The Olay Counter Revolution

On behalf of Olay, FOF invited Peri, one of our FOFriends, to switch from her department store skincare brand and try the Olay Pro-X anti-aging starter kit (retail value: $62). As part of its “28-Day Challenge,” Peri should see an improvement in her overall skin health in just four weeks, according to Olay. We’ve asked Peri to write a guest blog at the start of the challenge and another when it’s over.

Peri’s wrinkle analysis (left) and spot analysis (right).

——————————————————————————————————————————————

At 53, I never turn down an offer to try the next best thing to improve the elasticity and firmness of my skin.  Like many young women, I spent my teens and 20s soaking up the sun, but in my late 30s, little lines were becoming more and more apparent on my face.  At 38, I started caring for my skin in earnest and it took many years to reverse much of my sun damage.  Now, even though I don’t look my age, I see the signs of aging creeping up on me.

I just finished a six-week regimen using prestige products that cost $125. So when I heard that Olay Pro-X is challenging women to swap their favorite department store brands for its less expensive line, in order to address their skincare concerns, I decided it was worth trying.

I received the Olay Pro-X Anti-Aging Starter Protocol that includes “age repair lotion with SPF 30, wrinkle smoothing cream and eye restoration complex.” I also used a Pro-X Skin Analyzer Headband to examine my facial wrinkling and spots. It showed that I have a “well below average” number of spots and wrinkles, compared to others of my age and skin type. I’m pleased by the results, but I want to continue maintaining my skin to keep its youthful look. It will be interesting to see if the dermatologists and scientists who worked with Olay have together developed a quality product line that will show results in 28 days. It’s Olay vs. department store brands. I will report back then.

–Peri from Westchester, NY

P.S. – Let FOF know what anti-aging regimen you’re using and whether you’d like to take the Pro-X challenge, too. We’ll send the regimen to 10 lucky FOFs.

10 FOFs will win. (See all our past winners, here.) (See official rules, here.) Contest closes August 16th, 2012 at midnight E.S.T.

I’ve gone through all the department store brands from Clinique to Lancome to Clarins to Perricone. My skin still looks the same. I would love to win this contest and take the challenge. I’m 59 turning 60 this year. I am cosmetic junkie and love trying new stuff. I think my skin looks pretty good but am concerned that I cannot maintain this forever. I’m noticing larger pores, more redness, and uneven texture. Would love to try something new!

I use Str-Vectin products with pretty good results. Would love to compare Olay to see if it’s the same or better.

What a great idea. I am currently using a variety of products but am a Lancome gal. It is quite expensive though, not sure it is working and I would like to give a try to something new such as Olay Pro-X anti-aging kit. I am now 50 and seeing the lines appearing faster after years of working and mothering. I am fit and feel good. I would like to keep putting my best face forward.

    Many thanks for this.

I’ve been using a myriad of products over the years (Clinique, Neutrogena, Aveeno, No. 7, etc). I tend to buy products by type, rather than by line. However, since I now spend the winters in Mexico, I am more concerned than ever about sun damage and protecting my skin as I head towards my 60s.

I have been using many different products – trying anything that promises to work – including Strivectin. No results apparent in my 61 years. Would love to try something else and see if it really does work. Thanks!

I just bought and started to use Lancome Genifique cream serum and the eye cream for 84.00 and 60.00 and they guarantee you will see results in seven days of your skin looking smoother and retexturized. Personally I don’t think you will see anything improved in 7 days. I heard a lot of good reviews about the Olay Pro-x so this will be very interesting to see the results of this challenge. I just turned 50 and I know exactly what Peri is talking about….good luck!

Olay is proven to be as good as high-end dept store products- but they are going up in price. I have seen this set in the drugstores and wondered if it does what it says– I have much interest in this product.
The whole Olay line is very good- I have used the lotion and soap for years. Pick me please!!

I use Olay regenerist and get compliments on my appearance. I have a sample of the ProX, but haven’t used it yet. Maybe I will to see the difference. Really love Olay products and wouldn’t switch.

I was using Channel, but now that I am semi-retired, I cannot afford it. Now I am trying over the counter products and I have not found one that I totally love. My
latest was No. 7. I would love to try this product.
