I would like to have a tummy tuck, but after a radical hysterectomy and a kidney removal, I have no abdominal muscles and worry that my kangaroo pouch will return. Is there any way to prevent this after the tummy tuck. I really don’t want to waste my money if I’m back in the same condition a few years down the road.

Without an examination no answer can be given. I few things to think about are that no procedure will return muscle tone, we has only repair, reinforce or return muscles separated by pregnancy to a more normal position. Working out after surgery can enhance the results of a tummy tuck. If you have been left with muscles that do not function at all, the risk for bulges returning would be higher that if one’s muscle still contracted. In addition, a tummy tuck is not a weight control procedure, therefore combining surgery with diet and exercise gives the best and lasted lasting results. Only a consultation with a physician could answer that question and therefore help you to decide.
