf behind your back, & like a shawl, drape it, then on the right side tie those ends, etc. Then you should be able to put your arms through the drapes. It looks great with a longer length dress or skirt.

What a great way to dress up a plain top. So sophisticated, yet so simple. Would love to add this fabulous scarf to my accessory wardrobe.

I’ve just gotten into silky scarves around the neck – tied by folding it in half and passing both ends through. They never come undone – so never get lost – no matter how silky they are!

Depending on the size of the scarf. A square scarf works best for me with a single knot. A larger scarf I like to tie in a european style.

I love the way this scarf is presented, a scarf is an easy choice with our climate change and locale. A single knot or wrap around is the easiest for me
