Any Board Certified Plastic Surgeon knows where the tear ducts are located and how to avoid any damage. In my 24 years of practice, I have
not encountered a problem. I believe that as long as you find a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who you are comfortable with and answers all your questions and concerns, you will achieve the result you are looking for.
Tear duct damage would be extremely remote. I have never seen or heard of it with eyelid surgery; however, I am sure it has been described. Choosing a board certified plastic surgeon with experience in eyelid surgery should be the best way in my opinion to minimize this risk.
