I started sewing at age 12 and my degree is in Fashion Design. I’ve worked for over 25 years in all aspects of the fashion trade, including design, wholesale, and retail management and training. I have a passion for vintage clothing and have spent years developing contacts in my area in order to find the best in vintage fashion still hiding in historic New England homes.
What is your buying philosophy?
I search for high quality vintage garments that appeal to my fashion sense and that of my customers. I don't offer anything that I wouldn't wear myself. I keep an eye out for the well-known designers, as well as those I've discovered whose names are not as recognizable but are just as wonderful.
Tell us about your customer.
The Couture Allure customer is a woman who has a love of classic design and enjoys mixing vintage pieces into her wardrobe. She knows that the quality of materials and construction found in vintage are better than most garments made today, and that vintage offers her a great value for her dollar.
What designers do you carry?
The selection changes from week to week, depending upon what becomes available from my various sources of vintage clothing. I generally have vintage pieces from Dior, Yves St. Laurent, Norman Norell, James Galanos, Pauline Trigere, Donald Brooks, Pucci and Leonard. I also carry gorgeous vintage garments that have no designer labels.
What are some of the most sought after vintage items that you carry?
1960s mod beaded cocktail dresses, 1940s suits, and gorgeous evening gowns from all eras.
What special services do you offer?
Since vintage pieces are most often one-of-a-kind, I am always available to help determine if a garment will fit before a customer buys. I also offer a generous return policy.
