{What do you think of this look?} Lovely in labels or simply showing off?

This FOF we spotted on the streets of downtown NYC is certainly label happy! In one outfit she manages to sport Chanel (earrings), Tiffany (bracelet and necklace) and a Gucci (bag). What do you think? Is she lookin’ lovely in labels or simply showing off? Read what our style experts think, then, tell us your opinion in the comments, below.

Lovey Dash: It’s not the multi designer frenzy that bothers me, it’s the fact that she looks sooo soo boring. I do not think I would look twice at this person–she would just blend in with a crowd and hopefully disappear! B-O-R-I-N-G!

Lovey Dash is a Beverly Hills-based stylist. She was formerly in VIP sales for Louis Vuitton on Rodeo Drive.

Sherrie Mathieson: I’m not a fan of bags that have logos all over them and likewise those Tiffany pieces are not particularly beautiful. The sparkly socks at the top of her boots are garish and not in line with her look. This lady is not stylish in an independent, creative way. Rather she stays safe and consequently, ho-hum.

Karen C. Hughes: When everything you have on is a ‘statement’ or a ‘label’ then nothing is special. There’s nothing exciting about her outfit. What would I recommend she do? Swap one of these pieces for something truly unique. To spice things up I would add some color or even belt the sweater to give some shape to her body. It just kind of hangs there. That being said, she has a great smile and I like each of her pieces on their own.

Susan Hersh: The shawl collar cardigan is a keeper! It adds lightness to her black dress. The boots are too slouchy and not refined enough for this outfit. A fine leather knee-high boot would polish this look as well as transition better from day to night.

There is nothing striking or particularly unusual about this look, apart from the shawl cardigan that could be worn with a little more imagination. The labels are not relevant, it is the entire look that counts, and I find the boots much to heavy and masculine for the outfit. I stand by my motto -unless I can say something good about a person, to abstain from negative comment. This lady tried, and her look is acceptable, perhaps not smashing but not entirely without style.

Well I guess there is a lot to be said for more money then brains. The necklace and the bracelet looks like something a teenager would wear. A colorful statement necklace would change this whole outfit. But more than anything I would want to change her hair style and color. Imagine if her hair was a bit longer, well styled and black like her eyebrows. Maybe it’s not the outfit after all. Also, this women has an excellent pair of legs. If mine looked that good I would toss the boots for a great pair of designer heals. While were at it it looks like she has a beautiful waste line too Why isn’t she wearing a belt and showing it off?

She may look a tad boring…can’t see sparkle socks on my IPad…and I do think a sleeker boot would look far better…give her somewhat casual/messy look a crisper look..but to me the problem is not so much with her outfit…but her hair and lack of makeup…just a bit of blush/lipgloss..would give her a completely different look…to me, she looks like she woke up and got dressed….but forgot everything else….she needs to put her nitie back on and get back in bed !

I don’t see anything wrong with the jewelry,it is small and discreet enough. I also do not care for clothing/accessories with large logos. I think her hair is fine, and she has a great smile. I would have perhaps chosen other boots, and certainly a longer dress. But, thank goodness she isn’t wearing those awful leggings.

Definitely needs a pop of color. I would suggest black tights and black ankle boots (those boots aren’t right), a belt to add shape and I’d either trade the bag for the pop of color or add a scarf.

She’s definitely stylish. We’re talking the difference here between stylish and a fashion role model.

She has a number of designer items but she’s not wearing them garishly. It’s just for the price she paid they didn’t add to her total look.

I like the overall look she has going…the sweater is fantastic. I’m definitely not a fan of logo bags…you’re paying a fortune to give the designer free advertising. The fact she is wearing multiple logo items indicates a little insecurity to me :(. I have to say, though, if you have that much money why not invest in a good hair style? Seems a little incongruous to go out with thousands of dollars in accessories and not make your best effort with something as simple as good grooming !

I just love the sweater – but the outfit lacks excitement. If you wear a big topper (sweater) isn’t the rule to stay uber-lean with the bottoms (rest of the outfit)? This would work if she had pumped it up with some leggings (keep the boots, lose the socks) and an interesting belt over a slim tunic. With that sweater and some great colors, or even black under it, it would rock as long as the belt had pop to it! She has the figure for it, why hide? The bag and the earrings: not particularly interesting, but no real ‘fashion foul’ there. ONE MORE THING – red lipstick fixes the dullest of outfits/days/moods. Pop the makeup, Sista – lipstick, even designer lipstick, is cheap, quick and showcases that adorable smile!

She looks great. Labels? I thought you meant tags sticking out somewhere. Unnoticed and unconcerned. If she bought it to wear and use – why not? She is stylish and happy – perfect.

Not everyone works in an office or in fashion, her outfit is perfect for a casual day out and about. I like that she looks good without being lockstep with the ridiculous high heels that are the style now. Good for her and you rock your own style!

I think she looks lovely, not colorful, but way above average for a day out and about. The labels are not overwhelming in any way. I say kudos to a lovely, well-dressed FOF!

I think she looks fine. As someone who dresses in a similar fashion I would wear her outfit in a heartbeat. Without any designer stuff of course since I can’t afford it ;). The boots are cute, I rarely if ever wear a heel.

The first thing that caught my attention were the boots; does not go with this outfit. I don’t mind everything else, although she could put a little color into her outfit; earrings and bracelets could have red stones in it for example. Her hair needs some styling. I can’t say whether she is showing off, since I don’t know her.

    Agree “boring”!
    Nothing “pops”!
Love black & white – but, I also include a color or an unusal necklace [sometimes include both].
Being able to afford “labels” does not guarantee taste!

My opinion…The beige heather cable cardigan by Black Label Ralph Lauren is the most interesting piece in this gal’s ensemble.

Bare legs or legs with sheer hosiery worn with boots are just not attractive. She should have had colored tights with those boots to elongate the leg. That sweater is cute but not with that outfit. Looks like she just threw on whatever sweater she had close by. Also, if you have the money to wear all those labels, for heaven’s sake get to your hair stylist and do something about that I-just-rolled-out-of-bed look!

I think the overall look of this outfit is “blah” although I like her sweater. Agree that it could use a belt. But, nothing stands out as unique or interesting. I don’t care for logo’ed items at all. Seems too pretentious.

I think she looks sweet. Perhaps ALL her accessories and clothing are “labels”. Some people have the resources to wear such as that every day and think nothing of it. Her hair is simple. So is mine. I rue the days when I had it cut, permed, colored, styled, backcombed and sprayed stiff. Natural is so much better and easier. I think we are way too critical……can’t we be kind for a change? On a scale of 1-10, I give her an 8. To each her own!

To the FOF in the photo; I say, lose the bag, different jewelry and add a little color to your hair/face, and the rest is cute!

I’m with you, Celeste! There is a lovely woman in that picture.

I’ve realized at over fifty I will wear, do and say what I like (but I always have, just even more so now) and the criticizers be damned. I’m sure none of these catty women would like what I wear, and I don’t really care.

As for labels and logos, you notice them if you are a brand trendy name dropper. I didn’t notice them, just the lovely smile on her face.

I was just thinking that our young women face an uphill battle against stereotyping and judgement. I guess it’s not just the young women. I had hoped that this would be left behind in high school… think again.

You go, Lady in the Picture. You look mahvalous! If whatever you are wearing makes you smile like that, then you just go for it!

Boring, not a lover of items that shout out the logo. She needs color in her outfit, also a touch of lip color would make her look less washed out.

I didnt even notice the “branding”.. to be honest. I was drawn to the sweater which is very cool. I also was drawn in by the lack of hairstyle. Maybe she needs a pop of color there. She looks washed out.

I agree that she looks just bland. the sweater looks shapeless and maybe the commentator is right that a belt would help. I definitely agree with all of those that a splash of color is needed. I would replace the bag with a bright pop of color. I don’t care for earrings but no big deal.

She is adorable, but there’s just something “off” to my eye. I think it might be the bag and the boots. I am NOT a fan of logo items. A chic leather bag in a color echoing her sweater would be lovely. And I’m not a fan of the jewelry, either. Maybe something more “standout”, with color, or a little “ethnic” would have spiced up her ensemble more. I agree with Susan: Chicer, sleeker boots, with more of a heel, would be better. But I love her sweater with her haircolor.
