“I left my husband 17 years ago when I was 43 because he was an alcoholic and in complete denial about it.

That is the only reason I left him. I still loved him, but I wasn’t going to watch him fall apart and ruin his and my life. He died one year ago at 63 years of age and it was a horrible death. The last month of his life he spent in a hospital. I was by his side. He needed a heart valve replacement, but his liver was in such bad shape they couldn’t do the surgery because it would have killed him. They tried to fix his heart valve with a less invasive surgery, but 2 weeks later he went into major organ failure. I had to give a do not resuscitate order. He was still in denial about his alcoholism. His last words to me were ‘I’m sorry.’ And after I told him he didn’t have to apologize to anyone and that I loved him, he said ‘I love you too.’

I miss him every day, but I’m doing fine. I just retired at 60 and my plan is to enjoy every moment of my retirement. I never married again and don’t plan to in the future.”

    I have been divorced for over 37 years and never ever married again. Have been engaged twice since then, but knew that marriage is not for me. I enjoy me and my kids and grandbaby. I go on dates but I don’t date. Life is good….
