24September   {What do you think of this look?}
We spotted this FOF donning nautical hues outside of a downtown NYC art gallery. We want you to tell us: does her look float your boat or make you want to jump ship? Plus, see what our style experts think!

—————————————————————————————————

.
Sherrie Mathieson: This FOF needs a re-think. Her cute figure would be better served by a less "cute" outfit that is not so busy and chopped-up. She is petite, so greater simplicity would suit her. It would also be more appropriate if her skirt reached mid knee--especially when paired with such high heeled shoes.

.

Sandra Soich: She gets a good score! She’s in terrific physical shape and looks great. The look is fresh. If I were to change anything it would be the shoe--I’d choose a dressier wedge. The look is fresh.

Susan Sommers: I love the crisp, clean pairing of navy and white, especially in hot weather and find it especially refreshing on blondes. I also like that this particular blonde accented her waist in a brightly-hued, wide belt. However, I would have preferred another color over the expected red, such as a grass green, fuchsia or bright turquoise. Because the outfit is sweet and casual, I would swap the clunky heels for a pair of lace-up navy or white espadrilles; lose the necklace and instead wear a pair of big hoop earrings; then put the bangle, along with a few more, on the same wrist as her watch.

.

Susan Hersh: There’s a whole lot going on here and it’s too much for the eye. The accessories do not work with each other. The red belt is not necessary, and the nude pump is too dressy for the outfit and should be replaced with a modern wedge. Dump the necklace and replace with a wide cuff bracelet on one arm and add the thin bracelet to the wrist with the watch. The right accessories would modernize her outfit--the current choice is outdated.

.

Shelley Zurek: With the body of an 18 year old, this FOF would probably look good in a potato sack! Liking everything about this outfit especially the shoes and her casual hair. I think the belt makes it a little too Fourth of July, which is fine, if it is the Fourth of July! I think a light, silver chain belt would have been my choice. If she didn't have these stunning dancer legs, the skirt might be too short but with her lovely tan gams, she's ready for a summer day!

Terry Gibralter: I think this FOF looks quite cute for a late, summer day! I love the draped, striped top with the ribbons on the shoulders. The skirt is really great, too--I especially love the cool and handy piped pockets. The belt is the perfect width and adds a nice pop of color to the ensemble. I like the fun necklace as well. My only beef with this outfit is her shoe choice. I just don't get nude colored platform killer heels with this easy outfit. Wouldn't a great pair of colorful espadrille wedges look much more fitting?

She is a pretty woman, but the outfit needs tweaked. It’s just not a sophisticated look with the bows on the shoulders, the color palete and the gathered skirt with the pockets. I usually love a belt, but in this case, it just cuts her lean figure. The shoes are too high and dressy for the rest of the outfit. This is a picnic look trying to look NYC with the shoes. It would work better by replacing the too high heels with espadrilles, lose the belt and bows, change the skirt to a slim, non-gathered look and update the necklace.

I wouldn’t wear it, but then I have a completely different body type and personal style. This woman has a lot of self-awareness, I think, to be able to dress like this and really pull it off. I really think she gets away with this because she has the body for it and the attitude. I would quibble with the shoes and the belt, but that’s just me. My first impression was very positive. I do not think she looks like an “old lady” trying to look youthful, which is, of course the kiss of death.

Too cutesy. This is a very boring look. The pockets on the skirt are just tacky. The look is also way too casual for those ultra high heels.

Are those pockets on her skirt? What are they for? And the shoes do not go with this outfit. I’m thinking something more of a sandal. The belt is not necessary but if she insists on it, I think a narrower belt would work better. Otherwise I think it suits her.

the shoes are too dressy for this outfit. she should have worn some huraches, lose the necklace, wear hoop earrings, couple of bracelets. otherwise it is a great look for her. even if she did leave the necklace. just change the shoes. love the nautical look.

I think she looks cute! I would have gone with white, red, or navy shoes; not the beige tone. The accessories are not the current trends, but they aren’t a horrible faux paux. She’s in great shape, so she can wear whatever she wants!

She looks great….except the shoes. Red,white or blue espadrillas,or silk wedges (same color mentioned ), would give the outfit more balance; as it is casual.

I think she looks great. Sometimes it’s fun to dress In a themey type, outfit and this one certainly flatters her. There are two things I’m not crazy about….the pockets on the skirt-they widen the line too much ….and the shoes….I think some cute espadrilles would have gone better with this outfit .

Sink this one in the deep blue sea. That red belt -Yuck- ditch the necklace and the shoes are totally inappropriate I would like to have seen a heeled sandle or a casual wedge. The FOF has a great body….use it your advantage – remember less is more attractive.

Not loving the length of the skirt, too short, nor the little pockets. The shoes are far too dressy for the rest of the outfit. She appears short and the cut off at the waist with red belt is making her appear even shorter. All a bit too “cutesy” but she is beautiful!

This is one of those outfits that is just one or two items overdone: skip the red belt or skip the beaded necklace or drop the skirt length etc. Definitely nautical, definitely informal, young and more for Spring. She cares about her appearance, likes fashion, and is willing to try things new. Keep on “Keeping on!”

I love what Shelley said and agree about the belt. Too red, white, and blue. Great choice with the nude pumps, they definitely make this FOFs legs look a lot longer. Great outfit.

I love the look! And think those shoes are amazing! And I have to say I agree with Shelley- she definitely has those dancer legs– she’ll look good in anything!

I agree with Shelley – the red belt is a little much for anything besides the 4th of July but overall I love the outfit. If you’re got that body, work it!

she looks great – i, too, would lose the necklace and change the shoes to espadrilles. skirt is, yes, a wee tad short, but if i had her legs i would display them too!

I completely agree with what Shelley said about the belt! Just not the everyday look seems too 4th of July-ish. I do love the hair too!

I think it is a really cute and eye-catching outfit. The shoes don’t work with it, but the outfit itself is nice and something I would wear pre-thyroid days.

this is a great summer look – but I agree the shoes are too dressy. A low wedge shoe, and a cardigan, and she is ready for work or play.

I think she looks very summery and fun. Except, like many have said above, the shoes are not in the spirit of the breezy, casual style of the clothes.

It catches the eye but there is to much going on. Pockets, belt, full skirt, dressy shoe, the bows. She is a really pretty woman with a fabulous figure, the outfit plays that down.

She’s adorable and in fantastic shape, but I’d love to see the outfit look a little less “cutesy.” Maybe a white or navy pencil skirt, and the pumps switched out for a more flesh-toned (for her!) wedge or closed toe pump. I know this isn’t part of it, but I’d like to see her hair with some warmer lowlights blended in, and a little less shaggy and more classic cut. But she’s gorgeous!

She looks great. Like everyone else, I’d ditch the shoes in favor of Flats because they are more comfortable than espadrilles. That would mollify the reviewer who thought the skirt was too short. She has the legs to wear that length.

I like the look in its entirety and this woman looks great. But, I agree that espadrilles would work better, and I would would also choose a mid knee-length skirt. I like the idea of a belt in another color other than red.

I like it. It wouldn’t work on everybody but her body is perfect for the look. I think I change the shoes to a nice wedge instead of the heels. Otherwise I think she looks terrific.
