{Test This} coldfront Personal Cooling System

——————————————————————————————————————————————

When FOF Susie Hadas turned 47, she experienced one of her first hot flashes while in conversation with a co-worker. Susie, a former IT consultant was quite uncomfortable and began moving the hair away from her neck and playing with the collar of her shirt. The bizarre behavior led her 28-year-old co-worker to ask Susie if she was flirting with him. “I said, ‘I’m old enough to be your mother!’” says Susie. “I’m just having a hot flash! Can we get back to business over here?”

The embarrassing experience with her work colleague made Susie realize she needed to find a quick solution. “I was having a meltdown, both literally and figuratively,” says Susie. She tried multiple products–some she felt were too “risky” whereas others simply didn’t work. Susie realized that there was a “ridiculous gaping hole in the market.”

So, in 2007, she created her own–coldfront, a “personal cooling system,” including two chilly palm packs that stay soft at sub-zero temperatures and fit in a chic sunglass-sized case.

“The moment you feel a hot flash coming on, take a palm pack out of the case and apply it wherever you need it…Relief will be immediate,” says the product website. The packs stay cold for the average length of a hot flash, and the case re-cools them within 20 minutes after each use.

Susie says that beyond hot flashes, many of her customers have reported other uses for coldfront including soothing the skin post-cosmetic surgery and cooling hot flashes associated with cancer medications.

Furthermore, her cooling system has already proved to be a hot commodity–both The Washington Post and Oprah.com editors have recommended it.

But, will it work for you? 10 FOFs will put it to the test. Leave a comment below for a chance to win.

I would LOVE to test this Coldfront product! We have become a Texan after moving here several years ago and I have always been very hot natured, yet the Texas weather is hard to tolerate sometimes! I love working in my garden and my yard and the minute I walk out, I start sweating at the roots of my hair! When we go to Karaoke with our group, I always carry a pocket fan with me, so this would be so much better to have! This would be divine to use and show off to my friends…..I would really get alot of good use out of it, especially since we like to do so many outdoor activities! I will keep my fingers crossed to win this treasure!

I had a hysterectomy at 37 and immedialty went on HRT so I never experieced hot flashes at the time most women do. Then suddenely at 68 ( and still on a reduced level of HRT) I have started geting them! They come about every 45 minute to 1- hour and last only about 4-5 minutes . IT is this sudden, dreadful heat that makes me have to toss off anything I am wearing that I can and go stand under a fan or such.
This sounds like a super solution-and small enough for a purse or even back pocket.

Sometimes, I just throw down the towels and camp out in front of the open FREEZER door for relief. I turn red as a lobster and sweat for up to 5 minutes until my clothes are soaked.
I’d try anything that promises relief while out of the house.
Oh, cold packs do work, but unfortunately can be carried in a purse.
This cooling pack in a self re-cooling pouch sounds like heaven sent.
    Please let me try them!

Vicki, you made me laugh out loud!!! I have the same problem. I keep telling everyone in my family to put on a sweater because they really don’t want me to take my clothes off!! Good luck to you! I hope you get to try them. I know I am going to try to find them asap! Try putting something cold on the inside of your wrists. Some of my older friends told me to do that when I was melting down one day at church! They said it helps cool your blood circulating through your veins! It has really helped me but not practical to grab ice out of your drink and put it on your wrist in a restaurant!

    *RAISING HAND* Puleeeeezzzzeeeee pick me!

I’ve been crazy with hot flashes for the last 8 years. Doctor said they’d go away on their own, well, they haven’t. My mother, God rest her soul, was still complaining about hot flashes well into her late 70s. I can’t last that 20 more years of this agony and am not a pill taker!

I have folding fans of various materials in every pocketbook; battery operated fan that used to be on a spray bottle but I’m on my third one because I tend to burn them out, and the cooler packs people use to keep food cool? I have them in Zip Loc bags and some times sleep with them. It’s so bad strangers come up to me and ask me if I’m all right. No, I’m power surging, step back and no one will get hurt! LOL 😉

I have been having my own “personal summers” for about two years now. The hot flashes feel like an internal flame that lasts forever. Friends have literally seen the sweat on my brow. When my husband doubted how hot I was in my tank top in the middle of a cold New Jersey February, I had him feel the moisture of sweat and the damp hair on the back of my neck. How wonderful would it be to be able to grab one of these, always cool packs, where ever and when ever the flash strikes!
