Supplementing my skin care regimen

My mother, grandmother and great grandmother had wonderful skin. As a matter of fact, Grandma Rosie looked great when she was 95. Luckily, I inherited the good skin gene from this sparkling trio of women. I also never wash my face with soap and spend little time baking under the sun.

Nevertheless, time marches on and I’m never going to look like the hot chick I was at 41 (I say that tongue in cheek.) My skin is laxer (especially around my neck) and drier, and has fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth and eyes.  My daily skincare regimen includes using the Clarisonic with an exfoliating cleanser, followed by applying some pretty costly moisturizer and eye cream that I like for their ability to absorb into my skin, without making it feel or look greasy.

Two months ago, I added a new anti-aging supplement, called Imedeen Time Perfection, to my daily skincare routine.  I finally recognize the importance of taking care of oneself from the inside out. I well know that skincare creams, lotions and serums work only to protect and care for the top layer of our skin, called the epidermis. These products simply cannot change what’s happening in the dermis—the layer beneath the surface–that contains the collagen, elastin and moisture-producing properties, or the skin’s building blocks. Although they may temporarily increase our skin’s moisture and firmness, they’ll never get it to bounce back to where it was when we were 30, 40 or even 50.

Manufacturing skincare products for over two decades, the makers of Imedeen® say its Time Perfection® “marine complex and antioxidant” supplement will work “inside the body” on women 40 and older, “to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin quality and moisture balance, and protect collagen and elastin fibers against oxidative damage in as little as 90 days.” A three-month supply of 180-tablets is $206.

Aside from plastic surgery (which I advocate wholeheartedly, as many of you know), maybe Imedeen® can do what these lotions and potions cannot. I was happy to say “yes” when the folks at the company asked if I’d try it, and compensate me, too.

Time Perfection® contains an exclusive blend of proteins and polysaccharides (a chemical term for carbohydrates, such as starch, insulin or cellulose) that is important for the skin’s structure and moisture and resembles the elements naturally found in the skin’s supporting tissue. One of these ingredients, called LycoPhence GS, provides tomato fruit and grape seed extracts, which help protect skin against oxidative damage. The other is Vitamin C, a vital antioxidant, which is essential in the formation of collagen. These targeted nutrients go “deep down” in the dermal layer to strengthen the skin’s invisible building blocks. Imedeen® offers a skin assessment on its site, to help you determine which of its anti-aging formulas work best.

’m two-thirds into the three-month regimen and I definitely notice that the fine lines around my mouth and eyes are less pronounced, as are those deeper lines on either side of my nose that run down to my mouth, called nasolabial folds. My skin also feels firmer when I pinch my cheeks. Friends, family and neighbors have been commenting that I “look good.”

The makers of Imedeen® are hosting a giveaway for one lucky FOF, who will receive a 90-day supply to help improve her skin.  Comment below on why you’d love to try it.  FOF will select the winner at random.

Nice post. We can’t stop the signs of aging as we get older but we may minimize those signs. Thanks for the post.

  2. lisa says:

    i would love to try

  3. Candy Brust says:

I am 49 years old, I had alot of acne scars, I did have some Laser surgery done about 8 years ago, my skin is combination so till this day I still get breakouts, I also have lines around my eyes and some sagging, I would love to try this..
I have tried so many products in the past 10 years.
I am ready to try something else..
That will work and see a difference….

  4. Roxanne says:

I looked in the mirror one day and thought Oh My goodness, where did those lines come from!

Ok, I like what I am seeing: I want to try it out on my aging skin, too!! I will hit 57 in April and that number rounds up to SIXTY!!!! And I need to put a stop to that right away.

  6. Dawn says:

I am getting closer to my 50’s and wouldn’t mind a head start on a good treatment for my skin. Great site to learn about aging gracefully.

  7. Toni says:

I have tried Skin and nail vitamins because my sister had a lot of success with them. I haven’t seen a lot of difference but anything that slows the look of aging is worth trying to me!

  8. Terri Timmons says:

I’m willing to try anything that will keep me away from the needles and knives as long as possible!!

  9. Debbi says:

I am 49 and an Avon Rep. I get women to try our Anew line (skin care regimen designed for specific age groups) all the time; why? because it works. My loyal customers know I am honest with them. I will not tell them something works when it does not. When in my opinion Avon’s product does not meet my expectations, I will not only tell my clients, I will recommend the competitor that I believe is better (and use myself). I don’t “push” Avon products 100% of the time. I am keenly interested in the “inside out” theory since I deal with the outside in all the time. If this works, I will be happy to pass along this new find to everyone I know 🙂

  10. Vonnetta says:

Sorry, I agree with those who see no change except the lighting. It’s great if Geri feels a difference herself, but I don’t see it from these photos. That said, I do believe in supplements and taking care from the inside out, and would be curious to see if the difference is real, or only wishful thinking.

  11. ANDREA says:

  12. Ann Peters says:

Im sorry I dont see any change.

  13. Karen says:

I agree with Sandra. I don’t see a difference (other than lighting).

  14. Allison says:

Thank you for the info, Geri. I don’t really see a difference in the photos after 2 months. Perhaps with continued use there’ll be more external evidence of change. But glad that you feel a difference in your skin. The supplements are quite expensive, so I think I’ll pass on this one. 😉

  15. Sandra says:

I appreciate your review and pics, however I really don’t see a difference between the two pics except that there is more light on your face on the first pic than the 2nd pic which makes all the wrinkles and such more evident.

  16. Judy says:

I am 55, take good care of my skin from the outside, exercise regularly, and eat properly. Over the last several years I’ve noticed my skin has begun to show the signs of aging. I’ve investing in IPL and Fraxel and have facials regularly. I would love to try something that is specifically designed to help from the inside out!

  17. Susan M says:

I’m 56 & some people think I’m in my 30’s. I don’t have alot of wrinkles. My mother was youthful looking also & skin was amazing at age 93. I splash cold water on my skin usually in the mornings & have been doing this since my teens.

  18. Pamala Williams says:

I am 52 but people think I am about 10 years younger. When I look in the mirror, I see fine lines at my chin and cheeks out from my mouth. I try to take good care of myself and would love the opportunity to try these supplements. Aggressive “Preventative maintenance” is a good plan as far as I’m concerned.

  19. Becky says:

I can see Geri’s results….nothing life changing, but they are noticed. I feel little helpers make a very nice difference, until…. ? not sure if I do want the knife….I really just want to look good,{great} for my age. I’d love to see what it dose for ME.

  20. Ann R says:

Sign me up. I’ve had a very stressful winter due to my son’s illness and I think I’ve aged 5 years in 4 months…..this may be just the thing for me!

  21. Sonja says:

Have been doing research on what supplements to take to start helping my skin………..I feel perimenopause is taking a toll on my skin a bit and am trying to head it off at the pass! 🙂

  22. cher says:

No matter how much water I drink, eat “healthy Foods” and stay away from junk and processed foods I don’t seem to get my pre cancer and diabetes skin back (and hair). Always willing to try something if it will make a difference. lotions to date aren’t doing much either.

  23. jacque says:

I’m starting to look like my MOM!

  24. Annette king says:

Love to give it a try!

  25. Kelsi says:

This looks like a wonderful product! I believe in beauty from the inside out….I would love to try this!

  26. Donna Role says:

I would love to give this a try. I try everything and I am diligent about what I use. I need a pick me up from within. Please give me a chance to give this a try!!!

  27. KC says:

Time marches on, and unfortunately, it marches across your face. I’m 45, and I, too, am blessed with the good skin gene. My grandmother was gorgeous when she passed at 88, and my mother is 76, and looks 55. But unfortunately, two years ago I was stricken with Bell’s Palsy. While I have recovered probably 90% of my face muscles, the skin didn’t seem to recover like I wanted it to. It sags. I take good care of my skin, avoid the sun, use good skincare products, but unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be enough anymore. I’d love to try these supplements, to see if I can make some kind of difference in my skin.

  28. ML says:

I believe in taking supplements and do daily! I also believe health-good health-works from the inside out. I would love to try these supplements for my skin!!! When I was young, no one ever told me to put sunscreen on, wear a hat or sunglasses when I was out playing tennis for hours everyday. I now have the wrinkles to prove it. I have a sister who is 5 years younger than I am, she doesn’t have a wrinkle on her face! No real outdoor sports for her growing up. We were together at Macy’s last year and a sales lady asked if I was her mother. I cried! It was so humiliating!
Please let me give this a try!
    Thank you for your consideration.

  29. bobbye says:

I would love to try it!

  30. susan says:

I really hate to say this but it has been on my mind since Geri starting her blog. Geri, you have got to start wearing makeup and get your hair styled more youthful. The supplements are great I am sure but it has to be a routine that is habit and try new cosmetics that suit your color and hair. But other than that you are on to a really “new” you!@

    • Geri Brin says:

      Hi Susan,

I am laughing because the photos you see are me without makeup and my hair somewhat disheveled. I do wear makeup and style my hair. The photo of me at the top of the blog is with makeup.

  31. Terri Sinclair says:

Like you I have pretty good genes but time is catching up with me. I do what I can with creams and lotions but have never approached my beauty regime “from the inside out” as suggested…Since I don’t take other supplements I’d be a great candidate to try this as the results would be specific and measurable. I have a FB site on healthy/nutrition and weight management and this would be a perfect product to recommend to my over 10,300 readers!

  32. faye says:

I’d love to try Imedeen as I do need help with my almost-70 skin! Thanks for giving me a chance to win!

  33. Jackie Crigler says:

I wholeheartedly believe in helping with aging from the inside out and would love to try out the Imedeen supplement. I am constantly working on the outside, but have always felt like I was missing something when it comes to the opportunity to work on my appearance from within. I’ve never been sure what to invest in for this, but Imedeen sounds like the perfect solution to fill this need, and I hope I get to try it!

  34. AJB says:

I would like to see if I notice any changes using this product.

  35. Loesje Shema says:

This sounds interesting especially because it’s non-invasive.

  36. Mary Grace Gallagher says:

This would be a great Valentine’s Day gift!!!!

  37. Mick says:

I absolutely believe in supplements and started long ago with my mother handing out Flintstone vitamins when I was a kid. I never stopped taking multivitamins as an adult and I take specialty supplements when appropriate. For example, when I travel, extra B and C to guard against cold and flu virus to add resistance. Multivitamins are good for skin, hair and nails, along with everything else for good general health and glow from within.

Claims to reduce wrinkles are exaggerated however. I am a huge skeptic of these product claims and don’t see otherwise with these photos. They may, however be excellent vitamins.

Good exfoliation, collagen, fat injections, Botox and Juvaderm – those help wrinkles. A facelift removes wrinkles. Not injested vitamins with today’s technology.

  38. sueanna jones says:

i would love to try this even though tis expesive if i see results i would save for the purchase as i do not have that kind of money to spend monthly.i am trying new products on skin care and would save and use this if i see results ..pick me pick me lol… thank you.

  39. Tonya Hickerson says:

I’d love to give this a try! Can’t afford plastic surgery so perhaps this would give me some help

  40. Sandy says:

I’m all about the inside-out — especially as I get older, because there’s very little I can do about the outside skin, other than aggressive changes. If this does what it claims to do, then it’s worth every penny. I’ll give it a go!

  41. Donna says:

I truly believe health and beauty come from within. So, after doing all the right things for my complexion, I’d love to try to treat it from within. My maturing skin needs a little help.

  42. Barbara Ritthaler says:

I strongly believe in supplements, as I got huge satisfaction out of them: beauty starts from the inside, at any age. Yes, I’d love to try, it probably will be the product I need to complement my skin care regimen.

  43. smfsprout says:

I would love to try the Imedeen and see if it will at least slow down the clock on my aging skin. Thanks.

  44. Bobbi Bryant says:

Hi – In my mid 60’s and getting married this September to the love of my life. We are having our wedding and the ranch we own and I would like to look terrific for this very special moment in my life!!

  45. Donna Hart says:

I would LOVE to try this!!! :*

  46. Elyse says:

I’d love, love, love to try Imedeen! I think it makes sense that supplementing the inside can make a difference on the outside. Obviously, what we take in internally does have an effect on our biology.

  47. Monica Platz says:

I would love to give this a try! I have seen what it did for my friend Amy who has been using it for several months now! Amazing!

  48. Linda Hershon says:

I am the Mother of the Groom in 3 months and the expense of the wedding and flying to the destination does not permit plastic surgery at this time. I would love to have my eyes wide open for the pictures. My droopy eylids need a pick me up. Please help!!

  49. Lorna says:

I’ve always believed that “change comes from within”, for both physical and spiritual beauty. I’d love to try this product!

  50. Kaye says:

Wow! Let’s hope it can also help 73 year old skin.

  51. tfabglam5 says:

I would love to have the opportunity to take this skin-improving supplement! Geri’s results are super and how exciting to receive all the compliments on her skin. I think that Imedeen is really onto something and who wouldn’t want to invest in something that really, really works!

  52. Denise says:

I am always looking for ways to stave off the aging process. Would love to give this a try.

  53. SM says:

I just married a gorgeous man and will be waging a very private war on those wrinkles. Private because the effort musn’t show…

  54. AC says:

Yes please!! I’d love to try it.

  55. cindy says:

Pick me – I am going to be the grandmother of triplets……

  56. Arlene says:

If you notice an improvement in 2 months time, I think you may have a winner in the aging war. Sign me up in the army!

  57. Kathy Johnston says:

I would love to try Imedeen! My skin could use a pick me up. Thank you for the chance
