On behalf of Olay, FOF invited Peri, one of our FOFriends, to switch from her department store skincare brand and try the Olay Pro-X anti-aging starter kit (retail value: $62). As part of its “28-Day Challenge,” Peri should see an improvement in her overall skin health in just four weeks, according to Olay. We’ve asked Peri to write a guest blog at the start of the challenge and another when it’s over.
Peri’s wrinkle analysis (left) and spot analysis (right).
At 53, I never turn down an offer to try the next best thing to improve the elasticity and firmness of my skin. Like many young women, I spent my teens and 20s soaking up the sun, but in my late 30s, little lines were becoming more and more apparent on my face. At 38, I started caring for my skin in earnest and it took many years to reverse much of my sun damage. Now, even though I don’t look my age, I see the signs of aging creeping up on me.
I just finished a six-week regimen using prestige products that cost $125. So when I heard that Olay Pro-X is challenging women to swap their favorite department store brands for its less expensive line, in order to address their skincare concerns, I decided it was worth trying.
I received the Olay Pro-X Anti-Aging Starter Protocol that includes “age repair lotion with SPF 30, wrinkle smoothing cream and eye restoration complex.” I also used a Pro-X Skin Analyzer Headband to examine my facial wrinkling and spots. It showed that I have a “well below average” number of spots and wrinkles, compared to others of my age and skin type. I’m pleased by the results, but I want to continue maintaining my skin to keep its youthful look. It will be interesting to see if the dermatologists and scientists who worked with Olay have together developed a quality product line that will show results in 28 days. It’s Olay vs. department store brands. I will report back then.
–Peri from Westchester, NY
P.S. – Let FOF know what anti-aging regimen you’re using and whether you’d like to take the Pro-X challenge, too. We’ll send the regimen to 10 lucky FOFs.
10 FOFs will win. (See all our past winners, here.) (See official rules, here.) Contest closes August 16th, 2012 at midnight E.S.T.

I’m 60 years old. Have used Garnier, L’Oreal, and Avon products. I just dont see anything. I would love to try Oil of OLay, but cannot afford it
I will be amazed if it worked.
Would love to try the Olay Prox challange; my regimen now is with Plantscriptions.

Sign me up for the regiment to try Olay Pro-X Starter Kit 1nd my face will thank you! I have used Olay in the past but, never one of their more expensive products. I would love to report results!
This design is incredible! You certainly know how to keep a reader amused.
Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well,
almost…HaHa!) Excellent job. I really enjoyed what you had to say, and
more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!

At 53 people say my skin looks great, but when I look in the mirror I see fine lines, some age spots and redness. I always see the Olay Pro X in the store but didn’t know much about it. I’ve gone through all the department store brands from Clinique to Lancome to Clarins to Perricone. My skin still looks the same. I would love to win this contest and take the challenge. Good luck to everyone and especially good luck to Peri. Best, Cathy

I WOULD LOVE TO TRY THE OIL OF OLAY LINE,AND GIVE MY FEEDBACK IF CHOSEN AS A WINNER!
I use Ceralhil Daily Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15. On my delicate undr-eye area I use Life-Flo Pure Argan Oil in the morning and Smoky Mountain Naturals Estriol Cream at night. I’ve been using Olay Foaming Facial Wash for Sensitive skin 2x day for many years and would love to try the Olay Pro-X Anti-Aging Starter Protocol. Thanks!
I just started menopause, and my skin is changing. I had skin cancer several years ago and am careful with with sun now. I have sensitive skin and would love to try to find a product that will work as I get older.
I would love to try this. I have been using whatever samples are available at the makeup counter. But I do not have good results as I cannot afford to actually buy the product to continue the process. Samples are not always readily available so I genarally go without a structured regimen.
I have used ProActive for many years and know I need to ove on to anti-aging products. I have heard good things about the Olay brand-but haven’t taken the leap-I would love to at least try!
Janet S says:
I’ve used such a variety of things, including Olay regenerist, but never this.. from the time I was in elementary school, people have remarked about the dark circles under my eyes… still there, and now some other aging spots. Now that i have a surgery scar on my face, I really would like to try something to improve my skin health on my face, and at least look my age, or better yet, younger!
I’m using a variety of products, mostly Kiehls with some Caudalie throw in. I’d love to take the Pro-X challenge, because I’m always looking for products that really work.
Claire Flaherty says:
My skin is sun-damaged with some serious spots that I would love to treat without going to the dermatologist.
I used Olay products exclusively for many years, but several years ago decided to try other products. Now I use Neutrogena for cleansing and Roc anti-aging Multi-Correxion products. I’d be happy to go back to Olay and willing to pay the price if they work better for me.
I sure would love to know what Peri’s prior anti-aging routine was because she looks great. Pro X has big shoes to fill as I see it but would love to know that fairy tales still come true without the outrageous prices I’ve seen. Love the tested reviews. Keeps me from wasting money on ineffective products.
I am currently using Retin A and Cerave Am & Pm with pretty good results. I m 52 and am willing to try anything once! I have used Olay products in the past..
linda m says:
I love Estee Lauder serums but since I’m unemployed and just finished my EL, I would love to win this!

[…] Peri is taking the 28-day challenge, and you can too! Find out how at Fab Over Fifty. […]
I clean my face with Olay Prox scrub, use La Roche Posay Redermic (R), Roc eye cream, and a moisturizer in the day. At night, I clean with Olay ProX, use Tazorac, and Roc eye cream. I would love to try the Olay PROX challange.
I would love the opportunity to try this Olay product line. What I would really like to find is a reasonably priced product that visibly shrinks pores.
Elaine Campbell says:
I’m using Cetaphil cleanser and Olay Complete Ageless lotion. I’m right in the middle of my 50’s and I know I could use a little more help. I’d love to take the Pro-X challenge!
I use L’Oreal products but I am all for trying new thinks and this product looks ammesing. I would just love to try it.
I use Olay or L’Oreal products, whichever one is on sale. I’ve used Olay products since my teen years. I’ve wanted to try the ProX but it’s more than I can spend. I am unemployed and barely covering my expenses.
I’m using the meijer brand skin care lotion, would love to try Oil of Olay’s
I use Avon’s ANEW would like to compare it to Olay’s Pro X
I’ve tried many otc products with no noticable results —I’m currently experimenting with strivectin—can’t yet see much change, but know my age is the major factor. Would be more than happy to try Pro-X,especially if it is less expensive & delivers what it promises.
I have always used Lancome, but would love to try this program.
I have been using a variety of Lancome products recommended and have not seen a change. I am turning 60 August 27th and want to take as good care of my skin as possible….have heard great things about these Olay Pro X Products!
I am ready for the challenge!

I’ve used Olay moisturizer for many years. I have tried switching, but always go back to my tried and true. I’d love to try the ProX regimen.
I’d like to try this Pro-X regimen. I’m not following a particular product regimen right now. However, I did receive an Olay battery-operated facial cleaning brush as a Christmas gift last year and like it very well.
I’m turning fifty next months, and have been trying almost everything at the cosmetic counters, which are very expensive and haven’t found anything that helps reduce the signs of aging and would love to try this product.
I’ve been told that this product has great results! Anxious to try it!
carrie obrien says:
None to speak of–would love it!
I’m not using anything like this at the moment, & would love to give the regimen a try.
I have been using Estee Lauder skin care products for ages. While the products are satisfactory – they are unstable….something new every few months and the $$$ are becoming fewer and further between. I volunteer to be an Olay tester. The promise sounds intriguing.
I don’t have an anti-aging regimen per say. I use what comes available to me, I try to stay out of the sun, don’t wear makeup everyday so as to not pull at my skin & do my best not to smile ‘cos it causes wrinkles … okay I’m kidding about the smiling part. If I’m gonna be old, I’d rather not be a grumpy old lady 😉 So yes, I’d like to take the Pro-X challenge too! Thanks & have a fab day.
KIM D. says:
Strivectin and DDF – and yes, I’d like to take the Pro-X Challenge.
I mix and match right now. Believe it or not I use a brand from Aldi. From all the comments, there doesn’t seem to be a magical product that works for everyone. I think we spend way too much on products that we aren’t happy with! Would love to try Pro-x. Hope they don’t keep raising the price though.
Christine Norman says:
I use a variety of Loreal, Olay, Neutrogena, etc. products as I purchase them when on sale and with coupons. I have never tried the Olay Pro-X, but would love to give this regimen a challenge.
love to take the challenge, not using anything now
Laura Borud says:
I use Lancome products. Except face wash which is drugstore cheap stuff. Years ago I tried Oil of Olay and broke out. Been afraid to try any of the new stuff but I’m sure it wouldn’t have same result. I do love my Lancome Genifique, supposed to see results in 7 days, I saw immediate results! 3 days, WOW!
I use Olay regenerist serum and would like to try the pro-x line.
Mary Beth says:
I am using the hit or miss regimen!! I usually use Olay moisturizer for my face and also varied products for my eye area. Would love to try the Pro-X.

I just started using Dr. Dennis Gross and would love to try this Olay Pro-X Starter Kit! I love skin care products and I have heard a lot of good things about Pro-X! 🙂
Maria Bell says:
I’ve been using Signature Club A which is very expensive. I’m really good about using my products faithfully day & night. However I’m not seeing any amazing results. It’s so frustrating!!! I would be a good 64 yr. old diva to try this product & see if it works for me.
Kai W. says:
I have been using Boot No. 7 eye cream, Garnier Frutuise SPF 15 day moisturizer for my face and Clean and Clear for my face. I do get adult acne from time to time.
Gail d says:
I use the opal eye and wrinkle treatment by clairsonic. It seems to reduce some wrinkles, but I’m always looking to improve my dark circles!
I have been using Olay Total Effects but think it is time to move on to something else as I get older.
I would love to test this product
Diane Lamoreaux says:
Have used Olay products in the past, but have been trying various drug store products over the last year. Have not found one that I really like. Would like to try Olay’s Pro X…Think I should never have left the product.
CaRol Thesing says:
I have tried every product and cover up made and have never had good result. I have sun damage on both sides of my face and I am very self conscience. I am a social worker and helps others, but I do not make enough money to buy expensive product. My grandmother used Oil of Olay until she died at age 100. I would like to follow in her footsteps and use OOO.
I would love to use your product and show the world the great results.
I would love to give olay a trial run. I am using their face cand have been using Patricia Wexler products but after being unemployed I was unable to afford them so have been trying some others. I tried to order the headband to test my levels but they were out and not taking anymore orders for this free product. The Olay line is on my list to try since it has been winning awards for this product. Even better would be to win a trial and hopefully love it and become a lifelong user of it.
I am using Avon serum and anti-wrinkle cream…I try them all with hope of youthfullness (is that a word?) returning…
I’m currently using philosophy. I used to use Olay and would love to try this as I’ve always trusted Olay. It would be nice to have an affordable skin care regimen.
I have tried just about anything and everything on the market for wrinkles and nothing seems to work… I have OTC, ASO TV, and Celebrity Advertised products…
I would love to see less wrinkles, less under eye bags, and a glow to my skin…
Barbara Disney says:
I have been using Anew products for years. Would love to try these products
I’ve been using the Roc line and not seeing much difference – love to try this for my saggy eyelids and jowls.
I am 68 yrs. old. I have thought of trying Olay, but I can not get free samples . Drugstore skincare is not inexpensive for me because I must buy it to try it. My skin is very sensitive. Perricone MD products, which I use, are way too expensive for me, but they work & I have no waste.
note: Olay’s sizes are also very small.
Carol Myers says:
I am using Avalon Organics CoQ10 Organic skin care products. I really like the texture of my skin using these. I don’t know if they work, but I have no complaints! I would really love to try the Olay system. I have seen the same advertisement and have been wondering what it would do for me!
Mary F. says:
I use Oil of Olay daily moisturizer and love it. I haven’t tried any of the Pro-X products but would love to!
I was using Clinique, but would love to try this challenge
Tamera Stevens says:
I use Avon peels & try to get Olay products when I can afford them. As another reader said, Olay’s prices are really going up for some reason!
I am currently using Philosophy “Hope in a Jar” and other products on my face. I would like to try something new!
I would really like to try the whole regimen.
KAREN COGBURN says:
I have been using Olay Regenerist but not satisfied. Love to test.
love the Pro X..guess that disqualifies me…but it is a wonderful product line..and Olay almost always has a rebate available..making it an even greater deal.
Claire Amato says:
I love Olay products! Whatever I seem to try it doesn’t work. I would love to try Olay Pro-X. I need this! Pick me!
Sherry Fraser says:
I have been searching for reasonably priced products and haven’t really found any that really work or don’t have issues for my skin. I would love to give these a try.
Carolyn Mason says:
I have used Mary Kay but would love to try the ProX very much. I have wanted to buy it before but wasn’t sure if it was any better than what I was using.
I have always used Oil of Olay with sunscreen. I love their new anti aging creams (with SS). I have tried countless of others but always went back to Oil of Olay. Our mothers and grandmothers were onto something. I used to add a little sunscreen to my Oil of Olay 30 years ago (before they started adding it). This stuff sounds GREAT!!! I would love to try it!
Barbara wicklund says:
Right now am using Previse and would love to take this challenge!
I use Bioelements and Lancome, but am always on the lookout for less expensive comparable products. Would really love to give the Pro-X a try!
I’m using sort of a mish-mosh of products right now… Lancome, Origens, Philosphy, Garnier – you get the drift! Love to use ALL ONE line, to see if it made a defference! This line has good promos, love to try it out for myself!!! Thanks for the chance…..
Nancy Jachcik says:
I have been using Neo Strata 15 AHA and Loreal Revitalift with fair results. Would love to try Olay Pro X and compare the results.
I have been using Lancome but I would love to try the Olay Pro-X and see if it would tighten up my skin and reduce the fine lines and wrinkles.
I currently use Avon Anew eye cream and have yet to see much improvement in the lines around my eyes, my forehead has deep lines and the sides of my neck have a lot of brown spots. At 56 I feel my skin looks older.
Olay, My face would be a challenge like no other challege. 61yrs. old, sagging eyelids, fine and deep lines, puffy under eyes, broken capillaries, age spots, and enlarged pores. I would bet you’re not up for it!
I just recently purchased the strivectin kit that includes a wrinkle cream, tightening cream for face and one for the neck. I’m just now starting it so I’m not sure what to expect, but obviously I’m looking for an effective treatment. If that doesn’t work, I’ll be looking for something else and Olay seems to be a good one.
freda witt says:
Olay is a brand I know and trust. I would be soooo happy to try it!
My anty-aging regimen is Olay Regenerist Serum. I like it, but I would love to try something new. The Pro-X challenge is the think I would love to do.
Sheila Chaffins says:
I am not using any anti-aging regimen right now. I would love to take the Pro-X challenge. Please pick me!

Have been using Youth Code, which purportedly has 30 sun block that doesn’t block much of anything here in the desert. I’ve used OLay products in the past and would like to try them again.
Debra S says:
Okay THIS I would LOVE to test! I am fighting aging skin with all I’ve got. I try everything, I have found favorites..
Believe it or not, Gold Bond moisturizer with the ceramides rock!~
Sometimes, retinol creams, too. I have to adapt with the seasons.
Olay is a trusted product line for me, I would love to test this out!
I would like to try it.

.I’ve read about the different products offered and an confused…I am 63 and have pretty good skin( worked hard) would like to be a convert!!! PLEASE choose me!
Darbi Rash says:
Would like to try this line by Olay. My mother was 86 when she passed on, her skin was beautiful, and she lived in Florida. Some little lines. She could afford any skin care but her favorite was always Oil of Olay – from when I lived at home. Now a new generation of Olay is here, this would be so great to try and to carry on the wonderful legacy of Olay from my mom! Thanks, Darbi Rash
I went back to Clinique’s 3 step system…used to work 20 years ago!
Carol Cotton says:
I currently use Boots products, but would willingly try the Pro-X anti-aging starter. My grandmother swore by Oil of Olay and had the most beautiful, wrinkle-free skin through her 80’s and 90’s.
Loesje Shema says:
I am willing to try practically anything that doesn’t cost so much I have to give up eating.
Carol C says:
I use Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair. I think it does a good job but is a little on the pricey side. I am retiring at the end of the year and will probably look for something less expensive. I would love to try this.
Usually use L’Oreal products but would love to try these Olay products. Always open to trying a new product that will give me better results.
I am not using an aging program. I am retired and trying to save money so I have used various over the counter products. I would love to try this product!
Age spots are a bigger deal for me in my 60’s than wrinkles, though I do have wrinkles too! Would love to try this line! I’ve tried other brands for spots but with no results.
I presently use a Kiehl’s moisturizer, but other than that and a little daily sunscreen under my foundation, nothing! I have a hard time really seeing results even when following instructions. My skin is a mixed bag of oily t zone, blotchiness, some dry patches, occasional acne, large pores, and a few dark spots. Few wrinkles though because I don’t tan so I stayed out of the sun. My skin needs some TLC but I don’t know where to turn, so I would love to try this regimen.
I LOVE Olay products! Everything I have tried has worked well for me at such good prices! I will be anxious to hear how the products work for you. I would LOVE to win this offer also and report back to you! Thanks so much!
I’m 61 and trying to preserve any “youthfulness”. I accept the challenge. I use a variety of products from olay, ganier and l’oreal but really just buy what is on sale. I have broken capillaries and uneven skin.
I would like to find a system that I love and that works and is affordable, too!
amy mayer says:
I am currently using random products…Olay daily defense, and a sample size of Mario Badescu eye cream– I would LOVE to try this because I have read so much about the effectiveness..
Would love to win!
Oops, forgot to say I have been using Stem Cell Therapy.
At 61, I would LOVE to try this! 🙂
Camilla Wilson says:
I have used Pro X in past was thrilled with the results.
I’m currently trying Murad products for aging skin and like it, but I’m always looking for something better!
I use the Olay Pro X for eyes and really like the results!
I right now use clarisonic with biore cleanser and kiehls spf, would love to try this for sure!!
I currently use a prescription retinol cream, regenerist moisturizer and Bobbi Brown tinted moisturizer. I have found eye cream enhance the appearance of bags but do not eliminate or reduce the fine lines. I would love to try the Pro X. I am ready for the challenge!
I was totally blown away with Carolyn Diamond’s Skin logics, specially the Utlra Benefits, they really work and shows change within 7 days. Unfortunately, I can’t afford it right now. I use Olay and try my best to moisturize with the Regenerist serum. I would love to try the Olay ProX Anti-aging starter protocol kit, since Olay has given me the same glamour care as other expensive ones.
Deborah Dahlgren says:
Currently using Perricone MD but would love to see if I can find something more budget friendly but just as effective, please consider me for this trial, would love to participate, thank you very much
I have tired one other of this product line, but would be interested in trying others.
Deb M says:
I’m 59 turning 60 this year. I am cosmetic junkie and love trying new stuff. I think my skin looks pretty good but am concerned that I cannot maintain this forever. I’m noticing larger pores, more redness, and uneven texture. Would love to try something new!
I’m not using anything, but it’s clearly obvious that I need to……
Mary W says:
I use Str-Vectin products with pretty good results. Would love to compare Olay to see if it’s the same or better.
What a great idea. I am currently using a variety of products but am a Lancome gal. It is quite expensive though, not sure it is working and I would like to give a try to something new such as Olay Pro-X anti-aging kit. I am now 50 and seeing the lines appearing faster after years of working and mothering. I am fit and feel good. I would like to keep putting my best face forward.
Many thanks for this.
Theresa mann says:
Not currently using any special regimen…need to start and would to try Olay
I’ve been using a myriad of products over the years (Clinique, Neutrogena, Aveeno, No. 7, etc). I tend to buy products by type, rather than by line. However, since I now spend the winters in Mexico, I am more concerned than ever about sun damage and protecting my skin as I head towards my 60s.
I have been using many different products – trying anything that promises to work – including Strivectin. No results apparent in my 61 years. Would love to try something else and see if it really does work. Thanks!
I put on anti aging lotion/oil in morning and night -so-so results. Would love to try the Pro X challenge to see if it helps!
Mary G says:
I use — and like — the Roc retinol creams for wrinkles and lines and Olay Complete as a sunscreen/moisterizer. Would like to test this complete package.
I use Olay Regenerist serum, but have been wanting to try the ProX. I would love to be able to try the ProX regimen!
Yes! Yes! I would love to test this>
I have been trying avon, would love to try this, please
I just bought and started to use Lancome Genifique cream serum and the eye cream for 84.00 and 60.00 and they guarantee you will see results in seven days of your skin looking smoother and retexturized. Personally I don’t think you will see anything improved in 7 days. I heard a lot of good reviews about the Olay Pro-x so this will be very interesting to see the results of this challenge. I just turned 50 and I know exactly what Peri is talking about….good luck!
I bounce back and forth between Loreal and Olay.
Dorothy B says:
Help my eyes are sagging. Would love to take the challenge
Olay is proven to be as good as high-end dept store products- but they are going up in price. I have seen this set in the drugstores and wondered if it does what it says– I have much interest in this product.
The whole Olay line is very good- I have used the lotion and soap for years. Pick me please!!
Nancy M says:
I use Olay regenerist and get compliments on my appearance. I have a sample of the ProX, but haven’t used it yet. Maybe I will to see the difference. Really love Olay products and wouldn’t switch.
Judi DeVere says:
I use argan oil under my eyes and an argan oil moisturizer. I enjoy how soft my skin is but do not notice any improvement in skin. Love to try something new.
Charleen Dowell says:
I was using Channel, but now that I am semi-retired, I cannot afford it. Now I am trying over the counter products and I have not found one that I totally love. My
latest was No. 7. I would love to try this product.
