Help please!
49 year old, 2 kids no previous surgeries. Just had a tummy tuck 1 week ago and worried about results. PS state was unable to do muscle tightening due to really loose fascia, also my bowels being too close to fascia and lots of scar tissue in abdominal area. He also fixed an undiagnosed umbilical hernis at the time of the tummy tuck. I see muscle tightening is needed especially for loose fascia, will my results not be good? Will I have to have a revision to get a mesh to tighten the fascia? Please shed some light?

    Hi-
Sounds like time to sit down with your surgeon and have a good discussion about the findings at the operation. Surgery is rarely “routine” and every patient is different. What you are describing is the quality of the tissues your doctor found at the time of the procedure. The absolute best person to give you the answers to the questions posted here is that surgeon. Since they were at the procedure and have first hand knowledge that person has the best insight as to what you can expect and what options there are going forward. Schedule time with the office so that you have a chance to go over those details fully and likely that will answer many of your questions. Hope this helps.

If the fascia was loose, then it is best to tighten is to get a flatter waist. Many times the ability to do so is limited due to the amount of fat inside of the abdomen, underneath the muscle. In cases like that when the stitches are placed they can either rip through or just flatten the front but then make your waist wider. Mesh is just placed over the are and it does not bring the fascia together any tighter
