Supplementing my skin care regimen

My mother, grandmother and great grandmother had wonderful skin. As a matter of fact, Grandma Rosie looked great when she was 95. Luckily, I inherited the good skin gene from this sparkling trio of women. I also never wash my face with soap and spend little time baking under the sun.

Nevertheless, time marches on and I’m never going to look like the hot chick I was at 41 (I say that tongue in cheek.) My skin is laxer (especially around my neck) and drier, and has fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth and eyes.  My daily skincare regimen includes using the Clarisonic with an exfoliating cleanser, followed by applying some pretty costly moisturizer and eye cream that I like for their ability to absorb into my skin, without making it feel or look greasy.

Two months ago, I added a new anti-aging supplement, called Imedeen Time Perfection, to my daily skincare routine.  I finally recognize the importance of taking care of oneself from the inside out. I well know that skincare creams, lotions and serums work only to protect and care for the top layer of our skin, called the epidermis. These products simply cannot change what’s happening in the dermis—the layer beneath the surface–that contains the collagen, elastin and moisture-producing properties, or the skin’s building blocks. Although they may temporarily increase our skin’s moisture and firmness, they’ll never get it to bounce back to where it was when we were 30, 40 or even 50.

Manufacturing skincare products for over two decades, the makers of Imedeen® say its Time Perfection® “marine complex and antioxidant” supplement will work “inside the body” on women 40 and older, “to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin quality and moisture balance, and protect collagen and elastin fibers against oxidative damage in as little as 90 days.” A three-month supply of 180-tablets is $206.

Aside from plastic surgery (which I advocate wholeheartedly, as many of you know), maybe Imedeen® can do what these lotions and potions cannot. I was happy to say “yes” when the folks at the company asked if I’d try it, and compensate me, too.

Time Perfection® contains an exclusive blend of proteins and polysaccharides (a chemical term for carbohydrates, such as starch, insulin or cellulose) that is important for the skin’s structure and moisture and resembles the elements naturally found in the skin’s supporting tissue. One of these ingredients, called LycoPhence GS, provides tomato fruit and grape seed extracts, which help protect skin against oxidative damage. The other is Vitamin C, a vital antioxidant, which is essential in the formation of collagen. These targeted nutrients go “deep down” in the dermal layer to strengthen the skin’s invisible building blocks. Imedeen® offers a skin assessment on its site, to help you determine which of its anti-aging formulas work best.

’m two-thirds into the three-month regimen and I definitely notice that the fine lines around my mouth and eyes are less pronounced, as are those deeper lines on either side of my nose that run down to my mouth, called nasolabial folds. My skin also feels firmer when I pinch my cheeks. Friends, family and neighbors have been commenting that I “look good.”

The makers of Imedeen® are hosting a giveaway for one lucky FOF, who will receive a 90-day supply to help improve her skin.  Comment below on why you’d love to try it.  FOF will select the winner at random.

Nice post. We can’t stop the signs of aging as we get older but we may minimize those signs. Thanks for the post.

I am 49 and an Avon Rep. I get women to try our Anew line (skin care regimen designed for specific age groups) all the time; why? because it works. My loyal customers know I am honest with them. I will not tell them something works when it does not. When in my opinion Avon’s product does not meet my expectations, I will not only tell my clients, I will recommend the competitor that I believe is better (and use myself). I don’t “push” Avon products 100% of the time. I am keenly interested in the “inside out” theory since I deal with the outside in all the time. If this works, I will be happy to pass along this new find to everyone I know 🙂

Sorry, I agree with those who see no change except the lighting. It’s great if Geri feels a difference herself, but I don’t see it from these photos. That said, I do believe in supplements and taking care from the inside out, and would be curious to see if the difference is real, or only wishful thinking.

Thank you for the info, Geri. I don’t really see a difference in the photos after 2 months. Perhaps with continued use there’ll be more external evidence of change. But glad that you feel a difference in your skin. The supplements are quite expensive, so I think I’ll pass on this one. 😉

I appreciate your review and pics, however I really don’t see a difference between the two pics except that there is more light on your face on the first pic than the 2nd pic which makes all the wrinkles and such more evident.

I am 52 but people think I am about 10 years younger. When I look in the mirror, I see fine lines at my chin and cheeks out from my mouth. I try to take good care of myself and would love the opportunity to try these supplements. Aggressive “Preventative maintenance” is a good plan as far as I’m concerned.

Time marches on, and unfortunately, it marches across your face. I’m 45, and I, too, am blessed with the good skin gene. My grandmother was gorgeous when she passed at 88, and my mother is 76, and looks 55. But unfortunately, two years ago I was stricken with Bell’s Palsy. While I have recovered probably 90% of my face muscles, the skin didn’t seem to recover like I wanted it to. It sags. I take good care of my skin, avoid the sun, use good skincare products, but unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be enough anymore. I’d love to try these supplements, to see if I can make some kind of difference in my skin.

I believe in taking supplements and do daily! I also believe health-good health-works from the inside out. I would love to try these supplements for my skin!!! When I was young, no one ever told me to put sunscreen on, wear a hat or sunglasses when I was out playing tennis for hours everyday. I now have the wrinkles to prove it. I have a sister who is 5 years younger than I am, she doesn’t have a wrinkle on her face! No real outdoor sports for her growing up. We were together at Macy’s last year and a sales lady asked if I was her mother. I cried! It was so humiliating!
Please let me give this a try!
    Thank you for your consideration.

I really hate to say this but it has been on my mind since Geri starting her blog. Geri, you have got to start wearing makeup and get your hair styled more youthful. The supplements are great I am sure but it has to be a routine that is habit and try new cosmetics that suit your color and hair. But other than that you are on to a really “new” you!@

Like you I have pretty good genes but time is catching up with me. I do what I can with creams and lotions but have never approached my beauty regime “from the inside out” as suggested…Since I don’t take other supplements I’d be a great candidate to try this as the results would be specific and measurable. I have a FB site on healthy/nutrition and weight management and this would be a perfect product to recommend to my over 10,300 readers!

I absolutely believe in supplements and started long ago with my mother handing out Flintstone vitamins when I was a kid. I never stopped taking multivitamins as an adult and I take specialty supplements when appropriate. For example, when I travel, extra B and C to guard against cold and flu virus to add resistance. Multivitamins are good for skin, hair and nails, along with everything else for good general health and glow from within.

Claims to reduce wrinkles are exaggerated however. I am a huge skeptic of these product claims and don’t see otherwise with these photos. They may, however be excellent vitamins.

Good exfoliation, collagen, fat injections, Botox and Juvaderm – those help wrinkles. A facelift removes wrinkles. Not injested vitamins with today’s technology.
