In the 1970s, FOF Regina Kravitz was a “club kid,” frequenting Studio 54 and wearing outfits so outrageous that “entire tour buses would stop to look,” she says. The New York-based FOF, has fashion and design in her blood–both grandfathers were tailors, her father was a retailer and her mother was a model. Yet, her parents discouraged her from the fashion industry, so Regina heeded their advice and majored in theater at New York University. She landed a job as a writer right out of college. “I would stay up at night sewing these gorgeous capes with a friend and sell them on lunch hour,” says Regina. “They were these gorgeous capes. I sold them to Henri Bendel’s and Bergrdorfs. They were one-of-a-kind.”
In 1979, Regina took the plunge and started a menswear line which she called, Reggie. “I didn’t know what I was doing,” she admits. “It was just a wild time to be young and in fashion.” Then in the early 80s, she got her first big break. A jumpsuit that she designed under a new label “Regina Kravitz,” began to spread like wildfire. “That put me into business,” says Regina.
Regina worked the line from 1978 to 1992, when she finally decided to sell the company. For those years, she dabbled in other ventures–working for dancewear company, Danskin, taking up fitness training and traveling to Paris after a divorce. “I went through a lot of life changes,” says Regina. “But, the whole time, I missed designing.” One day, Regina found herself on the metro, sketching out what she planned to wear that night. It was at that point, she decided to return to fashion. In 2012 she relaunched her line again under the name “Regina Kravitz.”
“I know it’s hard now, the market has changed and I’m older,” says Regina. “But being a designer is just a way of thinking, like being an artist or a sculptor, you don’t lose that.”
This time around Regina has help from her 24-year-old son, a business and finance graduate from the University of Indiana. Her line is available in 50 boutiques across the country from The Bellagio Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas to Barabra Katz store in South Florida.
With a new understanding of the women’s physique (from her stint as a trainer), Regina aimed to create a line that is especially flattering for FOFs, although it will appeal to all ages. Her clothing is “a little forgiving,” with drapey fabrics and ruching, designed to make women “feel comfortable and confident.” Pieces such as her signature jumpsuit can be dressed up and down.
This spring, a portion of the collection will be available on her website, ReginaKravitz.com.
“It’s not like we feel over 50, it’s just something that happens,” says Regina. “And it’s something to be truly proud of.”

Wow, is this jumpsuit designed by Regina Kravitz cute. It is super flattering and the back is so sexy with the peek a boo cutout. Would be fun to wear and I would love to add it to my wardrobe. I love clothing that is stylish and, comfortable, and that I feel like a million in. This would quickly become one of my favorite go to pieces for parties, nights out and even for work if I added a little lightweight cardigan over it. I could also see adding a blouse and belting it and waist to wear at work. I love it.

I love Jumpsuits. I love anything that “Use” to be in style, that are now coming back. I think the jumpsuit gives women a chance to show some curves,, which is much needed in our society now, more then ever. More size 12’s then 2 now. This jumpsuit gives a little sexy too, with the drop back. Nothing wrong with being a little sexy, when your over 50…I do it all the time.As long as it is in good taste, I say go for it. 🙂

ABSOLUTELY! I am 54 years old, so I lived through the 80’s as a young professional. (I am still an Interior Designer) I always felt so comfortable, and yet very stylish in jumpsuits. I am so happy to see that some of the styles of that period are back, but updated. No need for the big shoulder pads! 🙂 I would wear this for business, entertaining and going out on the town. A flower child wannabee, I remember my first jumpsuit. A black piece covered with a red and gold giraffe pattern. Hmm, not as easy to sit down in as I’d hoped, but easy to peel out of in an instant! Also, and this was my fave when I was 14, a light blue gingham with a scoop neck and daisy macrame scoop neck. It was a jumpsuit shorts outfit with a long skirt in same pattern that attached at the waist and opened down one side. So fashionable and cool. The perfect young teenage girl flirty outfit!
