This has been a dream of mine since 1966. My next door neighbor’s mother had her and her sister’s portraits painted and they were in the family room as we grew through high school.So very beautiful,lifelike,but art.To this day in 2012 our mothers still live next door to each other in our childhood homes.Those portraits have moved to the front room from the family room and I LOVE them still. I have a grandson now and it would be the best gift I could EVER have to have his image on a painted canvas on my wall. I would be forever grateful.Thank you for letting me imagine that I could even be considered for such an honor.

These paintings are remarkable. I would have my dog, Parker, a Bishon Friese, painted. My husband bought him for me as a special gift. Parker has truly been a special gift as my husband passed away 35 days after we were married and Parker helps me get through all of the lonely nights!! He is a very snuggly dog & great comfort.

This would be a wonderful gift for my Aunt Jill Hord who lost her 16 year old Grandson this summer. I would love to give her a painting of Zack to remember him by. Zack was raised by Aunt Jill and Uncle Gord till he was 14 years old, then he went to live with his father (Jill’s son)… and suddenly this summer Zack was found dead. The family will never be the same. I know a painting of him would be helpful as they did not have many photos and I have been going to Zack’s friends to try and find more. All over his house are large pictures of my brother and me and there are many pictures of his only grandchild….however there are no pictures of him anywhere. They were going to put him down as he was a stray, they thought he was about 6 years old & when found, his right eye was literally hanging out of the socket. The dr stuck it back in but he is blind in that eye & the eye is backwards & not “pretty” but in my eyes, he is beautiful. He is the best dog I’ve ever had or met and without Maverik, I’d never have gotten through a year of chemo 5 years ago. He saved my life after I saved his and I love him so very much.

A few years ago, someone snapped a close-up photo of me and my dog in my arms at the Marfa airport with the wind blowing our blond hair together across our eyes. The background is the beautiful cerulean sky and dried grasses of the Marfa plateau. The photographer sent me an 8×11 color print. The photo tells a story of a fleeting moment in time. I think it would make an awesome painting.

I would love Linda to paint a picture of our beautiful light red Chow Chow. She ended up with us when someone abandoned her at the park across the street from our house. She seemed terrified which led us to believe she had been mistreated before she was abandoned. She was so afraid of us that I did not try to approach her for the first few days but I put food and water out for her. After a few days she begin to come around and let us pet her. I took her to our vet to have her examined and get required shots for her. He told us she was about 1 year old and was cutting her 1 year molar teeth. This explained why she was chewing on my patio furniture. I also believe her chewing stage may have been what prompted her previous owner to abandon her. Had they only been more patient with her during her teething stage they could have had a wonderful compainion. After she finished cutting her teeth she never chewed on anything again. She is the sweetest most well mannered Chow Chow I have ever encountered and everyone who meets her says the same of her. This includes our vet who says he has encountered many Chow Chows during his 30 + years of being a vet and never a sweeter one than ours. I guess that is why our children named her “Baby”. They taught her to sit and shake hands. She is very smart as she seems to realize that the younger and smaller a child is the more gentle she needs to be with them. She loves people now that she knows there are people who love her and would never mistreat her. About a year after we adopted her she got hit by a truck and it damaged the nerve in her front left leg. When it became apparent that it was not going to heal we had it amputated. At first she had a little trouble getting around but after a while you could hardly notice she only had three legs, especially when she was running. We’ve had her for 12 years now so she is 13 years old and I know that is old for a dog. She is still just as gentle with our grandchildren as she was with our children and all our neighborhood children. I love Baby and hope she will be around for a long time to come. I have a very good photo taken of her a few years ago with one of our granddaughters and I think it would make a lovely painting. You can actually see the sweetness in her face.

When we adopted her, she was so badly abused that she was afraid of everything including love. had been caged for 3 years and was on the “kill list”. Most of her hair was gone, half-starved at 55#. She now has a full shiney coat, gets loved all the time, finds a way to sneak on the bed with us at night, has a trunk full of toys which she loves, but won’t destroy and is now a very healthy 80#. She chases squirrels, branches and anything that moves on our mountain; is also a total social butterfly when we entertain, which is often 🙂

I would definately want my dog Walter painted. He strayed up about 8 years ago. Before he became mine these bad people shot him doing unrepaiable nerve damage to his fron leg. I looked for him for 3 days! Well his determination got him to me and I immediately took him to the vet thinking he had been hit by a car but the dr. said 1 high powered deer rifle bullets went all the way thru and 1 was still in him! He’s only 19 pounds! The leg had to come off and I took care of him (and he of me when I went thru a divorce) and he’s now 12 years old! I love him soooo much. He’s very handsome, too. He’ll even sing if you ask him to!

I have a photo of our two sons taken on their first day of preschool October 2000 age 3 and 4.
They are wearing brand new clothes and shoes, holding their robots toys and their sack lunches with their brand new last name on the bags.
The photo is very precious to me because in Sept. 2000 they both came into our lives as our soon to be adopted sons. Their smiles are so happy and they were very excited to be going to preschool.
It was also a hard day for me as it meant that I would be going back to my full time job after settling in with them using vacation time for a month.
Our little boys are now big grown up soon to be men of 13 and 14 and we love our family.

I would love for Linda to paint a portrait of my beloved dog, Tramp. He died two years ago of a freak accident, whereupon he was rolling over on his back and his “stomach” flipped, and ultimately, his death several hours later. I was unaware that this could happen to dogs and was shocked and horrified that this could take my baby boy away from me. I miss him each and everyday. He went everywhere with me. People said they knew it was my car coming down the street as Tramp’s head was always hanging out the rear passenger window. He loved to ride more than anything else and even went to work with me. I would love to see his beautiful face everytime I awoke.

My choice for a painting would be our previous home, a huge old (Midwestern) Georgian style that was an historic landmark in our area. Our family lived and loved in 6000 sq. ft. of beautiful wood and plaster craftmanship. I fondly recall the ‘house and garden’ walks we were asked to participate in which were sponsored by the local Historic Society. What an honor to have owned a home with such integrity and I would so love to preserve ths memory in a painting.

I would love to have Linda paint a portrait of my Service dog & constant companion, “Cowboy”. He has been with me for 8+ years and devoted. He was dumped as a one year old on the streets of a city & luckily for me a good samaritan found him and her friend contacted me. He was microchipped & I located his breeder, who was apalled that he had been dumped.
She let me have him as I thought he would be just the perfect service dog & he definitely has been just that. He is a tri color male neutered Borzoi weighing 115#, but a real sweetheart & makes friends wherever we go!

I would like to ask Linda to paint a picture of of “our” dog…Peggy Sue. Peggy Sue, who is now 10, was first owned (and named) by a friend of my mother. When her original owner realized that she couldn’t care for Peggy, Peggy came to live with my mom and dad. She was the light of my parent’s eyes in their later years. Once, when my dad was in the hospital, the previous owner threatened to take her back. My mom was beside herself, because every day my dad would ask, “How is my puppy?” When I suggested that they could get another dog, my mom said, “You don’t understand, there is no other dog…there is just Peggy Sue.” My parents frequently said, “Everybody loves Peggy Sue!” and talk about how much she loved people.
I lost my mom in 2004, and dad in 2006. Along with their home, we inheirited Peggy Sue. My mom was right..there is only Peggy Sue. She is the sweetest, most loving animal I have ever known. She gets so excited to see people she knows (and she remembers people FOREVER) that she makes them feels like they are the most important person in the world. She just shares and spreads love. My mom was right, everybody loves Peggy Sue. People who barely know her talk about her. She is just six and a half pound white poodle full of love, and my husband and I are blessed to be among those she loves.

It was a struggle but with the help of family we made it. My dream picture would be of Buuud Guuump Sargent. He is my “Squirt” and the most expensive purchase I ever made from Wendy’s! He has a tumour, a thyroid condition that causes his heartbeat to go so fast sometimes I fear it will just stop.
He was 7 1/2 ounces, born with no eyelids, bowed hind legs, pectus excavatum (his sternal base protrudes) and one of ten reasons I am still alive. My husband divorced me in 2006 because, “I got married to be taken care of not to take care of” then a month later he married my brother’s ex-wife with whom we had vacationed and done close couple things for years. Buuud comforts me when I cry chasing away despair. He was supposed to be dead two years ago according to a University vet hospital but he is still here. Thank God. Between he, The Blessed Reverend Larry Krieger and Baby Yoda? Well, they love me. They make me get out of bed. I mean that literally. The Blessed Reverend will pat my face as will his sister Baby Yoda and Buuud will butt his nose up against my face and talk to me till I sit up and hug him.
I suspect I will not have him much longer and with him will go a last physical connection with my mother who named him. When I hug him I hug her as well.
I count on seeing him again in Heaven. I lost thirteen loved one in a three year period leading up to 2006 when David left me. I am hanging in there, holding on, hoping for the morning when I can wake with a smile on my face immediately instead of dreaming that David and I are still happily married then wake to feel the loss anew. Buuud sleeps on a pillow beside my head. I love him so. Barbara Anne Sargent
