{Giveaway} Wall London Apparel

Judith Balcazar is giving away $400 worth of clothing plus free shipping from Wall London, a line of clothing created with FOFs in mind and known for its exquisite fabrics and hand-finished details. Enter to win by answering this question in the comments below: What piece would you love to own from Wall London?

Former art gallery owner Judith Balcazar was living in Australia in the 1980s when she met her husband, Hernan in Peru. In 1990 they got married and the lived there for a few years until ultimately settling in England in the early 90s. When the couple took a year off from working in 1993 to travel the world, Judith became inspired by the way women of other cultures dressed much more comfortably than those in the U.K. “I found that the clothing in London was for tiny, skinny women,” says Judith. “My vision of women is anchored in reality–not on the catwalk.”

In 1997, Judith and Hernan set out to create a line of clothing that really spoke to the women of Judith’s generation. They decided to manufacture the line in Peru because of their strong connections to local artisans and manufacturers there. “I wanted to use a lot of high-quality, majestic fibres like hand picked pima cotton, pure alpaca, silk, and linen, because women understand quality better as they get older,” says Judith. “Synthetic fibres don’t sit well on us. They make us sweat and do not hang well on our more curved bodies.”

Creating a line of clothing proved to be more challenging than Judith had thought.  “A lot of our business I learned on the job,” says Judith. ” When I first started dealing with production, I went to get the first samples back from Peru, and they looked absolutely nothing like the specs we had given them. It was scary.”

Fifteen years later, after much trial and error, Judith perfected the design and manufacturing process. Her clothing line, Wall London, is finally thriving. Judith has customers from across the world, including members of the royal family in London and Europe, as well as famous FOFs such as “The Weakest Link” moderator Anne Robinson and English actress Francesca Annis. She’s sold at least half a million pieces from her collection, which is available for purchase on her website, at her Notting Hill boutique, and by catalog. Judith and her husband still make trips back to Peru regularly to oversee the manufacturing of their line.

“You want to be able to easily pick clothing from your wardrobe that will work effortlessly for you,” says Judith. She says her designs make a statement that says, “I am interested in how I look. I have character and cannot be dismissed, but I also want to be comfortable and move with ease.’

Oh-my-goodness! I have to say thanks so much for turning me on to Wall London, which I’d never heard of before…but I think it’s going to become a new favorite!!! One of my pet peeves, even with supposedly high quality clothing, is that they’re made with artificial fiber…I am ALWAYS looking for natural fiber clothing that’s chic & stylish, but comfortable to wear and this sure fits that like a glove. I don’t know how I could possibly pick just one thing, because I’ve seen at least a half dozen that are getting added to my Christmas list, but if I were absolutely forced to choose just one, it would be the oversized v-neck cardigan–PLEASE don’t ask me to choose the color too–both are delicious! 🙂

I love the first look;however she is tall. I am very short; have actually lost at least two inches since my lumbar fusion. I love the second look. I just lost close to fifty pounds since my sister had to give up her car. So we have walked a lot We eat healthy.
The other reason I love the second look is because I love those skinny pants. I just lost two full storage lockers in another state because I couldnt afford to send money one hundred bucks a month to maintain it. I had all my clothes in those lockers as well.
I also love the fact they are using local fabrics, the alpaca, and cotton from the local producers of the animals. that gives hope to families to increase their business. also it helps women who are single moms to increase their businesses as well , which will enable their children to go to school which is one of the first steps in getting out of poverty.
