Hello I’m interested in adding a tiny amount of volume to my breasts since I have birthed and breastfed three children. I honestly do not want implants. I have read about fat injections used to add volume to breasts. Is this a safe option for me?

Many women lose volume on the upper portion of the breast, after pregnancies and breast feeding. It is often a matter of filling the cup or feeling perkier or fuller on the top. A small implant can often be a good solution. Fat grafting may also be an option to “fill only a portion of the breast” to get better shape. Discuss all options with a board certified surgeon. I do not use the Brava if the breast skin has deflated and has good compliance.

It is now possible with the newest technique for you to enlarge your breasts without resorting to implants! Specially prepared fat taken from another part of the body, such as the stomach or hips, is placed under the breast tissue to provide increased breast size without the need for artificial implants. The technique is called autologous fat transfers and autologous simply means “your own.” And who doesn’t have a little fat to spare?

Dear Vicki: The latest procedure that adds volume to the breast is FAT TRANSFER….The breast has to be prepared with the “BRAVA” system for about 3 to 6 weeks to prepare the breast tissue for the fat transfer…The amount of fat depends on your preferance, it can be as little as 1/2 cup size to 2 cup sizes. It has to be prformed by a surgeon that is very familiar with the system to give you the results you so desire.

Hi Vicki: Currently fat to the augmenation of breast is currently being performed, that long term implications have yet to be completely studied. Like all surgery it comes with its own risks and complications so that no operation is truely “safe”. Discussion with your surgeon with help determine the best options for you. For women after child birth and breast feeding implants are a common choice but also consider a breast lift which can lift and tight the skin of the breast to give the appearance of more fullness and firmness without necessarily adding volume.
