{Poll} Bizarre Celeb Beauty Rituals: Would you try them?

*Sigh* the things FOFs do for beauty! And these 5 FOF celebs take it to a whole new level… Read about their bizarre beauty rituals, see what a dermatologist thinks, then vote: Would you try it?

Call it vinotherapy. Actually, that’s what top resorts in Spain, Portugal and France are already calling pricey beauty treatments where wine residue is rubbed into the skin. In The Black Book of Hollywood Beauty Secrets,  Kym Douglas and celebrity journalist Cindy Pearlman write that Teri Hatcher uses sediment from red wine to polish her skin in the tub. “I scoop them up and use them as an exfoliant,” says Teri. “The only bad thing is you can’t drink the whole bottle of wine.” According to the authors, polyphenols found in grapes get blood flowing.

Dr. Krant says: “Scrubbing and massaging get blood flowing on their own, so it’s not clear if she is getting the benefit she expects from the red wine itself. Proanthocyanidins from red grapes have been shown to have real health benefits from their antioxidant properties when ingested, but the anti-aging effect from topical use has much less scientific evidence behind it.”

Milk does a body good…but what about a face?  Cindy Crawford thinks so. The Daily Record reports that the almost-FOF supermodel mixes milk and water and sprays in on her face to keep her skin hydrated. Milk baths have apparently been around for centuries; historical beauties including Cleopatra and Elizabeth I of England indulged in the lactic luxury. Everybody’s mooin..er..doin’ it.

Dr. Krant says: “Milk contains lactic acid which does contain some exfoliative and skin-softening properties. Milk fats also help moisturize and keep skin supple.”

Ever wonder how some celebs get that “baby-faced” complexion? Just ask FOF diva Madonna, who reportedly uses a face cream made with human placenta. The product is called EMK Placental, and according to BeautyUndercover.com, Madonna and a slew of other A-listers are using it. Placenta “helps oxygenate your skin…improve natural cellular renewal and… protects your skin from the assault of environmental stress, UV radiation…and the natural aging process,” according to the EMK Placental product website.

Dr. Krant says: “Placenta contains many growth factors and vitamins. It has been studied for wounds, but there has been little to no scientific proof of its affect on intact, healthy human skin.”

Almost-FOF actress Sandra Bullock has become the butt of tabloid jokes for her bizarre beauty ritual. Glamour UK reports that Sandra uses hemorrhoid cream under her eyes to reduce puffiness. “I didn’t realise that putting hemorrhoid ointment on your face is acceptable in the beauty business,” says Sandra. “But apparently, butt cream helps lines around the eyes!” Sandra says it’s true….so, no butts about it.

Dr. Krant says: Preparation H from the 1950’s did contain an ingredient, Bio-Dyne (R), that helped de-puff, but that ingredient has been removed from the modern version of the cream–in the United States. Bio-Dyne does still come in the Canadian preparation. So it’s not just any hemorrhoid cream that can do the trick. Makes you wonder which one Sandra is using….

Debra Messing doesn’t throw a hissy fit about her eye wrinkles… No, she just uses snake venom to smooth them out. That’s right, this almost-FOF actress uses an eye cream which contains snake’s venom as an active ingredient, according to The Sun, “The venom slows the reponses of the face muscles, creating a wrinkle-free effect.”

Dr. Krant says: “Venom has not been proven to penetrate through healthy, intact skin to the deep layers where the target muscles lie. This product likely has no scientific benefit (in the manner claimed) at all. In order to get the muscle-weakening benefit, the only proven treatment is still injected botulinum toxins (Botox) and Dysport, and a new one coming out soon. Sorry, needle-phobes.”

Talk about a detox. MSNBC reports that actress Demi Moore uses “highly-trained medical leeches” to keep healthy. “It detoxifies your blood,” she told Letterman.  Demi explains that these blood sucking vermin, “have a little enzyme that gets released into your blood… and your health is optimized.” Um, okay… “I feel like I’ve always been someone looking for the cutting edge of things that optimize your health and healing,” she says. Despite Demi’s loyalty to leeches, we predict this beauty trend will be sluggish to catch on…

Dr. Krant says: “Leeches have been used for centuries in medical treatments. Hirudo medicinalis, or medicinal leeches, likely the ‘highly-trained’ species Demi is referring to, are used effectively by surgeons to aid in wound cleaning, reconstructive surgery and other advanced treatments, but currently there is no proof that leech therapy has any anti-aging properties. Do not try this at home since uncontrollable, prolonged bleeding and infection can be undesired side effects.”

{Poll} Which FOF celeb home would you most want to move into?

These five FOF celeb homes were recently listed….. If money were no object (it’s fun to play pretend!) which one would you move into? Answer our poll below.

—————————————————————————————————–

Remember the breathtaking Malibu beach house in Sex and the City, where Samantha Jones lived with her beau, Smith Jerrod? That was no movie set. The five-bedroom, six-bathroom beachfront shangri-la is real… and for rent! You’ll need to shell out $55,000 each month, but, hey… you can’t put a price on fame…er… pretending to be famous. Then again, you’ll hardly need to pretend — it comes with all the original furniture from the movie. Strut like Samantha, passed your enormous glass wall with breathtaking ocean views to the bar (cosmo…anyone!?).  Unfortunately, Dante, the showering next-door neighbor, is not included!

Joan Rivers’ Upper East Side apartment is certainly a Piece of Work. The 5,190 square foot apartment, on the market since 2009, was featured in a 2010 documentary about Joan, by that name. The pad was restored to its original architectural detail by museum-trained artisans, “unlike Joan’s face,” according to a New York Magazine article which goes on to call the décor “surprisingly old-lady Versailles.” Still, the penthouse boasts a suite of superb reception rooms, a dramatic two-story gallery, a light-flooded living room, a spacious paneled library and a formal dining room. To top it all off is a terrace with majestic views of the city and Central Park…umm, “can we talk?

Was T.V. queen Sharon Osbourne off-her-rocker when she bought this Hidden Hills home in 2003? She and Ozzy have barely stayed there, renting it out to tenants for $25,000 to $40,000 a month for the past eight years. This year, just weeks after the British pair were slapped with a $1.7 million dollar tax lien, the 4,500 sq. ft., 5-bedroom, 5-bathroom home was listed for $10 million. No rock paraphernalia here, but you will find a huge gourmet kitchen, a garden terrace, a hot tub and a large master suite with walk-in closets and a marble bath.

—————————————————————————————————–

In 2009, 92-year-old Hungarian-born actress Zsa Zsa Gabor was reported to have lost $7 million in the Madoff Ponzi scheme. On top of that, the ailing actress’s “medical bills are mounting,” according to The Guardian. Did she list her Bel Air mansion to increase cash flow? Whatever the reason, the estate, once owned by Elvis Presley, was built in the “Hollywood Regency style” and has four bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms, a pool and about 6,000 square feet of living space. But, is the property, currently listed at $15 million, cursed? The home was burglarized in February, and in late 2010 Prince Frederic von Anhalt (Zsa Zsa’s husband) thought he saw a massive snake on the mansion’s grounds. But, who cares about a little bad karma when you could be lounging by the pool where Zsa Zsa swam naked every morning, or entertaining guests where the Reagans, Bob Hope and Frank Sinatra partied.

When a 1938 hurricane wiped the Hepburn family’s summer home off the map, Katharine used toy blocks to show builders exactly how she wanted the house rebuilt. Now, Katharine’s dream home is on the market for $28 million. The sprawling waterfront Connecticut estate, where the actress died in 2003, has been extensively renovated by the current owners but maintains much of the historical integrity. If you’re not spooked by the prospect of Katharine’s ghost, then you may want to consider making this 8,000 square foot, six-bedroom, seven-and-a-half bath oasis your home. Stalled by the steep price tag? A sweeping view of the Long Island Sound and the original fireplace where Katharine was often photographed may seal the deal.

{Poll} Are these FOF celebs acting spiritual or silly?

Bless their souls for their unwavering devotion… or should we say a prayer for these FOF celebs? Read about their religious practices, then decide, are these stars “acting” spiritual or just plain silly?

PLAYBOY: Sounds like you have all the answers. Where do we go when we die?
Kirstie Alley: We just pick another body. We go to the nearest hospital where women are giving birth, find some good-looking parents and jump in.

-Excerpt from an interview with Playboy on her beliefs rooted in Scientology, 2008.

Scientology may have saved Kirstie Alley’s soul… but has Kirstie sold her soul to them? In 1979, the FOF actress attended a Scientology-supported rehab program which she says saved her from a serious cocaine addiction. “I thought, O.K., this is either the world’s biggest scam or it’s fabulous,” she said in a Time Magazine article. “I stopped working, quit my job, and I drove my car to California to be a Scientologist.” In 2000, Kirstie Alley bought a $1.5 million mansion in Clearwater, FL, Scientology’s spiritual headquarters. In 2007, she gifted $5 million to the Church of Scientology and appeared in this preachy pamphlet in which she gives the religion rave reviews. In addition to saving her from a drug addiction, Kirstie Alley credits Scientology – along with Jenny Craig – for helping her lose weight, says CBS News. “Without Scientology, I’d be dead,” Kirstie Alley said, according to Gawker.

Is Madonna practicing Kabbalah in good faith? On her Re-Invention World Tour in 2004, Madonna rocked a “Kabbalists Do It Better” t-shirt. In 1997 she threw a Kabbalah cocktail party. “Since Madonna first started singing Kabbalah’s praises six years ago — literally, on her 1998 album Ray of Light— she has arguably become the practice’s most prominent advocate,” according to a USA Today article from 2004. She may be the most prominent advocate, but Madonna’s showy acts of spirituality have upset some Rabbis and scholars who say she’s “preaching a practice whose ties to traditional, ancient Kabbalah are tenuous at best and treacherous at worst,” according to the same USA Today article. “Watchdog types say the Kabbalah Center is more about merchandising — ’empowered’ stones, soul-cleansing water, those $26 strings — than enlightenment.” According to a BBC article, Madonna defended her practice of Kabbalah, saying, “it would be less controversial if I joined the Nazi Party,” and it’s “not hurting anybody.”

There’s a real, live witch hunt going on in Hollywood, with FOF singer-songwriter Stevie Nicks in question for her involvement in Wicca. Known for her mystical fashion  — billowing chiffon skirts, shawls and layers of lace — it’s no mystery where the rumors of witchcraft surfaced. “Some rather credulous people believe her lyrics in songs such as Rhiannon, Gold Dust Woman and even the recent Sorcerer reference a demi-monde of white magic and wiccan ritual,” writes Guy Blackman in a 2006 article for The Age. Furthermore, her music is copyrighted under the name Welsh Witch Music. When confronted about the rumors Stevie says it’s all a bunch of hocus-pocus. “I have no idea what precipitated those rumors… I am not a witch. Get a life!” she said in a Yahoo chat in 1998. “I spent thousands of dollars on beautiful black clothes and had to stop wearing them for a long time because a lot of people scared me. And that’s really unfair to me, I think, for people – other people – to conjure up their ideas of what I am or what I believe in,” Nicks said in a 1983 Entertainment Tonight interview.

Academy Award winning English actress and FOF Judi Dench was first attracted to the Quaker faith because she loved the school uniforms, according to an article on the Hampshire Quakers website. But, her devotion to the religion has become much more than a fashion statement.  Raised Methodist, she converted to Quakerism after attending The Mount School, a Quaker public secondary school in York, England. “It’s essential to my life and work,” she said of her faith to a reporter for The Guardian. But it seems, she still has a sense of humor about her faith. “When we were doing Arbuzov’s The Promise,” she recalls, “I said to Ian McKellen we should keep three seats empty and imagine we were playing to God the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Ian rather wittily said, ‘Surely we’ll only need one seat rather than three?'”

A hot debate has surfaced over FOF actress Trudie Styler and rock star hubby, Sting’s sex life. The couple have long been rumored to practice tantric sex “in which they use yoga to achieve prolonged states of ecstasy,” according to a New York Post article. “Sadomasochism is the new Tantra,” Trudie once said according to a Huffington Post article. Tantra is “Hindu or Buddhist scriptures dealing especially with techniques and rituals including meditative and sexual practices,” according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary. Still, Hindu leaders are not amused by the couple’s loose interpretation of tantra as a sex practice. “Hindus welcomed Hollywood and other celebrities to immerse in Hinduism, but taking it seriously and not just flirting with its terminology and concepts and using it as a fashion statement,” Rajan Zed, president of Universal Society of Hinduism said according to TheIndian.com.

{Poll} Do these FOF celeb suits sink or swim?

We applaud an FOF who hits the beach with confidence–especially when she knows she’s going to be photographed. Take a look a these FOF celebs in their bathing suits. Would you say everything went swimmingly for these stars, or did their fashion sense sink when they stepped on the sand?

“Julianne Moore is not shy about much, whether it is her body, age or kissing other women,” according to The New York Daily News. The actress, who just turned fifty, posed nude for a racy Bulgari ad that ran last year. When asked about it, she joked, “I like to call myself the hundred-year-old model.” Last November, she posed in a Hervé Léger by Max Azria cutout one-piece bathing suit for Allure. Upon finding out she’d be posing in swimwear, she joked with creative director Paul Cavaco, “Something with a skirt, I hope.” The above photo was snapped in Los Angeles in June, 2009.

Teen-model-turned-actress Anjelica Huston is pictured above vacationing in the Caribbean in late 2009. According to the Daily Mail, the 59-year-old actress retreated to the beach to relax after the death of her husband, Robert Graham, an acclaimed sculptor. Later that day she “Covered up and slipped into a tie-dye dress before embarking upon a dingy boat,” according to the Daily Mail.

Famously svelte FOF actress Goldie Hawn was spotted on a Malibu beach with her daughter Kate Hudson, son Oliver Hudson and grandson Ryder, according to PopSugar. At 65, she may opt for more covered up swimwear but that wasn’t always the case. At the age of thirty-nine, Hawn posed for the cover of Playboy’s January 1985 issue in a giant martini glass wearing nothing but a white collar shirt, a loosened black tie, and a pair of red stilettos. It became one of their highest selling issues although according to Starpulse it sparked “a ridiculous controversy…over whether a woman going-on 40 could still be a sex-symbol.”

Janice Dickinson, the 56-year-old “America’s Next Top Model” judge, self-proclaimed “first supermodel,” and mother of two was spotted “frolicking in the sunshine in a yellow-and-white two piece swimsuit during her Hawaiian vacation,” according to the website CelebGlitz. Janice, has openly admitted she’s gone under the knife. “She has had a breast enlargement, tummy tuck, neck and facelifts, liposuction and Botox,” according to The Daily Mail. According to ABC News, Janice has “no regrets” about her plastic surgery procedures…After all, should she?

FOF Jerry Hall was discovered as a model in her teens, sunbathing on a Saint Tropez beach. Over three decades later, Jerry was again spotted catching rays in the South of France (see above photograph). This time though, she’s 54 and the mother of four. Still, “she was turning heads as she walked along the beach,” an onlooker said. That was not the case a few years back, when according to The Daily Mail, two unflattering bathing suit photos of Jerry surfaced. First, there was the “most unfortunate shot of her way back in 2001 showing off a crop of dimples as she stood in the water in a black one-piece.” Then, there was a photo of her “with a smattering of cellulite on her thighs as she boarded a boat” in 2009 — “blips in her perfect bikini record.”

FOF celeb chef and “queen of food porn,” Nigella Lawson is known for her flirtatious on-air personality. She was even once named the “third most beautiful woman in the world,” according to The Guardian.  But, she was recently spotted, off-air, on Sydney’s Bondi Beach all covered up in a burka-like bathing suit. “Nigella was protecting herself from sunburn, nothing more than that,” said her spokesman, according to The Telegraph. The article also says that Nigella purchased the “burkini” (which has an SPF of 50+!) from Islamic swimwear company Modestly Active.

FOF Sharon Stone is notoriously shameless about baring it all. In 1992 she shocked audiences as a sexy killer in the erotic thriller Basic Instinct. “The beautiful blonde…revealed her fabulous physique to the audience—leaving NOTHING to the imagination!” according to Radar online. To coincide with the 1990 release of Total Recall, she posed nude for Playboy showing off the . . . muscles she developed in preparation for the movie. In 1999, she was rated among the 25 sexiest stars of the century by Playboy. More recently, the 53-year-old actress was spotted and photographed on vacation in Sardinia, Italy, once again flaunting her figure.

When FOF actress Helen Mirren was photographed wearing a red bikini in summer 2008, the media went wild. “Helen Mirren the bikini queen reigns supreme at 63” was a headline in the The Daily Mail. The Huffington Post called the Oscar-winning actress a “bathing bikini beauty.” Helen, herself, couldn’t even believe it. ‘The truth is,” she said, “I don’t really look that good,” reported The Daily Mail. “I look like a woman in her 60s. I’ve always looked awful in a bikini, even when I was younger.”

{Poll} FOF celeb chefs: ingenious or insane?

These FOF celeb chefs are a polarizing bunch. Women either love them with a cultish fervor, or love to, well, hate them with a cultish fervor. So where do you stand?  Are they FOFabulous Foodies–or the FOFurthest thing from it?

The good, the fab: Yum-O! Say what you want, but almost-FOF Rachael Ray is one of the most powerful celebrities in the world according to Forbes magazine and one of the top 100 most influential people in the world according to Time. The maven of easy weeknight cooking has three Emmy awards under her belt, her own daytime talk show, a magazine, cookbooks and a product line. Her fans love her no-frills approach: anyone can be a good chef, just grab your “EVOO” and get cooking.

The ugly: Rachael Ray has repeatedly come under fire for “her cooking skills, her overreliance on chicken stock, her kitchen hygiene, her smile (often compared to the Joker’s), her voice, her physical mannerisms, her clothes, her penchant for saying ‘Yum-o’ and so on” as noted in a 2006 New York Times article. Famous for teaching viewers how to make meals in less than 30 minutes, many critics claim that the concept doesn’t include preparation time. I’m “a cook, not a chef,” Rachael once admitted to fellow celeb chef Alton Brown. She has also said that measuring “takes away from the creative, hands-on process of cooking” and instead favors approximations such as “half a palmful.”

The good, the fab: Entertaining empress Martha Stewart is a nine-time Emmy-award winner, talk show host, magazine editor, New York Times bestselling author, business magnate and pretty much the worldwide personification of perfection. That is, of course, until she went to jail for a highly-publicized insider trading scandal. Critics predicted her fall from grace would trigger the demise of her media empire. Instead, she launched a successful comeback campaign–her company turned a profit again just one year after she was released from prison. In or out of jail, she consistently sets the standard for haute home keeping.

The ugly: This “ice queen,” as she’s been dubbed by editors, viewers and industry insiders, took major heat when she served time in jail. But even before that, Martha was the butt of many jokes. Said Newsweek, “Her detractors say, ‘Sure, I could have made millions teaching people how to make marzipan kumquats–but I’m too busy thinking about world peace.’ Her fans just want the kumquats.” In 1997, an unauthorized biography, Just Desserts, claimed that she once sued her gardener over pennies, ignores her own daughter, plagiarizes recipes and humiliates her own staff. “Naturally, people hate Martha Stewart,” wrote Patricia McLaughlin in a New York Times article. “She’s rich, she’s blond. And now, she’s even thin.”

The good, the fab: Sandra’s semi-homemade cooking method, which involves 70 percent pre-packaged products with 30 percent fresh items, has struck a cord with busy women everywhere. The self-made star (she was raised on food stamps) is now a semi-homemade millionaire. Her show, Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade Cooking, remains one of the longest-running and top-performing programs on the Food Network. She has written 23 cooking and entertaining books. Kurt Suller of Newsweek even likened her to Julia Child, adding that although her show “is the furthest from Child’s methods,” both women “filled a niche that hasn’t yet been explored.”

The ugly: A “frightening Hell Spawn of Kathie Lee and Betty Crocker,” Anthony Bourdain once called his fellow celeb chef, Sandra Lee. The goddess of all things semi-homemade has been berated for her rampant use of shortcuts and store-bought ingredients loaded with preservatives. She “seems more intent on encouraging people to create excuses for not cooking than on encouraging them to cook wholesome simple foods,” writes Amanda Hesser of The New York Times. But nothing was more controversial then a episode of Sandra Lee’s show during which she created a “Kwanzaa cake” topped with corn nuts. Critics have called it “an abomination,” “disrespectful” and “offensive.” Even Sandra Lee’s “possible future mother-in-law,” (according to the New York Times) doesn’t subscribe to her semi-homemade theory. When asked by a NY1 reporter about Sandra Lee’s lasagna recipe (which uses Campbell’s tomato soup and cottage cheese), Matilda Cuomo replied, “That’s not how you make a lasagna.”

The good, the fab: Queen of southern cuisine, FOF Paula Deen, has charmed fans and restaurant customers for nearly fifteen years. Paula is an  Emmy-award winner for her Food Network show, Paula’s Home Cooking. Her restaurant, Lady and Sons, in Savannah, Georgia, was named by USA Today as the “International Meal of the Year.” (It’s famous for it’s buffet which features sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, deep-fried Twinkies, fried chicken and cheesy meatloaf).  Her memoir, It Ain’t All About the Cookin’, published in 2007, shot to the top of the charts and eventually become a New York Times bestseller. Fans love her folksy banter, decadent recipes and slightly bawdy sense of humor.

The ugly: “The mistress of mayonnaise” has been harshly reprimanded for reckless use of butter, mayo and other fattening foods and techniques in her cooking. In a Huffington Post story, called “How Can Paula Deen Sleep at Night?”, author Christina Pirello writes, “In the name of southern hospitality and tradition, she has fried her way into the clogged hearts of America.” Soon after she released Lunch-Box Set, her cookbook for kids, Paula appeared on The View. “Obesity is the number one problem for kids today,” Barbara Walters said to her. “Everything you have here is enormously fattening. You tell kids to have cheesecake for breakfast… does it bother you that you’re adding to it?”

{Poll} Which celeb is the stingiest?

We hear so much gossip about the lavish lifestyles of loaded stars, but, talk is cheap…and so are these 4 FOF celebs. In your opinion, who is the stingiest?

Barbra Streisand

The frugal facts: Barbra is the veteran of vintage. A 1997 New York Times article about the rising popularity of vintage clothing credits “Babs” as the first female celeb to perform in thrifted togs.

The multimillionairess allegedly left $10 on a $457 bill at a New York restaurant. Shortly after she was heard singing all the way to the bank….
—————————————————————————————————–

Madonna

The frugal facts: Everyone knows “we are living in a material world” but did someone forget to tell the “Material Girl”?  A 2007 novel by a New York waitress exposes Madonna for not leaving a tip after being served in a restaurant. Hey, Madonna, we have a tip for you: Pop icons aren’t excused from dining etiquette!

In a book about Madonna, her own brother calls her “stingy” for giving their grandmother only limited financial help: “But my sister –who in 2008 is worth in excess of $600 million…opted at the time to send our grandmother just $500 a month and to pay her monthly household bills, for Madonna, a drop in the ocean,” wrote her brother. “When I think of Madonna’s wealth, I can’t help but think she’s being stingy with the grandmother who helped raise us.”

—————————————————————————————————–

Teri Hatcher

The frugal facts: Almost-FOF Teri Hatcher plays a well-off Desperate Housewife on television, but in real life this single mom desperately pinches pennies. The actress, estimated to be worth $50 million, told People magazine, “I’m a very conservative person. I drive my cars for 10 years until they have 100,000 miles on them….I don’t spend my money on sports cars or new million-dollar houses. To me, feeling comfortable means having way more than I need in the bank.”

And there’s no costly outsourcing for this Supermom, who “stayed up half the night to turn out such extravaganzas as 300 individually wrapped homemade chocolate butterfly lollipops” for her daughter Emerson’s school, according to an article in Vanity Fair.
—————————————————————————————————–

Queen Elizabeth

The frugal facts:
The recession has even Queen Elizabeth II, the world’s largest personal landowner tightening her royal purse strings. According to FrugallyMinded.com, “The British tabloids frequently allude to the Queen’s passion for turning-off the lights around Buckingham Palace, and tongues have wagged about her cautions to the princes, saying that she sternly has warned them not to flaunt the royal wealth.”

A royal Thriftmas? In 2008 the queen cut back with £7.95 crown decorations to decorate her Christmas tree and by having her presents made in China to save money. “It’s not just at Christmas but right throughout the year that she tries hard to keep costs down.” A spokesperson told Britain’s Hello! magazine. “The queen has been extremely thrifty all her life and jokes that it’s her Scottish blood.”

The spokesperson may not have been kidding about thriftiness being in the queen’s blood… Her mother had a reputation for frugality. According to a recent Telegraph article the Queen Mother “refused to buy a TV…and relied on an ‘antiquated’ video recorder to watch horse racing.” She also “regarded her favourite Burberry jackets as “old friends” from whom she was unable to part. He [her aide] said he did not see her wear a new raincoat during his 28 years of service.”

{Poll} If money were no object… Which lavish celeb vacation would you take?

Earlier this year, on the premier of the 25th and final season of her eponymous talk show, Oprah Winfrey surprised 300 audience members by announcing she was taking them on an eight-day, all-expenses paid vacation to Australia. But even that epic trip doesn’t hold a candle to some of the more extravagant vacations the FOF daytime queen has taken herself. And Oprah’s not the only FOF star who splurges on over-the-top trips. Read about 4 lavish celeb vacations then decide: Which one would you most want to take?

Oprah Winfrey – Necker Island, British Virgin Islands
PRICE: $54,500 – $56,000 per night for up to 28 guests (5 night minimum)

When Oprah wants to live out her Blue Lagoon fantasies she knew exactly where to go: Sir Richard Branson’s 74-acre,  completely private island. There, she and her friends had access to every water sport under the sun, plus a private, high-speed submarine, the Necker Nymph. The 2:1 staff-to-guest ratio makes this island truly fit for royalty, and the Queen of Daytime Television is no exception–while visiting the oasis, she and her “court” were waited on hand-and-foot by the island’s 60 staff members.

Madonna – Christina O Yacht in the Caribbean
PRICE: $64,000 – $93,000 per day

In the 1960s, Aristotle Onassis and Jackie O used this super-yacht as their own floating mansion while entertaining the likes of Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra and Winston Churchill. In 2009, when Madonna chartered a trip, it had long-since been converted to a private playground for celebs at sea. On board, the Material FOF enjoyed Michelin Star cuisine, massages at Six Senses spa, and the legendary pool with mosaic floor – which rises to form a dance floor at the flick of a switch.

Jodie Foster – Hotel Martinez Penthouse Prestige Apartment in Cannes
PRICE: $37,000 per night

For those who like to feel as if they’re living in a 007 movie, consider this palatial penthouse on the French Riviera. When FOF-in-waiting Jodie Foster stays here, she enjoys 24-hour butler service (helpful in case she’s in the master bedroom and too tired to walk all the way to the kitchen for a snack – the suite is, after all, 2,000 square-feet). Should she work up a sweat visiting the linen closet, she can rejuvenate in the in-room Turkish steam bath or enjoy jaw-dropping views of the Mediterranean.

Victoria Principal – Virgin Galactic Spaceflight in sub-orbital outer space (in planning)
PRICE: $200,000 per person

If a stay on a private island is still too terrestrial for you (Necker Island does, after all, share a hemisphere with countless Best Westerns and Days Inns) Sir Richard Branson would love nothing more than to shoot you into outer space. FOF Victoria Principal is among the luminaries who have expressed interest in a Virgin Galactic spaceflight, which would comprise a six-passenger, two-pilot spacecraft taking you 70,000 feet above Mother Earth and back into her warm embrace in around 3.5 hours. The trip will most likely include six minutes of weightlessness, a perk no matter how many carbs you’ve been eating.

{Poll} Celeb Plastic Surgery….Fake or Fabulous?

These 9 FOF celebs went under the knife and…well, you tell us. Do you think their new faces look fake or fabulous? Plus, Dr. Fardad Forouzanpour, board-certified cosmetic surgeon and owner of The Beverly Hills Cosmetic Surgical Group, weighs in. Dr. Fardad specializes in breast augmentations, lifts & reductions, eyelash transplants, rhinoplasties, liposuctions/liposculpture, abdominoplasties and more.

Dr. Fardad: “She looks good, despite a few asymmetries. Her facial features are very natural, but her inner brows are slightly too low.  Looking at the outer corner of her eyes, a little more skin hangs on the right compared to the left.”

Dr. Fardad: “Jane looks natural and not overdone at all.  However, there are a few small corrections she could consider: A slight asymmetry at the outer upper eyelids (there’s more skin hanging on the right side) and a few lines in the outer corner of the eyes.

Dr. Fardad: “She looks very natural and her brows are well-positioned.  She could use some touch-ups: light Botox around the corners of her eyes, a little skin removed from the lower lids and some skin tightening to treat facial lines.”

Dr. Fardad: “Jessica’s cheeks are a little too large for her face, perhaps as the result of an implant or too much filler.  The forehead is a little high.  Her eyes appear to be over-corrected with the lower lid pulled too tight. The right eye appears to be smaller in size than the left. The upper lip shows signs of aging.”

Dr. Fardad: Her cheeks are very large, the lips appear unnatural, the skin looks unhealthy, and her eyes look to be different sizes (the right eye is wider). The lower lids have lines, bulges and looseness.  The chin is slightly droopy which might be due to a malpositioned or too-large implant. It would be tough to make her look completely natural again.”

Dr. Fardad: “Her brows are too lifted making her look permanently surprised. The cheeks are very full and the lower jaw and chin line are quite wide.  The upper eyelids are asymmetrical (more platform on the left than the right).  The skin looks over treated with peels or laser resurfacing — it’s too white, too smooth and too glossy.”

Dr. Fardad: Sharon looks natural and youthful. Her jaw line looks great and facial features are well proportioned.  She doesn’t needs anything done.”

Dr. Fardad:It’s obvious she has had work done.  Her face is very round, and her cheeks are quite full. She has quite a number of lines on the sides of the eyes and upper cheeks.  The eyes are small and perhaps pulled too tight.”
