Both are hyaluronic acids — both are made in a laboratory. Juvederm is manufactured by Allergan (makers of Botox) and Restylane is made by Medicis (makers of Dysport). Restylane is a little “stiffer” — perhaps a bit better to fill tear trough areas/hollows under the eyes. Juvederm is softer — very nice for filling lips. Bottom line is that both are temporary fillers that stimulate you to make your own collagen. The effects of both are also reversible with an enzyme called hyaluronidase that dissolves the filler.

Juvederm and Restylane are very similar in that they are both hyaluronic acid gels that are injected under the skin to physically take up volume and lift creases. They do not weaken muscles or do anything with nerves (like Botox and Dysport). Different physicians believe that either Juvederm or Restylane is softer, better for certain areas, or lasts longer. But everyone seems to disagree on which does each of these, so it appears that after all of the marketing hype, they are both excellent, reliable products in the right hands, and are generally equivalent. They come in different shaped syringes so different doctors might feel comfortable using one or the other, and the Restylane syringes come with slightly more than 1.0cc filled, whereas the Juvederm comes with 0.8cc in a typical single syringe. I hope this has helped you to sort out your thoughts.

They are both products that contain Hyaluronic Acid gel. The manufacturers will make a big “deal” about the differences between the two, but in my experience I have found that, with very few exceptions, they have the same longevity after injected.

both of these products are fillers and the main ingredients are Hyaluronic Acid molecule which is a natural “sugar” molecule found in our bodies. the main difference is the bonding molecules between the Hyaluronic acids that make the juvederm product last longer than resylane
