Dr. Tierney started his medical career in Rootstown, Ohio, at Northeast Ohio Medical University. It was there that he achieved his Doctorate of Medicine and knew he wanted to pursue the surgical arts. After graduating, Dr. Tierney began his five year residency in general surgery at the Akron City Hospital in Ohio. After all those years in the Midwest, Dr. Tierney decided it was time to head south. He began his residency in reconstructive and plastic surgery at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. Upon completion, he became an assistant professor with University Surgical Associates in Louisville, where he taught plastic surgery fellows for two years.
