The Calla Lily rates number #1 with me. I carried them in my wedding bouquet. I remember the florist wasn’t happy with the purity of the white color because they were tinged with yellow and didn’t meet her standards for a wedding bouquet. The Gardenia is my favorite flower. My late grandmother rooted me a gardenia in an old glass coke bottle. I planted it at my home in Kentucky and then when we had to relocate to Mississippi I brought it with me. It blooms so many times a year my neighbors swear I’m doing something special but I’m not. What is not to love about flowers…they can change a feel of a room, speak words that you cannot say and celebrate our lifes successes. At first I was taken with all the beautiful roses. My choice is the Good Karma bouquet. I always have fresh flowers in my apartment, and they’re always pink! I had two stems of these very same lilies a few months ago, and the fragrance they gave off was so heavenly. The entire apartment was filled with it, and you could smell it the second you walked in the front door. I always change the water and cut off a little bit of the end of the every day, and these beautiful lilies lasted for a good three weeks. It was a wonderfully pleasurable experience.

Dude-quet. I agree that the white Calla Lillies combined with Green Ruscus is certainly a strong, classic look. I think that describes me as well; strong and classic. Being single for 11 years, I rarely, if any, receive flowers and miss the excitement of opening the door to someone greeting me with a gorgeous bouquet of happiness. White calla lilies remind me of purity and innocence of childhood, and all the wonderful memories of being the baby of eleven. Sigh.

I am a very conservative Libra. So, when ill or sick I ask my friends and family to bring me a small living tree or plant (rosebush) to plant. However, my sister had lost her husband and is going thru breast cancer (radiation for ten weeks). She is a breast cancer survivor so I stop by the plant store every two weeks and take her fresh flowers. How these fresh flowers not only brighten her day, but mine as well. Also, when I get a little ahead on my finances, I take some fresh flowers to our local nursing home. WOW, do their eyes light up when I walk in with them. My sister will be finished with her radiation next week, but would love to continue taking fresh flowers to celebrate “A cancer survivor” as well and brighten the Nursing Home(s) patients.

I adore lilies. The “Kindred Spirit” bouquet really caught my eye. Not only are the lilies gorgeous in the way they are ‘uplifting’ – they seem to lift their heads, their blooms, towards the heavens, like a prayer, but also in their name, Kindred Spirit. “Kindred Spirit” is a bond between beings at a higher level of consciousness. I feel drawn to flowers, lilies in particular. They bring me closer to the divine through their beauty and aroma. I think my favorite flower is Lily of the Valley. Although they don’t work well in a bouquet they are a simple, small flower that has a gorgeous aroma that can fill a room.
