Credentials and experience, aesthetic plastic surgeon Mark L. Jewell, MD, has them both. From 2005-06, Dr. Jewell was the president for the leading professional organization of board-certified plastic surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He is the United States National Secretary for the international Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons and served as a Governor for the National Endowment for Plastic Surgery. Dr. Jewell is currently the vice president of the American Society Education and Research Foundation (ASEF) and a former member of the Board of Directors for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).
From 1988 to 2004 Dr. Jewell held the highly regarded Joyce Kaye Lectureship and in 2003 the ASAPS awarded him the Tiffany Award for best scientific presentation. He has contributed numerous scientific book chapters and journal articles and most notably, the ASPS Patient Consultation Resource Guide for informed-consent. He was successful in bringing silicone breast implants back to the marketplace as well as being a major contributor in the development of the website built for patients on breast implant safety.
