{Giveaway} $360 worth of anti-aging products

FOF beauty guru Marta Wohrle, of TruthInAging, is giving away her 3 fave products for FOFs. To enter, answer this question in the comments below: What brand of moisturizer do you use?

Thank you for entering. This contest is now closed.

FOF Marta Wohrle, a former journalist and publishing exec, launched TruthInAging three years ago as a source for unbiased product reviews on the plethora of beauty products flooding the “anti-aging” market. “I realized that many indie beauty brands–that didn’t have big ad budgets–weren’t getting the media attention they deserved,” she explains.

“For years, we were told nothing works for anti-aging but sunscreen or thousand-dollar injections,” says Marta. “But, over the past few years, smaller companies have been producing products with new ingredients that are actually very effective.”

Since then, Marta has tested hundreds of independent beauty products, stocking her e-store with only the ones she deems effective after at least three weeks of testing. Here she shares her five faves (and gives away 3!):

Your Best Face Correct Eye Cream (Win!) – “I started using this about two years ago and haven’t stopped since,” says Marta. “It’s the product I always go back to. It’s pricey — $150– but it really does repair fine lines. I use it daily.”

Reluma Anti-Aging Serum (Win!) – “All the products in the Reluma line are very good, but if I had to choose one, it would be the anti-aging serum,” says Marta. “It’s very effective for wrinkles and smoothing out the skin. Everything in the line is based on cutting-edge stem-cell technology. This serum has human growth factors that help skin repair itself. I use it daily.”

La Vie Celeste Extra Rich Face Cream (Win!)– “La Vie Celeste is a natural skin care line with lots of organic ingredients,” says Marta. “Their extra rich cream is great for very dry skin and has a good anti-aging peptide called chronoline. My skin isn’t terribly dry so I use it 2-3 times a week, at night.

Nutra-Lift Simply Superb Shampoo with Goat Milk – “I’m still looking for the holy grail of hair product, but I like this goat milk shampoo,” says Marta. “It’s not expensive, has all natural ingredients and makes aging hair look more youthful if it’s losing the shine.”

Sirius Aurora LED Light Therapy System – “I’ve found this at-home light therapy system is really great for plumping up the skin and building collagen,” says Marta. “It has blue light for acne, green for age spots or hyper-pigmentation and red for wrinkles. It’s our bestseller, and it’s really effective.  But you have to be diligent and use it three times a week.”

Enter to win Marta’s 3 fave products for FOFs. 1 FOF will win. To enter, answer this question in the comments below: What brand of moisturizer do you use?

(See all our past winners. See official rules. One winner is chosen at random from all those commenters who answer the question. Contest closes August 4, 2011.)

Once one that truely works, will become people’s number one best product and everyone will say it work. Until then, it seems like a waste of money. Sure hope this one works and becomes famous.

I use regular collagen body lotion from St. Ives. Recently my daughter has been educating me on the importance of looking at the actives in products to find something that can really work. She apparently has been learning some what from a Truth in aging site. I was skeptical that a cream at all could actually reverse wrinkles or make much of a difference without cosmetic surgery. So, right now I’m looking into some things to replace my moisturizer. I’m in my mid-50’s so I’m willing to give anything a try right now.

    I use two moisturizers:
La Vie Celeste Day and Night Face Cream and RECLAIM with Argireline Anti-Aging Day Cream SPF 15. I started using RECLAIM products when I was about 35 (now 49) but I’ve always mixed and matched. Last year I noticed I needed to add a moisturizer during the day and my spots were more pronounced.

So I switched from Reclaim Lotion to the cream (more moisturizing) and added La Vie Celeste Day and Night Face Cream for spots and moisture. I’ve used this combo for about six months and I’m happy with the results.

However, I think the La Vie Celeste Extra Moisturizing Face Cream would probably get the job done cheaper with a light-weight SPF.

    Congrats Marta on FOF!

I am not “married” to any moisturizer at this time. I have very oily, aging skin and will only use products that have no toxic chemicals. If a moisturizer is at all greasy, it is too much for my skin. If I don’t put anything on, my skin feels very dry. Strange! Help, I am looking for the ideal moisturizer!

I use two moisturizers: La Vie Celeste Day and Night Cream and RECLAIM with Argireline Anti-Aging Day Cream SPF 15. I started using RECLAIM products when I was about 35, and my skin has held up pretty well. I’m now 49 and five-OH and the mirror told me I needed an extra boost.

Thanks to TIA, I was able to make an educated choice. I’m super happy with La Vie Celeste Day and Night Cream. I’ve seen great benefits over six months or so, most noticeably my dark spots have faded to almost nothing, and my skin is clearer and firmer. However, I still needed some moisture and reordered the RECLAIM.

But I hope to replace both with the new La Vie Celeste Extra Moisturizing Day Cream and light SPF. I hope luck is with me and brings La Vie Celeste Extra Moisturizing Day Cream to my door via TIA!

Go Marta! Congrats on Fab Over Fifty! I thank you, your team, and your readers for helping everyone with a notion keep healthy, good-looking skin!

I’ll come clean at the beginning. I’m an esthethician and have owned my own business for the last 16 years. After coming across Marta and her incredible research into products I was hooked. I’ve been using and selling Osmosis for the last 3-4 years, they have a stem cell product. So given that I’m able to purchase my products wholesale, something has to make me go out on a limb to try anything at retail. The qualifications for “clean” efficacious products has to be there. So first, I tried Algenist moisturizer, I use that am. Yes I do love it. Algae based products have been around for some time and so the protective qualities are known, but with this the regenerative ability is there as well. I was coming to the end of my jar and read the review on La Vie Celeste Extra Rich moisturizer. Another win! I live in a dry climate and this is heaven. I will use it in the winter both day and night. The third win was the kicker, as if the first two wasn’t fun enough, Reluma Eye serum. I know it’s not part of the question but I can’t help my self. I have not , in 16 years had an eye product give me the results I’m looking for. So that leads me to the question just what can the serum do?
Being informed about products is part of the fun for me in this industry, as so much research has been done, and has created products that deserve women’s attention. Thank you Marta for being a terrific educator in this industry!

But, a moisturizer is a different beast altogether, and I have yet to find one that I like enough to stick with or make a repeat purchase. I don’t shop department store, or drug store brands; too many fillers, yucky after application feel, and sometimes ridiculously pricey. Plus my moisturizer would need to pull double duty, both day and night use. I have considered purchasing the La Vie Celeste Extra Rich Face Cream, but just haven’t committed to that course yet. Seems that I am always disappointed. Then again, I have Martha on my side and if she recommends it, then it is probably a great moisturizer.

I am prone to hop around quite a bit but currently use Aveda’s mineral tinted moisturizer. Like others, I am a sucker for a good claim, a nice scent and a great new ingredient!

I use Genefique under my moisturizer, then Lancome’s Genefique Repair (night) as a daytime moisturizer.
From time to time I experiment with other products, but always come back to Lancome.

Most of the time for moisturizer, I either use an essential oil blend with a carrier oil or just plain coconut oil. It doesn’t leave the face greasy and has amazing anti aging and regenerative benefits!

I am a sucker for advertisements. I fall for the “promises” every time so off I go to the store to buy the newest “miracle in a bottle”. However, I have been using the Boots No. 7 line of moisturizers and serums and I think (or hope) I see some improvement in my skin. Only time will tell and while I’m waiting, a new wrinkle or line is bound to show up! The joys of getting old-er!!
