Awards season is upon us–and FOFs are showing up in full force. This year’s Golden Globes were no exception with appearances from Helen, Julianne, Angelica and other FOFavorites.
What do you think: Were their fashion choices fab, or should we wish them better luck at the Oscars?
We’d expect nothing less than fierce, ageless style from the always gorgeous Helen Mirren. She upstaged starlets half her age in this stunning black gown accented with intricate gold beading by Badgley Mischka. The black and gold pairing emulated old Hollywood glamour. We thought she looked FOFlawless, but what do you think?
Sally Field may have played Lincoln’s dowdy wife, Mary Todd Lincoln, in the 2012 historical film about the president. But, she was looking anything but dowdy last night in her navy blue Alberta Ferretti gown with its plunging neckline. Does she get your vote for best dressed of the night or is her frock too scandalous for an “FOFirst lady”?
We love the color of this deep blue bedazzled dress from Giorgio Armani, but we wish it was more FOFigure flattering. Jodie’s sleek Anna Wintour style-bob and understated yet classic makeup earn her extra points, but overall we expected more from this legendary actress, who accepted the Cecille B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement at this year’s Golden Globes.
Julia celebrated her 52nd birthday at the Golden Globes, but we’re not a fan of her birthday suit. Julia’s jewel-tone, custom-made Vera Wang dress with black lace overlay washes her out, and her nude-tone lipstick doesn’t help. Her battened-down hairstyle looks a bit greasy, and the A-line cut of this dress makes her look wider than she is. We prefer the hip-hugging, saucy yet sophisticated Vera Wang that she hit the red carpet with at last year’s Golden Globes.
Is this about as good as it gets for Helen Hunt? We’re mad about hue, as in the rose smoke color of her Dolce & Gabbana tulle and beaded column gown. But, do you think The Sessions (2012) star–shined?
Did Anjelica Huston get a little too into her role as Morticia in the Addams Family? Is it just us or is her Memeka by Gustava Cadile gown is looking a little crepe-y and cooky? Or do you think the getup which featured a silver metallic and lace bell sleeve top with black silk skirt is a Smash-ing success?
We recently learned that Emerald is the 2013 Pantone color of the year. To that end, Jacki Weaver, the Silver Linings Playbook (2012) supporting star, couldn’t have had better timing when she chose to sport this green gown by Pamella Roland to last night’s Golden Globes. Its flutter sleeve and ruched bodice are all great choices for an FOF, but is she swimming in a sea of green with that full and flowy skirt?
We’re in love with Julianne’s custom made minimalist black and white gown, designed by her good friend and fashion designer Tom Ford. The open back is just the right amount of revealing, and her eye-catching Bvlgari chandelier earrings and bangle bracelet complete the look beautifully. Do you agree?
