{Giveaway} A copper and turquoise collar

—————————————————————————————————

FOF Brenda Cline is giving away this gorgeous copper and turquoise collar. Enter to win by answering in the comments below: What’s the best beach you’ve been to?

Brenda Cline, an FOF from Satellite Beach, Florida, comes from a family of avid surfers–her husband, daughter, son and grandson all love riding the waves. Brenda too, enjoyed surfing until she had a run in with a shark in 1982.

“I couldn’t handle it, I was hyperventilating,” she says. Brenda stopped surfing, but continued accompanying her family members on their surf trips. Looking for something to occupy herself while they hit the waves, Brenda started combing the beach for sea glass and stones. When she returned home, she’d experiment, turning her findings into jewelry.

Brenda started with silver and sea glass, but then, a friend gave her a piece of recycled copper. “That began my love for copper,” says Brenda whose bestsellers are her signature copper collars. “Recently I reflected, asking myself, ‘why do I love working with metals so much?’ My dad was an ironworker. I think that’s a big part of it.”

More recently, Brenda has begun experimenting with aluminum. She crafts each piece from her Satellite Beach studio and sells at art shows and on Etsy. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind creation using recycled and repurposed metals from hardware stores and natural elements from her family surf trips. On her last trip to Nicaragua, she filled her suitcase with over 16 pounds of stones, for her new “Surf Safari” line. “I sacrificed packing my clothes to bring back stones,” says Brenda. “I have so much passion. Everything I look at, I think: ‘how can I make art out of it?’”

You can see more of Brenda’s pieces in her Etsy shop, Metal Souls.

Enter to win a gorgeous copper collar designed by FOF artist Brenda Cline by answering in the comments below: What’s the best beach you’ve been to?

  • Your favorite songs producer AJ Tai showed off any kind of sample pair pertaining to the 2013 60’s in the “Royal Blue” colorway by means of Twitter earlier today, and the eagerness is stemming coming from the “Nike Air” logo that could be found on all the tongue of the shoe and one particular clean look at the heel.

  • For anyone already a partner of these fantastic shoes you can assertain that Jordan all the time puts his classic somewhere on the company. In this shoe it is on the cap of that this toe. Our jumpman logo isn’t as prominent as it used to be and perhaps this can to show Jordan’s retirement.

Sanibel Island, Florida is my all time favorite beach. My husband and I have traveled all over the world but are most relaxed on Sanibel Island. We call pull our chairs to the water’s edge, take long walks, marvel at the stunning sunsets and hunt for shells. Think I need to plan a trip!

When I think of beaches I think of heat and I do not like hot weather. So I haven’t been to many beaches. I think though that the white sandy beach of Luquillo in Puerto Rico is pretty nice. But I do like this unique collar. I hope I win it!

    • Soledad

Oops! I was having a problem with my computer and didn’t think my first message went through. Oh well. 🙂

  • Connie Kassahn

I’ve only ever been to the beach one time. The first time I saw the ocean was when we went on a family vacation to California in 1976. My father drove us (mom & four other brothers & sisters) in his extended cab pickup with a camper on top. It was quite a long and hot hike from Wyoming. It was an adventure and swimming in the ocean was the most epic experience of my life at age 14. I hope some day to go back to Laguna Beach with my husband. I lost my father four years ago; reading your comments brought back some long forgotten and very pleasant memories. Thank you!

  • Pamela

My favorite beach – Siesta Key, FLorida!!

  • Helen

Off Culebra, Puerto Rico – had a water taxi drop us off with a cooler filled with liquids and lunch. Went snorkeling surrounded by wild ponies. All was fine until late in the afternoon when some boats moored nearby but by then, the water taxi returned to take us back to our hotel. A very serene, peaceful spot to ourselves!

  • Val Galbraith

The best beach that I have been to is a secluded beach on Mable Lake near Lumby BC. Walk for a mile or so, enjoy nature, great fishing and boating, very quiet and peacful! Nature at it’s best! Love to camp there with my girls on the sand.

The beaches of Ocracoke Island, North Carolina. I first went there with a bunch of friends from here in Pennsylvania when I was almost 22. The fellow whose family had a summer home there told us that there was a nude beach on Ocracoke and we all enjoyed the freedom. Years later, I found out that, in fact, there are no nude beaches on Ocracoke…

  • Barbara Eilbeck

Love the beach at Crystal Cove near Laguna , California. The first time I stepped my foot on the beach I found the most beautiful perfectly heart shaped rock, that I have always kept. It is my reminder of such a breathtakingly beautiful spot.

  • kathyire50

I live on the beach in Willoughby, Norfolk Va. However my favorite beaches are where my sister lives in Atlantic Beach NC, SOBX, we boat out to the islands to shell and swim, it is just like going to the Bahamas The water is so clear, the shells are easy to find and if you go up the coastal waterway in Beaufort you will see families of Dolphins with their babies. When you get in the water near them, you can hear the whistles and clicks. it is AWESOME and we do this all summer long. i bring the shells back to my condo on the bay and put them in my front yard. Nothing could be finer than the beaches in Carolinia.

  • Murphy

One of my favorites is Torrey Pines State Beach in San Diego, Ca. I raised my six kids there, the waves are usually rideable, terrific view of the surrounding rocky hills. Also the train passes by which makes it feel like we are constantly on vacation. Del Mar city is just down the street, you can get a bite to eat and continue to stroll and surf, swim, and boogieboard at the 17th st. beach. lifeguards at both locations. Simply relaxing!

Beaches and the ocean come together to bring a beautiful tranquil serenity. The only voice is the sound of the ocean.
This beautiful necklace comes together like the beach and ocean a beautiful combination. I think any beach can be beautiful it is the sound we hear with our heart that brings
    peace to the soul.

I would vote for any beach because I see it thru the eyes of beauty that it brings. This copper collar necklace would be a reminder of a beautiful creation.

  • Michelle

We used to live in Miami, Fl, so we went to Crandon Beach when we were younger. However, my husband and I used to frequent Hollywood Beach at least twice a month. We spent the weekend and walked the Boardwalk at least twice a day. There were vendors selling everything you can imagine. They also held concerts there. Was truly amazing and very relaxing. We never had to drive anywhere.

The best beach I’ve been to is the one at Floridana Beach in the Brevard County south beaches. It’s clean and quiet and perfect for families.

I can’t wear necklaces. There is something wrong with the nerves in the spinal area and any pressure makes me literally sick. This looks as if it would not touch that area and I might finally be able to enjoy a stylish look like my friends do. What do you think? Many years ago we lived at Cocoa Beach, FL during the space center’s high point. I still love that beach…………it has fond memories for me.

I love the beach(s). I have lived in South Mission Beach in San Diego, CA, frequented the Northern CA coastline, and visited several beaches on trips. I too had a scary encounter one summer when diving under the water in the bay of So. Mission Beach. I opened my eyes under water to see two very large, wide-apart eyes looking back at me. I was certain it was a shark and turned around swimming to shore for my life. I came out of the water with my legs and life. The Coast Guards caught my “shark” and it turned out to be a very large stingray that got into the bay by mistake. I still love the ocean, bay and any other water source although I am much more cautious. My favorite beach so far has to be in Maui. The waters are so clear and the underwater world is so vibrant and lush there.

  • Lisa Mc

Any beach I can get to where I can bury my toes in the sand and drift away.

I have fond memories of a beautiful and pristine beach at San Miguel in the Philippine Islands as a young girl. And now I am happy to live near Honeymoon Island in Florida. The ocean is always inspirational to me, too, and I’ve never met a sea shell I ddn’t love….

The Colorado River in Laughlin, Nevada.

  • Tina-Joy

Though I’ve been to beaches all over the world, I always return to Daytona… maybe because when I was born (in July) my mother took me home from the hospital, then directly to Daytona–back when there were lots of small houses/apartments. I remember going with an uncle to watch an artist paint on velvet followed by fireworks on July 4th as well as wandering through the lovely park around the boardwalk and bandshell prior to the changes in that area. After high school graduation my mother chaperoned a group of 16 girls in one of those great old beach houses that have since disappeared. Despite unlovely changes, the beach is still wonderfully deep white sand with the sea stretching to color-filled sunrises and sunsets.

We started out in Gulf Shores and as the years passed, we kept going further east…finally hitting Perdido Key, FL. Once we hit the empty nest stage, my husband and I started going up to the east coast…Nantucket, Cape Cod, on up into Maine. I love it all…but think Cape Cod is my favorite.

    Turtle Bay beach

  • Ianete

I live in Hawaii so it’s hard to pick the most beautiful beach. I’d have to say it’s Keawekapu Beach on Maui’s south shore. When I was a kid, we spent the summers there–wide, like a lake in the morning, waves to catch in the afternoon. Plus a view of 3 other islands–Molokini, Kahoolawe, and Lanai. Sometimes the ocean can make one feel lonely as it’s so vast, but not at Keawekapu–always the 3 islands to keep you comany.

  • Barbara M.

I don’t remember names since it’s been many years ago, but it’s a toss-up between an Hawaiian beach off of the Big Island (it was kind of private) and another beach at Cancun.
I think this copper collar is beautiful and I would surely wear this, even though I haven’t worn any jewelry but my wedding ring in over 6 years. I need to break that bad habit, don’t I?

There is a little beach on a very small lake in Longmont, CO where the water is clean and the families that live in the neighborhood can bring there children. The water is shallow and warms up early and the little kids just love it. Of course you look up and see the beautiful foothills of the Rookies.

  • Erin Minta

Best beach ever??? Ho-Hum Beach, Bellport, LI, NY.

  • Terrie

Have been to a lot of beaches but by far the best were the private beaches on Turtle Island, Fiji, strictly due to the fact that they were PRIVATE.

  • Pattie Medeiros

I live on the Island of Kauai, Hawaii. Take your pick of the most lovely beaches in the world!!! My favorite is Anini Beach.

  • Linda McGarrah

I would have to say St. Petersburg beach in Florida.

  • Barb

    Wow, it’s hard to make a choice…
I’ll go with what I would call an atypical beach experience: While visiting a friend in San Francisco, we went horseback riding on the beach in Half Moon Bay. That’s was great!
That’s not what my normal beach experience is like; I’m usually hanging out reading books, people watching and trying to get some color wthout getting too burned!

I love Rum Point in Grand Cayman. You could walk about a half mile into calm water without it covering your head. Occassionally, a stingray will brush against you and continue along. The water is clear enough to see the beautiful fish. There are hammocks between the trees without hotel managers rushing up to say only guests can use them. The drinks are cool; the people are warm. What a wonderful experiende. Does this sound like I want to go back? Yes, especially if I’m wearing that sexy collar!

    • bcline

cool…need to put that on my bucket list..going to Panama next!

This necklace is beautiful! The only beach I’ve ever been to was the beaches in New Jersey. I guess I’d say the beach at Cape May.

A little place on Lake Erie called the Point at Van Bueren in Dunkirk New York, the quaintest and private slice of Paradise north of the Mason Dixon line.

Ahhh! I had just turned 13. We were living in northern Italy (Aviano, to be exact, and an hour north of Venice). For my 13th Birthday my parents stuffed all my friends and my birthday cake into the back of “Ol’ Nelly”, our very well used Volvo station wagon. My Dad drove us to a beach on the Adriatic side of the Penninsula. It wasn’t so much the beach, but the best memories a girl could have, all my friends, wading in the sea, watching all the topless women and barely clad men go by. While I’ll never know the name of the beach we went to, it was truly the best beach ever, because of my friends and family and the memories we made that day, so long ago!

  • Cheryl

The last time I went to the beach that I enjoyed was at Crescent Beach Calif I was living in Oregon at the time (which does NOT have pretty beaches). I love this necklace and copper is something I rarely wear….

The Bering Strait. The wind swept water and abundance of the sea never failed to fascinate.

I loved Orange Beach in Alabama!

  • MAM

Any beach on the Oregon or Washington coast. Oregon has beautiful sandy beaches & Washington has rocky shorelines.

  • Susan F.

I am drawn to water so every body of water is pure heaven to me and special in it’s own way. However, I must say the beaches on the Gulf of Mexico can’t be beat. The panhandle of Florida or ever further south on the coast of Florida. If you haven’t been definitely put it on your bucket list.

  • Deborah

I have not traveled alot so I am limited on my opinion. I’ll have to say I loved Orange Beach in Alabama.

  • Susan F.

A woman never can have enough jewelry and shoes and I love wearing jewelry that is one of kind and that you don’t see on everyone else. A copper piece would be fantastic and go great with my hair and eyes. I can see it around my neck already. : )

  • Merry

As a lover of beaches, they are all appealing in different ways, but after living on Isle of Palms, SC for a number of years, it is probably at the top of my list. So many wonderful memories of beach walks at all hours and collecting enough sand dollars to decorate a large Christmas tree – lovely!

  • haremzavandb

    7 mile beach Jamaica

    Daytona Beach Florida

  • smfsprout

The beaches all have their special attributes. I go East for white sand and cold water. I head South for warm water and sun-bathing. I head West for sun and surf. I head North for fresh water splashing. All depends on my mood.

  • Leslie K. Punt

My first experience with the Ocean was way back when I was introduced to a beach called Mismaloya just outside of Puerta Vallarta, Mexico! It was absolutely the most beautiful site I had ever seen, coming from Calgary with no ocean close by!

  • Cindy

Destin, FL years ago before it was built up.

  • LyzaJo Jorgensen

The best beach I’ve ever been to was Turtle Bay in the Virgin Islands. I was visiting my aunt and we were the only two on the beach! …AND WE EVEN SAW SEA TURTLES!

The quiet little beach I grew up with. That beach was on a lake and the little lap, lap, lap noises sound like heaven to me. That sound at night-under the moonlight is the greatest!

  • Pam Parson

I loved the beach at Cozumel,Mexico.

  • Jen Lynn Rutsky

Psarou Beach in Mykonos Greece – so amazing http://www.grapeoccasions.com/images/psarou-beach-nammos-300×200.jpg

Being from Louisiana, I had only gone to the Florida panhandle beaches and loved them because I am definitely a beach person. Then when I met my (now) husband who is from Sarasota and he took me to Siesta Beach, I was in heaven. That is my favorite beach anywhere and now our daughter is getting married on Siesta Beach next month. I would absolutely adore this necklace to wear while we are there–it is such a unique piece and I am all about being a stand-out!

Last year when I made my yearly visit to NJ my son and I went to Sandy Hook. The parking is so close that the beach is so easy to get to. The water and the beach were fantastic. It was the best beach I went to. I live in Arizona, so it is a treat to come to NJ to the beach.

  • Merrill

Love this look! It would go with soooo many things in my wardrobe!

  • Judy Mitchell-Gross

Daytona Beach Florida. Had a great time! I luv the sand & salty water! I live in Indiana & we don’t have that here ! We have lakes; rivers & streams; but no oceans or seas! lol

  • Gayla

I also am not a world traveler but spent many hours on Texas beaches. I have also enjoyed the beaches in Florida. Destin beach or Panama City Beach are great … White sands and clear blue water for as long as the eye can see.

  • Cynthia Finch

I LOVE Cape May! The Victorian houses, all painted up in beautiful colors, the laid back feel — very small arcade and honky tonk area, the beach you can walk on — firm, fairly level, the good restaurants, and some but not too much in the way of shopping — which is not why I go to the beach — perfect!

  • AnnaLeaf

I am not a beach person but the best one I have ever been to is a small beach on Lake Lincoln in Cuivre River State Park in Missouri. I have the best memories of times there.

  • Jane Duggan

My favorite is THE BEACH OF HEAVENLY LOVE in the state of Kelantan, Peninsular Malaysia. I took the bus there day after day bidding on a piece of hand painted silk. Ultimately the seller and I came to an agreement.

    such great memories!

  • Mary E

Ilove the ocean and I’m a Pisces so I would love to have this beautiful work of art.
The best beach I’ve been to is Kapalua in Hawaii.

  • Sharonsue

We always love going to Panama City Beach Florida, yet the beaches in the Bahamas were divine when we were there years ago. We used to live in Colorado, and LOVE to go back to visit quite often. Would LOVE to wear this necklace there and also to our Karaoke gigs!!!!

  • Betty Herbert

I’m not much of a beach person. I’m not comfortable with all the commercialism at most tourist beaches. If I’m going on a beach vacation I always head to Bald Head Island, NC. 3 miles out into the Atlantic, private, no boardwalk, no carnival atmosphere. Just time to relax with the family and read a good book.

  • CJ

I love each and every beach that I’ve visited, even the rocky ones! My favorite beach would have to be the one where we honeymooned – and that’s why it would be my favorite – South Daytona Beach.

  • Jamison Kaufman

The best beach I’ve been to is the one where my family and I are all spending time together — playing and talking and eating in the sun!

  • Linda Owens

    Monteray Bay Beach

  • mandrada

Boracay, Philippines (out of 7,000+ islands…see it to believe it!)

Coronado Beach! Love, love the necklace. Has sort of a Native American flair that reminds me of my heritage.

  • LD1111

    Clearwater Beach, FL

  • Gayle LaSalle

My brother lives in St. Thomas and there’s just nothing like Megan’s Bay unless you take a boat out to one of the uninhabited islands, nearby.

  • Mamavalveeta03

Well, I’d say ANY Montauk beach, but that would draw more people here to our little hamlet, so I won’t say it.

  • Karen H in NC

I’m not a world traveler nor have I traveled extensively in the US. So the best beach I’ve visited would have to be the Outer Banks Islands and beaches of North Carolina. Followed closely with any beach along Lake Michigan on the Michigan side of the lake.

  • Dorothy Borgese
