Take This And You’ll Sleep Like A Baby!

If you have trouble sleeping through the night,  for any reason--anxiety to hot flashes–I urge you to try a product I’ve been using for almost two years that has given me night after night of glorious uninterrupted sleep I could only dream of before. It even worked the few times I had a cup of coffee after dinner; it just took a little longer to get to sleep.

I learned about Sambrosa Sweet Dreams when the brand invited me to try it in the fall of 2015. Now, I order 5 bottles at a time because I NEVER want to be without it. Vann Duke, my trainer, loves Sambrosa, too, and he won’t dare put anything into his healthy body unless the ingredients get his stamp of approval!

MY NIGHTMARES BEFORE SAMBROSA

I’ve had sleep problems since my mid 30s, when I’d pop up in the wee hours of the morning and toss and turn, unable to get back to bed.

In an effort to deal with my wakefulness, I’ve tried all sorts of plans and potions, from getting up to work at 3 a.m., to the prescription drug Ambien, to over-the-counter liquid melatonin. Ambien knocked me out pretty quickly, but made my sleep fitful, filled my head with weird dreams (weirder than usual!) and left me feeling groggy in the morning. Melatonin takes hours to start working, so you’re out of luck if you don’t remember to take it until you’re ready to retire.

I finally went cold turkey a few years ago, to see if I could fall asleep easily, and remain asleep, without drugs or synthetic hormones. Besides, neither of those is recommended for long-term use. Although I did occasionally enjoy six or even eight hours of uninterrupted sleep, without the benefit of sleep aids, they were (sadly) the exception, rather than the rule.

So, when the folks at Sambrosa Care asked if I’d try their nighttime syrup, Sambrosa Sweet Dreams, I was game. “Many of our European customers who are experiencing menopause benefit from the syrup,” said a company spokesman.

Created in 2007 by a Dutch homoeopathist with a pharmaceutical background, to help her customers get a good night’s sleep, the syrup includes a combination of:

Natural Honey: Honey is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and contains antioxidants; it also helps you get to sleep

Thyme: Can be soothing to the nerves and have a sedative action

California poppy: Excellent for the nervous system, and reportedly a calming remedy for stress

Hops: Believed to help relieve anxiety and insomnia

Aniseed oil: Has relaxing and tranquilizing effects

Passion flower: Used as a sedative and pain reliever by the ancient Aztecs, it’s now used for anxiety, insomnia and restlessness.

Sambrosa also is free of GMOs (genetically modified organisms). The antihistamine Doxylamine is another key ingredient, reported to be the most effective over-the-counter sedative on the market. It’s important to know, however, that the modest amount of Doxylamine in the syrup (9.75 mg, compared to some over-the-counter tablets that have 25 mg) makes it extremely effective, yet does not have any adverse affect on your body.

Sambrosa never gives me the groggy morning feeling I had after taking Ambien. The syrup has a pleasant taste and can easily be swallowed without water.

Sambrosa is available on amazon.com and many reviewers on the site agree with me. “This is amazing stuff. Sweet Dreams allows me to get to sleep quickly and to sleep soundly. I used to get it from a Canadian friend. Thank you for bringing it to the American market,” wrote Roberta Kipper.

NOTE TO MY FOFriends: Even though the Amazon headline on Sambrosa says “Nighttime Allergy Relief & Cough Medicine,” it’s totally safe and effective when taken solely as a sleep aid, as I do!

Thanks for the heads up! My only worry is the antihistamine as I have an allergy (yup, I’m allergic to allergy meds! Also cold, flu meds, seems traceable to a damn – common – gene ugh…) hoping this small amount won’t set me off – worth a shot since I’m up nearly 24 hours as of this time of writing… insomniac since a child, worse with MEAN-o-pause! Cheers! Jet

I took Sambrosa for the first time last night and I had the best night’s sleep I’ve had in a very long time. I woke up refreshed and ready for the day ahead. Thanks Geri xo
