I am 56. I had an upper eye lift surgery 7 years ago. At that time, I was very concerned that the surgery would change my eyes, I asked the surgeon to remove as little skin as possible. Now after 7 years, I feel that I may need a second surgery. My specific questions are: Can a person have a second blepharoplasty? Or instead of a second blepharoplasty, would it be better to have a mid face lift if the person needs it? Would recommend both?

A second blepharoplasty after a conservative skin excision is not uncommon and very safe to repeat. As to having a mid-facelift versus more eyelid skin, they do different things so you will need to decide which bothers you more if you only want one procedure.

Hi… let’s get started on your questions about upper eyelid surgery. First, can someone have a second upper eyelid surgery… in general, yes. Of course that answer depends on the current status of your eyelids and that can really only be determined by a consult with a plastic surgeon. At that same time any alternatives to a “second” upper eyelid surgery can be reviewed including mid-face lifts, brow lifts etc. What will work best for you will be a discussion between you and that plastic surgeon. Hope this helps.

Repeat lids procedures can certainly be done, assuming you have the excesses present. As for whether a facelift would be better, you should schedule a consultation with a local board certified plastic surgeon and find out just what options are available for you.
