Christophe Jouany is giving away two his Jouany Perfumes, inspired by exotic travel destinations ($125 each). One FOF will win “Marrakech,” the other will win “St. Barthélemy.“ Enter to win by answering in the comments below: Which fragrance would you most want to try?
If you’re looking for a fragrance that drives FOF men crazy–who better to ask than an FOF man? “I was in touch with my sense of smell since I was young,” says Christophe Jouany, the FOF perfumer behind Jouany Fragrances, a collection that launched this fall at Henri Bendel and is already turning heads…er…noses.
Christophe spent most his life as a fashion photographer, snapping shots for Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire and Glamour. (He was even the official photographer for the royal family of Jordan.) A few years ago, while on a photo shoot in Miami, Christophe wandered into a store that sold essential oils. “I was like a kid in a candy store,” he says.
Right then and there, Christophe created the prototype of his first scent. “Everyone kept asking me what it was and where they could get it–even my cab driver,” he says. A long-time perfumer friend confirmed the scent was extremely well structured, and Christophe got to work manufacturing it for mass market. “It was like building a machine engine,” he says. “So many moving parts.” The biggest obstacle, according to Christophe, was finding an inexpensive source for essential oils. “When you use essential oils in a fragrances, it’s like the difference between an expensive wine and a cheap wine,” he says.
Christophe believes that the sense of smell is the most underrated. “When people come back from a trip, they talk about what they did, but not the smell of the air,” he says. Christophe’s collection aims to bottle the “scent memories,” a person has when they visit exotic destinations. He is creating one scent per city and started with St. Barthélemy, his hometown. “It’s a very hippie-chic place, so I used Jasmine and Patchouli for that one,” he says. “In my second fragrance, Marrakech, I used orange blossom. Marrakech is the biggest producer of oranges.”
Christophe presented his line at Sniffapalooza, a major perfume industry event, this past April. A Henri Bendel buyer got a whiff of it, and before Christophe knew it, his perfumes were being stocked in their store. “Henri Bendel is very chichi and they only carry about ten fragrance lines. They thought mine was beautiful enough in presentation and in smell to carry at their store.”
Enter to win one of two Jouany Perfumes by answering in the comments below: Which fragrance would you most want to try–“Marrakech” or “St. Barthélemy?“
Thank you for entering. This contest is now closed.
Two FOFs will win.

I think I would like to try St. Barthelemy. I love Jasmine. I have always told my girls when they go for a job interview to remember to smell good too. I think leaving a scent for people to remember and comment on is a great door opener.
KAREN COGBURN says:
Marrakech is such a lovely place & would love this.

You are HANDS DOWN my favorite phrtogoapher and I have not even had my session with you yet!! So glad that Elise Johnson introduced me to you! I love ALL your work!! Our session is coming up and I am so excited to see what beautiful and creative pictures you will take of my precious baby girl!!
Nola says:
I am most intrigued by, and most want to try, St. Barthelemy. To me perfume is all about seduction. So I like sensual, exotic fragrances. I am intrigued by the composition of grapefruit as a top note, used with patchouli. I have never been to St. Bart., and am curious to experience it via this fragrance – It just might compel me to go!
My earliest memories are of scent: My mother’s smell of soap, my grandfather’s cherry-scented pipe tobacco, my grandmother’s smell of gardenia and rose, the smell of coffee brewing, the peppery smell of fresh lettuce. If I couldn’t smell, I couldn’t taste my food or enjoy a glass of wine. I couldn’t imagine life without scent.
My life is like little scent capsules of time. In high school I wore an essential oil of violet. In college I went from cyphres to floral orientals. Everything was marked by scent: Boyfriends, breakups, birthdays, new jobs – everything.
Throughout my life, I have been aware of the power of scent – how it awakens memory, how it transports you. When you wear fragrance, it can lift your mood, it can comfort you, it can recreate a feeling that you had when you walked through a certain city, over a certain bridge, along a certain beach. With just one whiff, you are somewhere else. It’s magic.
I would love to be transported to St. Barthelemy!

Julie L says:
Marrakech” like to win thanks
Donna Blair says:
I’m searching for a new perfume…would love to try either one of these. They sound wonderful !
Trisha says:
St Barthelemy. I would like to try a different fragrance. I find too may cloying, and usually stick with Chanel #5 but I love pachouli, so, I think this would be great for me.
MaryK says:
This is a tough choice! I would probably go for the St. Barthelemy because it represents his hometown and therefore his own memories. Scent is “deep seated” in my memory. Even though I am in my 50s, pipe tobacco still sparks special memories of my grandfather. A certain cologne, when worn by a passing shopper, stops me in my tracks with memories of my Nana!
mabolf says:
I love perfume! I wear it always no matter what! The Marrakech sounds delightful!!
caityranda says:

AubreyZ says:
Wow!!! I read about these on nstperfume and have been wondering about them ever since! Both sound beautiful in their own ways. Marrakesh sounds so pretty (orange blossom + musk? yes please!) BUT St Barthelemy sounds very unique and unlike anything else in my collection. It’d be tough. I think I’d go for Marrakesh but I hope one day to own BOTH. Jouany should consider having a duo set in smaller sizes because they both sound FANTASTIC! 🙂

I haven’t had the opportunity to visit such exotic locations as St. Barthélemy and Marrakech and do not really see any prospect of ever being able to do so. I would love to try Christophe Jouany’s Marrakech perfume, because it’s me. I have also just started my own cosmetic cream and spa line based on Argan Oil, which comes from Morocco. I have visited Marrakech , and experienced it’s intoxicationg smells, food, and beautiful architecture. I usually don’t like traditional perfumes, and am adventurous when it comes to trying something new. I use orange blossom in my products, why not try a perfume with that scent! It would be a dream come true.

Christi Barrier says:
St.Barthelemy. If my husband responds to this, it must indeed be a miracle! He’s 62 and never smells anything I wear.
Laura Jarvis says:
Either one would be great as I love perfume. Perfumes are something that you don’t have to fit into so it is so easy to find so many scents that you like . The St Barthélemy with the Jasmine & Patchouli sounds delightful but who can pass up the fragrance of orange blossoms.
latinpheonix says:
I think I would like to try the Marrakech… Something new and exotic would be nice.

Christy says:
Marrakech ~ I love the name and oranges are one of my favorite scents.
DLori27 says:
I’m sure both perfumes are absolutely delicious and exotic but I’d have to choose St. Barthélemy, named after his hometown. When someone creates anything as a representation of their hometown, they want it to be unique and exceptional. I’m sure this perfume is no exception and I’m sure it smells absolutely devine. Also, as a native New Yorker, who was born with a very hippie-chic sense of style, I think this perfume would be a perfect match for me.
Thank you for the opportunity to possibly wn this very generous giveway. Happy Holidays and Good Luck To All!!!!!
