Bonnie Glogover of Glogover Hosiery is giving away a pair of her Convertibles–tights that can be worn three ways: closed toe, open toe, or at ankle-high length. Enter to win by answering in the comments below: Would you wear tights with open-toe shoes?
Can’t wait to find out if you won? Now, you can buy Convertibles tights in the FOF shop.
Bonnie Glogover thought up these clever tights while getting a pedicure. Watching women at the nail salon cut their hose in order to expose their toes, she thought “there must be a better way.” Bonnie and her dad, Stanley Glogover, inventor of nursing and maternity bras, whipped up a prototype for tights with a convertible toe flap. Two years later the product was granted a patent. Investing $100,000 of her own money in the idea, Bonnie took her first batch of manufactured tights to bank cafeterias in New York City, Connecticut and New Jersey to see if they would sell. When she sold out of all 30,000 pairs, she knew she had a winning product on her hands…and feet!
Your have inventor genes! Your dad was a successful inventor–what about your mom?
My mother was the hostess of Romper Room, a television show where she taught kids manners and their ABCs. She was a very proper woman and always dressed me in pantyhose from the day I was born.
Wow–so pantyhose never bothered you?
I wear them every day, even under jeans. However, the seam at the toe was always bothersome to me. I always thought it would be great if it could be eliminated. That was one of the inspirations for Convertibles, which feature an ‘invisible’ seam.
Tights with seamless toes that can be worn for pedicures–genius! What other uses do they have?
When they are converted open, they can be worn with sandals, open-toe or peep-toe shoes. You can wear them barefoot when you go dancing or if you are going to the foot doctor.
That’s great–but did you have to sacrifice anything when you added all the ‘extras’?
Not at all–I shopped my prototype around and settled on a manufacturer in North Carolina because of their excellent quality control. They are made from 20 denier nylon–this premium quality would normally cost double in the department store…without all the bells and whistles.

Hey I love the Co-op I can get things there I can’t find anyrwehe else and your staff is so knowledgeable and friendly I have been able to fix a lot of physical problems before they became chronic we all have to learn to maintain our health ourselves and the co-op really helps us do that. However can you re-stripe your parking lot? If you angled the spaces instead of having cars back into each other, it would help so much getting in and out. You could have entry on each side in the direction of the parking space. Please help me take care of my car as well as my body when I shop at the co-op. Happy Holidays

atlellie says:
It depends on the shoe. If they are strap open toes, the rolled up hose would show and I would not wear them. If there is a wide top front with a smaller open toe, then it would be a great asset to keep shoes from rubbing feet. I would gladly try them with some of my open toe shoes.

Tina Ashton says:
Absolutely would wear them with open toe shoes especially under pants. I never understood why women gave up on pantyhose. I love they way they hold everything together and smooth you out. Never could handle the spanx movement. Too tight but pantyhose give you some firming without the stomach ache and these provide options for wear with a variety of clothes.
valorosa says:
I’d love to wear tights with open toed shoes that way you wouldn’t see my varicose veins. I didn’t know they had these tights. I think I will see where I can buy them anyway.
KatieQ says:
What a great idea! I love the smooth look panty hose gives with a dress, but I also love open toe shoes so it’s usually a problem for me. This is a great solution.

I would like to try these but I also have another question. When I wear nylons i don’t wear underware because its too much, so wearing nylons alone make me sweat and then I have an oder. The little cotton that is sometimes used in the nylons does not help so I don’t wear them unless I have to and not for very long. Do you have any recommondations for this?
Sharon Cherro says:
use a panty liner
pmack says:

Sue says:
This is a very intriguing concept. I want to try out these tights. I am 60 and am a former Romper Room fan, too!
yyoerger says:
I “toe-tally” would wear these! I’ve never given up wearing hose, even in summer with sandals because the air conditioning at my work is sooooo cold, I need coverage.
Sunn ymay says:
The toes of pantyhose tend to cause me the most problems, so having thie options of rolling the toe section out of the way would give my toes room to breathe and cause less snagging overall.
SGAwalkvt says:
I love the idea of toeless stocking. I most definitely would wear them. I dislike being dressed up and wearing no stockings. And, my legs are such that they need to be covered up a bit. But, it causes a bit of woe in the summer. I miss wearing open toed or sandals when I’m dressed up. This would be the perfect solution and I would love to try them out. And I can’t believe Bonnie mother was the hostess of Romper Room. I remember that show growing up, there are two I can remember, Miss Gwen and Miss Donna. Were either one Bonnie’s mom? What fun!
Kathy11016 says:
Why not? Yes I would love to try the product with
open toe shoes. Would be lovely to wear to work.
VMAH says:
great idea!
Ariel J. Smythe says:
I would definitely wear the open-toed tights with open-front shoes. What a great idea… consider all of the possibilities: after-work convertability for pedicures, freedom to pack less for weekend trips (only one pair vs. several), and the joy of being able to strip off high heels late at night and dance barefoot until the sun comes up without concern of runs or tears… while still having gorgeous-looking legs!
darlenecom says:
