{Giveaway} Shabby Chic accent table worth $180

FOF Rachel Ashwell is giving away a Shabby Chic® distressed hand painted accent table from her new QVC ‘Treasures’ line launching October 26th. To enter, tell us in the comments below: What is your decorating style?

Shabby Chic® Queen Rachel Ashwell is at it again! Her new line, “Treasures by Shabby Chic® for QVC” inspired by her favorite flea market finds, launches next week.

Known for her deliberately distressed, mismatched and imperfect furniture, bedding and fabrics, Rachel got her start as a Hollywood movie set designer and stylist more than twenty years ago.

In 1989, Rachel dreamed of opening a small shop where she could sell “pretty things,” without spending much time away from her children. Her first shop in Santa Monica, California, became the cornerstone of her “Shabby Chic” empire. Today her products and textiles can be found in Target, Michaels, and most recently QVC, and the term Shabby Chic®, is used to refer to an entire style of decorating. Rachel has written half a dozen books on decorating in her Shabby Chic® style.

‘Treasure” hunting is in Rachel’s blood. Her mother was a restorer and seller of antique dolls, and her father was a rare book dealer. They introduced Rachel to flea markets and antique stores at a young age. Her all-time favorite finds were the inspiration for her newest collection and book, Shabby Chic Inspirations and Beautiful Spaces.

Enter to win a shabby chic accent table from Rachel Ashwell’s new “Treasures” collection for QVC by telling us in the comments below: What is you decorating style?

(See all our past winners. See official rules. See QVC’s official rules. One winner is chosen at random from all those commenters who answer the question. Contest closes October 27, 2011.)

Thank you for entering. This contest is now closed.

usually my mood dictates my decorating style, i am in the process of redoing what i am calling my back room. just finished painting, now i go to yard sales and estate sales, love unique finds, also i find pieces i can sand down and re-do to whatever finish i feel at the time. i love this piece, i already see where i would put it in my back room, i have 9 windows there, the house was built in 1930 and my mom left it to me so to honor her this would go in her favorite part of the back room, thank you for this great opportunity!!

I’d have to call my decorating style animal friendly as I have a big dog (100 lb Weimaraner), 3 cats and a husband. We live in a 120+ year old house in an old French section of St. Louis and shabby chic would go great with it. I can just see the accent table in my entry hall under the almost 100 year old portrait of my great-grandmother .

Well okay, since you asked. My favorite decorating style is Rachell Ashwell’s style… for real, I’m not kidding one little bit. I am in awe of her style. white, white, white with a touch of pastel color & ruffles, comfy covered couch, antique love-seat or a chair, (I saw a cute one at her boutique in Santa Monica and should have bought it) chandeliers, beautifully rich satin draperies that pool onto the floor. All that is Rashell Ashwell – is what I love 🙂 I haven’t many of her things though, I’m a beginner, but it’s my hearts desire. Her books are especially helpful too I’ve found. Thanks for asking.

FUN, I have never been a woman where everything has to match, I love distressed furniture and also peices that have that fun look. When I go into a home that everything in the rooms totally match, it makes me feel as though I am in a showroom of a store. There are peices I would take out of that room and put with other peices from other rooms, when I get tired of looking at certain rooms I know I can move things around with what I already have, and I have alot of fun doing that, also I love redoing some peices, sanding them down, also when I sand some peices I will leave certain areas alone, I will put a semi-transparant, maybe a clear or light colr leaving the sanding visible, fun fun fun, restaining them, or repainting them and making a new look just by redoing what I already have. People come in and ask WOW where did you get this or that and I tell them that was the peice I had before I just refurbished the peice. Fun, is what I have, not having alot of money I have alot of ideas with peices I already have. To win this distressed accent able to me would be awesome, it has the stye, color and definatly the fun already in the peice and it already has a place in my home, would I love to win this, are you kidding me, YES YES YES, thank you for this chance, good luck to everyone, this hand painted accent table is awesome, whoever painted this has a fun and unique taste, KUDOS to the creator.

My style is start with neutral colors as a foundation (walls and/or floors/carpets), then spice it up with splashes of color in the decor pieces (paintings, accent pieces, etc.). We have done one bathroom in a lovely soft sage, and splashed it up with sunflowers and earthy bird prints and accent pieces. It looks so nice together, but is not overwhelming. Some items are wire art – see through – that gives depth and texture to the walls. Amazing how shopping at several different places allowed us to piece together a charming little bathroom with just the right accents.

My decorating style is electic. I like all sorts of pieces ranging from a living room filled with Hendredon Artefacts and accented with lots of antique oriental pieces like my grandma’s Chinese trunk from the 19th century. In addition my home must have lots of plants to provide oxygen and a feeling of a light and airy space. We light to bring the indoors in during the winter so we have an Alice du Pont plant flowering at the current moment. We also have a beautiful white hydragena. In our family room we have a beautiful floral couch and 2 comfy chairs that recline so we can sit back and enjoy the television, read, or pet our dogs. The shabby chic table would be the perfect accent table to put on the left of my comfy cream -colored chair. It would add romance to the room along with our other unique table we picked from one of my multitude of catalogs. Plus it would be very functuntional. At this time we only have one small glass table that I get to utlize between us. I could use to put a cup of freshly brewed coffee on and one of my many african violets. I just know it would be perfect in our house.

My decorating style is a polar opposite from my husband’s. (You don’t want to know what his is.) I tend to favor Arts and Crafts, and it fits with our rustic log cabin style home. However, what we have is my deceased mother’s colonial, colonial revival, leather sofas, cabin rustic, and a bunch of oriental accents mixed with shabby chic here and there, plus my husband’s junk. It’s interesting, comfortable, liveable, and I’m not too embarrassed to invite guests over.

The quality that’s ‘me’ is a constant, no matter what the decor. Lots of color, a sense of whimsy and things I love always combine to produce a warm and welcoming space.

I love this about living in this house. We’ve been redoing what used to be our daughter’s room as a guest room. Her bed was shabby chic and will remain in the room as will the shabby chic wash stand. The Shabby Chic table would look SO great next to my bed as my bed cover is a black & white Le Fleur design, and I recently painted my bedroom a pale bluish/green.
