If you can, stop what you’re doing right this minute, and read this essay. I have only met the author once, but I’ve known her twin sister, mother and stepfather for years, so might not otherwise have had the opportunity to be touched by her extraordinary essence.

If you haven’t yet, don’t read this while you’re at work! It’s beautiful, but yes, it did make me cry. I lost my father a little over a year ago & I understand some of what is mentioned. But of course, losing a father is far different from losing a spouse.
Marilyn Montague says:
It affected me greatly as I can relate to this losing my husband of 40 years to cancer. He only lived 17 days after he was diagnosed. I still cannot comprehend what happened and it has been 2 years and 7 months. Watching him die and feeling helpless was the worst feeling in the world. It is hard being left behind when you loved so deeply as if you were one with your partner/spouse. My husband was cremated so I have him in an urn with me. He is the first and last thing I see each day and night. Although I rarely sleep any longer feeling such a sense of loss without him physically being here to comfort each other. It has been a difficult time to say the least.
