ANONYMOUS SAID:

Are there situations where insurance will cover or partially cover eyelid reduction. If so what are the parameters that must be met and does the process start with a visit to the optometrist?

Insurance, even Medicare will cover upper eyelid bleph as well as browlift if your visual field tests are abnormal. They usually will not cover the lower eyelid surgery.

Most of the time insurance does not cover this. If your optalmologist says you have true Ptosis with a decrease of your vision, then perhaps insurance will cover. Today insurances cover less and less so you should ask your insurance company if it will cover. As this is usually a cosmetic operation, it is self pay.
