{Fashion} The “miracle dress”–which FOF celeb wore it best?

—————————————————————————————————

It makes you appear thinner, gives you an hourglass figure, the results are instant and you don’t have to diet or workout!

It’s not magic…it’s a miracle…miracle dress, that is. The trend which debuted last fall when Stella McCartney released her “Octavia” miracle dress stirring a flurry of fashion coverage, has reached critical mass this season. This fall, designers have released their own “miracle” dresses with strategic colorblocking to give the illusion of a tiny waist and voluptuous curves.

We found 3 FOF celebs sporting “miracle” dresses. We want you to tell us: who wore it best? Vote at the bottom of this post.

Then, enter to win a “miracle” dress of your own, the Bianca Belted Colorblock Dress by Suzi Chin for Maggy Boutique by answering in the comments below, what’s the most flattering item of clothing you own? (For an extra chance to win, “like” Suzi Chin for Maggy Boutique on Facebook)

—————————————————————————————————

Jane Fonda

Fonda her frock? At the age of 74, the FOFormer actress and fitness guru donned a two-toned “miracle” dress by Stella McCartney for the Cannes Film Festival, this past May.

—————————————————————————————————

Kris Jenner

Hot mamma? Kardashian “Momager,” Kris Jenner sports a cerulean-hued illusion dress on the E! red carpet in April.

—————————————————————————————————

Edie Falco

“Nurse Jackie” Edie Falco is pictured here at last month’s Emmy awards dressed in a (you guessed it) Stella McCartney navy “Saskia” gown with strategic white color blocking.

—————————————————————————————————

Carol Vorderman

Fit for a Brit? FOF British game show co-host, Carol Vorderman was spotted sporting a “miracle dress” at the Inspire Woman 2010 awards in London’s Claridge’s Hotel.

—————————————————————————————————

Susan Sarandon

Did she hit the spot with this one? FOF actress Susan Sarandon hit the red carpet last fall in Stella McCartney’s Lucia Polka Dot sheer illusion dress.

—————————————————————————————————

Lisa Rinna

Soap star Lisa Rinna is looking clean-cut at a charity event this summer wearing a black-and-white Stella McCartney “miracle” dress.

My most flattering item is a black turtle neck sweater that fits and drapes wonderfully combined with my black skinny pants. This outfit makes me both feel and look good. I don’t feel any of my clothes are flattering. I wonder if this style of dress would look good on me. No store where I live sells any of these types of illusion/color block dresses, so I haven’t tried one on. I would like to see a “miracle” dress made for apple shapes.

This one also looks too short (all of my skirts and dresses reach ankles). I don’t know if it is because the woman modelling it is tall, but I would prefer a length similar to the ones that Kris Jenner, Susan Sarandon and Lisa Rinna are wearing.

The most flattering piece I own is a black & off-white stripe cap sleeve CK dress. It is belted above the waist with a lovely semi-patent slim belt with silver buckle. The hemline hits my leg perfectly right above my knee. It is a delicious knit so comfortable for summer. I wear it with red leather rounded toe pumps. The only drawback is waiting ’till my tan is adequate before wearing this (or any) dress in public bare-legged. I honestly think all women should be able to own a miracle dress. It would have to be a McQueen dress I bought years ago that looks fab regardless of hormonal weight fluctuations. It can be über dressy or dressed down for a casual look. I always get compliments on how I look, not “what a fab dress” which to me is the mark of a really flattering outfit. In spite of the price, since I’ve had it about 3 or 4 years, and worn it so many times I couldn’t count, its price per wear is next to nothing now. It was an investment I’d do over if I was as flush as those days! I remember making a skirt similar to the “miracle dress” back in the 80s, it was so flattering on everyone who wore it, so I know a dress would be fantastic! XXX Jet

A pant suit in a year-round-weight fabric blend, taupey-brown in color with slight texture in the weave…goes with everything…pants & jacket traditional fit, can be dressed up or down with accessories. The jacket is nipped in a bit at the waist which flatters the waistline and helps my short stature (5’2″) not appear so boxy. Jacket is great with jeans, too. I love the suit and now it is wearing out from too much wear.

I wear it with black leggings and black ballet flats as it is a tad bit short for this 50 something. It is very unique and fun and fashionable. Whenever I wear it, I get compliments. The best part is I saw it hanging on the rack at Goodwill and said I have got to have that and knew how I wanted to style it and the look I wanted to achieve. It was $5.00! No kidding. Using the “hip belts” keeps the dresses from looking frumpy and boxy, and also gives me the illusion of having a longer waist-line.
