And please don’t weigh yourself, certainly not seven times a day, because that’s only going to make you mighty frustrated and unhappy.

weightIf you can’t help yourself, weigh in once a week, at the same time of day.  

Even if you’re vastly overweight (say 30 or more pounds), you will lose weight if you cut out all the bad foods you know darn well that you’re eating. You don’t need to take a miracle drug or to follow the latest, greatest diet on the internet to reach your goal.

I don’t want to appear simplistic about how hard it is to lose weight, but I know that motivation, disciple, sensible eating, patience, and exercise are the absolute best dieting tenets.

And I’d be neglect if I failed to mention the importance of liking yourself, first and foremost. Feeling good about yourself, emotionally, gives you the motivation to take care of yourself, physically.

I’m not a psychiatrist or a nutritionist. I am a woman who hasn’t always felt good about herself, and now that I do (much of the time, at least), I can safely say that is something to which every one of us should strive. And to seek the help, where and with whomever necessary, to get us there. After that, the rest is a piece of cake (well, maybe a piece of broccoli!)
