antique is always better, it is the real thing!
Let’s speak antique...
One FOF and her FOFriend will spend a weekend treasure hunting at the 51st Annual Philadelphia Antiques Show.

A show docent will guide you around and provide you with a sneak peek of the 2012 Loan Exhibit--a collection of antiques that have been amassed over 260 years, including famous period paintings, rare furniture and books. You and your friend will also receive a complimentary lunch and dinner plus luxurious accommodations at the Loews Hotel, one of the "World's Best Hotels" according to Travel + Leisure magazine and a five-time winner of the AAA Four Diamond Award.
This weekend of antiquin’ includes:

(See all our past winners. See FabOverFifty's official rules. Winners will be chosen at random from all those commenters who answer the question. Contest closes February 28, 2012 at midnight E.S.T.)

I prefer antique stores, and nothing is more exciting than to shop in a different city. My best friend and I would be over the moon to win this contest! We went antiquing in the pouring rain this last weekend, because we are die hards! Thanks for the opportunity!
My sister and I prefer estate sales, Yep... We buy and buy antiques. So much fun, then we have an estate sale to resale what we overbought and fell in love with! You just can't beat "old" but "beautiful" antique furniture.... made to last forever...
I have an eclectic mix of old and new and love how it all blends together to create a comfy home that I love. I love pieces that have a history and have withstood the test of time -- it's proof that with a little TLC we can all withstand the test of time. My favorite piece is my dining room table -- antique oak with claw feet -- it is divine.
I've been a mixer-and-matcher from the time I was a girl, moving the furniture in my bedroom around to "shake things up." I'd make my father help me carry home "treasures" that other people in our neighborhood were throwing out and rearrange things in my room to find just the right spot for the new piece. Today, a room doesn't look "right" to my eye if it doesn't have a mix of traditional and contemporary, homespun and modern. But the most important criteria is that it FEEL right. Like the Velveteen Rabbit (one of my favorite books from childhood), pieces that have been "loved" are the ones I value the most.
This is a very roundabout way of saying that I shop anywhere and everywhere, but admit that there's something very special about antiquing.

Love finding "treasures" in antique stores, flea markets or just "junkin around"
