{What do you think of this look?}

White after Labor Day? How about white after Election Day? This FOF is no slave to rules as she proudly dons the pearly hue deep into autumn. But, what do you think: is she a fashion rebel without a cause? Or did she get it all white? Read what our style experts think, then, tell us your opinion in the comments below.

Glenyse Thompson: “White after Labor Day can be chic, and this look almost made it. Her upper layers are really working, but her pants are so loose they look like waffle thermal underwear. Fit is everything! Choosing a size smaller in stretch pants help them keep their shape. Her boots aren’t doing this outfit any favors either, making her feet look huge, and completely out of proportion to her petite frame. Booties or a taller-shaft boot with a rounder toe would have complemented this look better.”

Sherrie Mathieson: “As for white after Labor Day…or in this case Election Day–I’d say it’s really more about fabric choice than color choice. This pretty lady looks bright but not summery. She uses layered white in wintery textures for a great total look. Her accent fall pieces in navy are an unexpected touch–perfect!”

Lovey Dash: “This look happens to be one of my favorites. It’s so chic and classic from her gorgeous flat leather boots to her wonderful layered tee and sweater. I also love the proportion of her bag. If you really pushed me to make one change I’d say ditch the white bracelets. Winter, spring, summer or fall–this look is great!”

Susan Sommers: “This look is pure perfection before, during and after Labor and Election Days. The mix of textures and fabric weights makes this outfit current and modern. By anchoring it with a dark handbag and boots, it really suits the season. The only piece I would add is a long challis, cashmere- or cashmere-blend scarf in a bold geometric print swathing the neck to add some punch and keep the ensemble definitely in the cold-weather category.”

Yes, I agree it’s a great look. But, I also agree that a more flattering boot shape/style would be an improvement and the white bracelets should go.

It is just the greatest look for women our age if you have the body to pull it off!

Bah! I always thought the rule about “no white after Labor Day” was made by old frumps with a stick up their arse.

I think this model looks fantastic. If I could change one thing, I’d say tighter pants.

If you want to talk about something really annoying, though, how about when people wear heavy scarves, a hat and flip flops with their toes exposed. I always laugh at that look and call it the “Fashion mullet” — winter on the top and summer on the bottom! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Winter months are drab enough and the usual color choices are pretty limited and not uplifting at all with everything darkened down and the occasional red. I think this look is great!

I subscribe to the theory that any woman of style should march to the beat of her own drum. I love monochromatic dressing, the different textures all in the same color, provide enough interest without any other color, the black saves her from looking like the Good Humor Man!

I rarely to never wear white, but I believe it is a year round color and this lady looks fabulous to me.

White clothing isn’t the problem here. The blk/whi combo throws off the eye because there are no accessories to ‘unite’ (like a blk & whi pattern or a bold color) the polar opposites. More bold makeup/earrings might have made a big difference to offset the inevitable wash-out white gives a pale complexion, too.

I concur with Glenyse: better fit with the leggings would have added polish. Did anyone else think the boots made her feet look too long (frog flippers)? I would have chosen a short manageable heel and a rounded toe.

She looks great. Age appropriate and chic. I , personally prefer cream, or what used to be called winter white but ate my tast. She does not look out of season at all. And remember, Jackie Kennedy wore white jeans year round!

I absolutely love her look. She is neat and stylish from head to toe. As I have gotten older and am no longer a slave to fashion, I wear what I think I look good in. And 9 time out of 10, I am fine. I will be forever grateful when these horrible shoes with three inch soles go away. Women look so nice in their lovely dresses and suits and pants until you get to their shoes……….and they all look like Minnie Mouse. Their carefully put together looks are ruined with their shoes. Yes, I know they cost thousand, they have red soles, but they still look horrible. And the women can barely walk. So sad that some designer decided women would look so ridiculous for so many years.

The woman in white had it all right!~!~!!!

I think she looks great but I prefer a less “pointy” boot – these seem to make her feet look very long. Honestly, I don’t mind almost any fashion as long as it isn’t offensive. I think style is a person’s own and is one of the things that makes us each unique. 🙂

There is nothing so refreshing as to see winter whites against a field of the usual drab black uniforms that so many New Yorkers have adopted over the years.
As for the look above, the boots don’t work. She needs tan or buff or even a saddle brown. Red would work, too. Same goes for the handbag.
