It’s wedding season across the country… and on Broadway. The classic comedy, Abie’s Irish Rose, is revived with a 21st-century take in the uproarious new musical, It Shoulda Been You. Directed by David Hyde Pierce, the comedy takes us through the ups-and-downs of the Jewish/Catholic wedding day between Rebecca (Sierra Boggess) and Brian (David Burtka).
You’ll be in for a number of surprises in this 100-minute, no intermission, “wedding,” which obviously takes several detours, from an ex-boyfriend trying to stop the wedding to a last-minute prenuptial agreement.
Tyne Daly stars as the stereotypical Jewish mother, and Desperate Housewives’ Harriet Harris will keep you laughing until curtain call.
