{Giveaway} A night of live music!

FOF Jan Daley is giving away two tickets to her tribute to Bob Hope concert, and a copy of her new CD, “Where There’s Hope.” The winner can choose from two shows: a concert at Feinstein’s at Loews Regency Hotel in N.Y.C. on the evening of Sunday, April 3, 2011 or at Vicky’s of Santa Fe in Indian Wells, Calif on the evening of March 21, 2011.

To enter, comment below and answer: Do you sing in the shower? (Please indicate in your comment whether you would like to attend the California or New York show.)

FOF Jan Daley traveled around the world entertaining troops on the Bob Hope U.S.O. Tour during the Vietnam War. Now, forty years later, she has put together a tribute to Bob Hope, an album of love songs from his legacy.

“It was an amazing research project because I had no idea how many beautiful songs came out of Bob Hope’s wacky movies. In the 30s and the 40s, all the great American composers, like Gershwin and Cole Porter and Jerome Kern, came out here to California to write music for his movies…just wonderful songs.”

Watch this vintage video clip of Jan singing to troops in Vietnam in the 1970s, then enter below to win tickets to her show plus her new C.D.

Read Jan’s entire interview here.

Contest closes November 18, 2010.

Yes, I sometimes sing in the shower, but I really love to sing in bed at night to my husband. When I say I will take requests, he always says sing my favorite song, “Far Far Away.” Then we always laugh and I continue to sing! It’s such fun. I would love to see Jan’s show in NYC. It’s my favorite place to go and seeing this show would be icing on the cake and I am sure would add to my repertoire!

oddly enough, i do not sing in the shower….i sing everywhere else though! i can always tell when i am having a good shopping day…i catch myself singing while i am shopping. i love to sing..i sing while playing dominoes, mainly to distract my mom and sister, but also to remember my dad, he tolerated my singing so well… alas, i do not carry a tune well though, but does that really matter, if it lifts your spirit?

Yes, I do sing in the shower. I was pretty good back in my teens, 20s, 30s and 40s…but now that I’m 62 my voice is scratchy and I get no range…but it makes me happy…I sing show tunes from the 1930s, 40s, 50, 60s, 70s…after that music deteriorated. I also sing songs from Kern, Rogers & Hammerstein, Berlin, and a lot of good cabaret music…but, alas!, it’s just for me…and what I really want to know is if that young soldier Jan Daley sang to and Bob Hope introduced, survived the Vietnam War—I sure hope so!

  34. Christine says:

This is easy, because I probably sing the same songs every day–there’s something about being behind a shower curtain that makes you think no one can hear you. When I’m in the shower, I become very convinced of my ability to make it as a recording artist.
I would like to attend the New York show.

No, I don’t sing in the shower. I wish that I could open my mouth to sign and hear myself with a lovely voice. I guess I just wasn’t blessed with the gift of song. I do remember watching on TV Jan Daley and Bob Hope. My whole family looked forward to watching Bob’s U.S.O. tours. We all appreciated the talent, the humour and the sacrifice of everyone there. I cried when he passed…no one has ever filled his shoes. (sigh) Thank you Jan for doing this tribute. I would love to see your concert in New York.
