FOF Brenda Cline is giving away this gorgeous copper and turquoise collar. Enter to win by answering in the comments below: What’s the best beach you’ve been to?
Brenda Cline, an FOF from Satellite Beach, Florida, comes from a family of avid surfers–her husband, daughter, son and grandson all love riding the waves. Brenda too, enjoyed surfing until she had a run in with a shark in 1982.
“I couldn’t handle it, I was hyperventilating,” she says. Brenda stopped surfing, but continued accompanying her family members on their surf trips. Looking for something to occupy herself while they hit the waves, Brenda started combing the beach for sea glass and stones. When she returned home, she’d experiment, turning her findings into jewelry.
Brenda started with silver and sea glass, but then, a friend gave her a piece of recycled copper. “That began my love for copper,” says Brenda whose bestsellers are her signature copper collars. “Recently I reflected, asking myself, ‘why do I love working with metals so much?’ My dad was an ironworker. I think that’s a big part of it.”
More recently, Brenda has begun experimenting with aluminum. She crafts each piece from her Satellite Beach studio and sells at art shows and on Etsy. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind creation using recycled and repurposed metals from hardware stores and natural elements from her family surf trips. On her last trip to Nicaragua, she filled her suitcase with over 16 pounds of stones, for her new “Surf Safari” line. “I sacrificed packing my clothes to bring back stones,” says Brenda. “I have so much passion. Everything I look at, I think: ‘how can I make art out of it?’”
You can see more of Brenda’s pieces in her Etsy shop, Metal Souls.

I’ve only ever been to the beach one time. The first time I saw the ocean was when we went on a family vacation to California in 1976. My father drove us (mom & four other brothers & sisters) in his extended cab pickup with a camper on top. It was quite a long and hot hike from Wyoming. It was an adventure and swimming in the ocean was the most epic experience of my life at age 14. I hope some day to go back to Laguna Beach with my husband. I lost my father four years ago; reading your comments brought back some long forgotten and very pleasant memories. Thank you!

The beaches of Ocracoke Island, North Carolina. I first went there with a bunch of friends from here in Pennsylvania when I was almost 22. The fellow whose family had a summer home there told us that there was a nude beach on Ocracoke and we all enjoyed the freedom. Years later, I found out that, in fact, there are no nude beaches on Ocracoke…

I live on the beach in Willoughby, Norfolk Va. However my favorite beaches are where my sister lives in Atlantic Beach NC, SOBX, we boat out to the islands to shell and swim, it is just like going to the Bahamas The water is so clear, the shells are easy to find and if you go up the coastal waterway in Beaufort you will see families of Dolphins with their babies. When you get in the water near them, you can hear the whistles and clicks. it is AWESOME and we do this all summer long. i bring the shells back to my condo on the bay and put them in my front yard. Nothing could be finer than the beaches in Carolinia.

This beautiful necklace comes together like the beach and ocean a beautiful combination. I think any beach can be beautiful it is the sound we hear with our heart that brings
peace to the soul.
I would vote for any beach because I see it thru the eyes of beauty that it brings. This copper collar necklace would be a reminder of a beautiful creation.

Terri Haydon says:
I love the beach(s). I have lived in South Mission Beach in San Diego, CA, frequented the Northern CA coastline, and visited several beaches on trips. I too had a scary encounter one summer when diving under the water in the bay of So. Mission Beach. I opened my eyes under water to see two very large, wide-apart eyes looking back at me. I was certain it was a shark and turned around swimming to shore for my life. I came out of the water with my legs and life. The Coast Guards caught my “shark” and it turned out to be a very large stingray that got into the bay by mistake. I still love the ocean, bay and any other water source although I am much more cautious. My favorite beach so far has to be in Maui. The waters are so clear and the underwater world is so vibrant and lush there.
Lisa Mc says:

Though I’ve been to beaches all over the world, I always return to Daytona… maybe because when I was born (in July) my mother took me home from the hospital, then directly to Daytona–back when there were lots of small houses/apartments. I remember going with an uncle to watch an artist paint on velvet followed by fireworks on July 4th as well as wandering through the lovely park around the boardwalk and bandshell prior to the changes in that area. After high school graduation my mother chaperoned a group of 16 girls in one of those great old beach houses that have since disappeared. Despite unlovely changes, the beach is still wonderfully deep white sand with the sea stretching to color-filled sunrises and sunsets.

I live in Hawaii so it’s hard to pick the most beautiful beach. I’d have to say it’s Keawekapu Beach on Maui’s south shore. When I was a kid, we spent the summers there–wide, like a lake in the morning, waves to catch in the afternoon. Plus a view of 3 other islands–Molokini, Kahoolawe, and Lanai. Sometimes the ocean can make one feel lonely as it’s so vast, but not at Keawekapu–always the 3 islands to keep you comany.
Barbara M. says:
I don’t remember names since it’s been many years ago, but it’s a toss-up between an Hawaiian beach off of the Big Island (it was kind of private) and another beach at Cancun.

I love Rum Point in Grand Cayman. You could walk about a half mile into calm water without it covering your head. Occassionally, a stingray will brush against you and continue along. The water is clear enough to see the beautiful fish. There are hammocks between the trees without hotel managers rushing up to say only guests can use them. The drinks are cool; the people are warm. What a wonderful experiende. Does this sound like I want to go back? Yes, especially if I’m wearing that sexy collar!

For my 13th Birthday my parents stuffed all my friends and my birthday cake into the back of “Ol’ Nelly”, our very well used Volvo station wagon. My Dad drove us to a beach on the Adriatic side of the Penninsula. It wasn’t so much the beach, but the best memories a girl could have, all my friends, wading in the sea, watching all the topless women and barely clad men go by. While I’ll never know the name of the beach we went to, it was truly the best beach ever, because of my friends and family and the memories we made that day, so long ago!
Cheryl says:
The last time I went to the beach that I enjoyed was at Crescent Beach Calif I was living in Oregon at the time (which does NOT have pretty beaches). I love this necklace and copper is something I rarely wear….

I am drawn to water so every body of water is pure heaven to me and special in it’s own way. However, I must say the beaches on the Gulf of Mexico can’t be beat. The panhandle of Florida or ever further south on the coast of Florida. If you haven’t been definitely put it on your bucket list.
Deborah says:
I have not traveled alot so I am limited on my opinion. I’ll have to say I loved Orange Beach in Alabama.
Susan F. says:
A woman never can have enough jewelry and shoes and I love wearing jewelry that is one of kind and that you don’t see on everyone else. A copper piece would be fantastic and go great with my hair and eyes. I can see it around my neck already. : )
Merry says:
As a lover of beaches, they are all appealing in different ways, but after living on Isle of Palms, SC for a number of years, it is probably at the top of my list. So many wonderful memories of beach walks at all hours and collecting enough sand dollars to decorate a large Christmas tree – lovely!

The beaches all have their special attributes. I go East for white sand and cold water. I head South for warm water and sun-bathing. I head West for sun and surf. I head North for fresh water splashing. All depends on my mood.

My first experience with the Ocean was way back when I was introduced to a beach called Mismaloya just outside of Puerta Vallarta, Mexico! It was absolutely the most beautiful site I had ever seen, coming from Calgary with no ocean close by!

Being from Louisiana, I had only gone to the Florida panhandle beaches and loved them because I am definitely a beach person. Then when I met my (now) husband who is from Sarasota and he took me to Siesta Beach, I was in heaven. That is my favorite beach anywhere and now our daughter is getting married on Siesta Beach next month. I would absolutely adore this necklace to wear while we are there–it is such a unique piece and I am all about being a stand-out!

I also am not a world traveler but spent many hours on Texas beaches. I have also enjoyed the beaches in Florida. Destin beach or Panama City Beach are great … White sands and clear blue water for as long as the eye can see.
Cynthia Finch says:
I LOVE Cape May! The Victorian houses, all painted up in beautiful colors, the laid back feel — very small arcade and honky tonk area, the beach you can walk on — firm, fairly level, the good restaurants, and some but not too much in the way of shopping — which is not why I go to the beach — perfect!
AnnaLeaf says:
I am not a beach person but the best one I have ever been to is a small beach on Lake Lincoln in Cuivre River State Park in Missouri. I have the best memories of times there.

Betty Herbert says:
I’m not much of a beach person. I’m not comfortable with all the commercialism at most tourist beaches. If I’m going on a beach vacation I always head to Bald Head Island, NC. 3 miles out into the Atlantic, private, no boardwalk, no carnival atmosphere. Just time to relax with the family and read a good book.
CJ says:
I love each and every beach that I’ve visited, even the rocky ones! My favorite beach would have to be the one where we honeymooned – and that’s why it would be my favorite – South Daytona Beach.

I’m not a world traveler nor have I traveled extensively in the US. So the best beach I’ve visited would have to be the Outer Banks Islands and beaches of North Carolina. Followed closely with any beach along Lake Michigan on the Michigan side of the lake.
