I am 42 years old with 4 children. I had 3 natural births, baby #4 was a c-section two years ago. It left me with a pouch and a lot of numbness. I am bothered by both very much. I am having such a hard time finding a Dr. that is a tummy tuck specialist. I also would also prefer a hospital over a surgical suite. I am really afraid of having more numbness. Are there doctors that pay attention to the numbness issue? Or is it just a gamble? Thank You, Laura

I am not sure why you are having a problem finding a plastic surgeon who specializes in tummy tucks, after many years of doing them, we have special expertise with limiting your discomfort after and speeding your recovery. Many of us do this procedure in our certified operating rooms to help you minimize the costs. I am delighted to do I t at a hospital, but it will markedly increase your cost.

Feel free to call to set up your complimentary consultation where I will examine you and go over your options and all fees will be discussed. This surgery gives you a much tighter flatter abdomen and removes most of the excess skin and tightens the abdominal muscles. Abdominal sensation usually return to normal, although there often is a small triangular area below the belly button that stays slightly numb.

What a great question! Of course having four pregnancies can take a huge toll on your abdominal muscles, leaving you with lax skin, and the fourth being a cesarean birth can leave numbness from the incision. I am a board certified Plastic Surgeon who has been voted Top Ten of New York and who also specializes in the Lateral Tension Abdominoplasty. Using this technique provides my patients with not only a flatter belly, but also a soft hourglass shape, giving the added benefit of uplifted thighs. This process will bring your torso back to where it was before all those beautiful kids. I would be happy to have one of my Patient Coordinators contact you to set up a complementary consultation at one of my offices so we can discuss your personal goals, address your numbness and pick which hospital you would prefer having your procedure in. I maintain privileges in several hospitals in New York City and Long Island, NY. Please feel free to look at some before and after pictures on my website at http://www.aristocratps.com and call the office (515.498.9790) to ask any further questions you may have. My entire team is dedicated to your success. I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your goals.

Having done thousands of tummy tuck type procedures over a long carrier in plastic surgery, I can say that I have special expertise in this procedure. There is always some numbness in the lower abdomen after an abdominoplasty or tummy tuck procedure. This is due to the fact that there is skin removal of the lower abdomen. The C section also cause numbness because during that procedure an incision is made above the pubis and the skin is raised. If you already have numbness, it should not get a lot worse. The good news is that the numbness goes away over time or gets better. You need a good informative consultation to answer all your questions and make sure that the answers apply to your particular case. Please call for an appointment.

After four pregnancies, it would be anticipated that your abdominal muscles and skin may be lax — hence the pouch. More than likely, some sort of tummy tuck would be helpful — but there are many variations on that theme and therefore a personal consultation and physical exam are necessary to help determine what procedure would be best for you.

You also seem concerned about numbness and unfortunately there may not be anything that can be done about this. Again, this would be explained at the consultation.

Surgery can be performed either in my accredited ambulatory surgical facility or in a hospital — your preference.

I would be pleased to see you in consultation. Please call (212) 570 6080 for an appointment.

Good day and thank you for your question. Numbness from a C-section and abdominoplasty can occur. Dr. Monasebian, our Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, performs numerous body contouring procedures including “Mommy Make-Overs” throughout the year. These surgeries can be performed in our accredited facility or, if you prefer, at the Hospital where Dr. Monasebian maintains full admitting and operating privileges.

As with any Plastic Surgery procedure, make sure it is performed by a doctor certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ask this doctor to show you pictures and review the entire procedure with you.
We will routinely review all aspects of the procedure with you.
During your consultation, all fees will be discussed in more detail as well. Please call us to discuss this further. We look forward to meeting you soon.
