{Giveaway} A signed copy of Denise Austin’s “Get Energy! Empower Your Body, Love Your Life” + 3 workout DVDs

FOF television and DVD fitness star Denise Austin is giving away a signed copy of her just-released book Get Energy! Empower Your Body, Love Your Life plus 3 of her workout DVDs.

To enter, comment below and answer: Have you ever worked out to a fitness video? Which one?

“Denise Austin practices what she preaches,” said legendary fitness enthusiast Jack LaLanne, who gave Denise her a first big break on his show. And it’s true… Denise works out just 30 minutes each day (“I really try to make the 30 minutes very effective and efficient because I don’t have a lot of time.”) and eats healthily but indulges a little too (“I eat well 80% of the time and have my treats 20% of the time”). In her just-released book Get Energy! Empower Your Body, Love Your Life, 53-year-old Denise Austin shares the food and fitness plan that’s allowed her to maintain her booming body and her booming business for the past 30 years.

The book has a quiz to help readers identify their own energy-zappers, a list of energy-boosting foods and guidelines on when to eat them, mini-workout routines and more.

“I wrote ‘Get Energy!’ because I meet with women all the time who ask me, ‘Denise, how do you have so much energy?'” says Denise. I compiled the tips and stretches that I use throughout the day to stay energized and fit!

Denise’s workout bible has already received glowing reviews: “Denise Austin makes the Energizer Bunny look lethargic,” wrote People magazine editors. “Denise Austin probably could motivate a statue,” said a review in the Chicago Tribune.

In 1991 I was on the TOPPS(Take Off Pounds Sensibly) and wanted to do aerobics and toning exercises. Between your tapes and Richard Simmmons I lost 43 pounds in a year and 1/2. I have since decided to get off the roller coaster of gaining and loosing. I am going on a lifetime change of only organic, no preservatives and additives and no growth hormones. Everything natural and will be looking for a tape to exercise to. The main reason for this change is my health because I have so many disesases and chronic disorders that I know now are from all of the above. I will also lose weight but what I really want to do is tone up what I have. Looking forward to your daily newsletters and exercises, oh yes and the recipes. I know with the change in diet and one or two of your tapes I will conquer these ailments and I will have a lot better second half of my life.

The first time I really used a workout video and stuck to a workout plan was a little over two years ago. I saw a commercial for the Get Fit Daily Dozen and thought I would give it a try. A daily workout of 12 minutes seemed easy enough. So I bought the DVD and easy it was not. I was sweating like crazy. I was able to lose weight and trim inches off my body. I have since puchased and utilized four more Denise Austin DVDs. I truly love you, Denise. You are such an inspiration and a part of my everyday life. Thank you!

LOL! Have I worked out to “A” fitness video? I just went to my shelves & counted: I have 12 Denise Austin videos that I switched through using daily for years, as well as Zumba from 2002 (before the current craze where people seem to have just discovered it!), Tae Bo, WW fitness, & of course The BellyTwins. Sadly, all but a few of the Belly Twins’ are VHS, from nearly 10 years ago, in my 40s, before I grew so tired I couldn’t exercise anymore. When doc finally checked my thyroid as I’d asked for 3 years & diagnosed me Hypothyroid, it took a couple years to figure out that Synthroid wasn’t helping. I still haven’t found doctor to take me seriously & look for real cause of constant fatigue & no energy to exercise (all think I’m just middle-aged woman who eats too much & won’t exercise & won’t admit it); in last 3 years have managed to make it to Ballroom Dance lessons w/husband, but still not up to fitness videos. Follow Denise Austin, still, though; I find her a true inspiration, & will definitely be checking into the new book!

In the 80s I went through a phase of just workout videos on days when I didn’t use the Soloflex. The two I used to workout to the most were Greg Smithey’s Buns of Steel and Tamilee Webb”s Thighs of Steel. I used some other Tamilee videos but cannot remember the names. Callanetics with Callan Pinckney was challenging for me. I used other videos I don’t remember as well that did all over workouts in 30-45 minutes. I also continued into the 90s with Tae Bo and some yoga videos. Now I occassionally do a pilates video or a yoga video. My hectic schedule only leaves time for the stationary bike or exercising with hand weights these days. I would love to read the book written by a woman my exact age and would definitely make time for the videos since she just works out 30 minutes a day.
