I’m looking for a place to have my daughter’s bat mitvah in March. I’d like a loft I could rent or a restaurant with a private space (as long as there’s room for the kids to dance). There will be about 40 adults and 20 kids. I’m on a budget, any suggestions would be appreciated.

While I don’t have an answer, if you can put your hands on a Zagat’s, at the back there are lists on places you can rent, etc. Mazel tov!

Hi there — have you looked into the Queens County Farm — they have a fabulous barn you can rent for events for a pretty reasonable price! (http://queensfarm.org/rent.html)
Also, the Foundry in Long Island City (just a stop from Manhattan on the N, Q train) is pretty unique: http://www.thefoundry.info/

Mazel Tov! I’m not sure about budget, but one of the places my daughter had seriously considered for her wedding last year was Battery Gardens, on the water downtown overlooking the NY Harbor & Statue of Liberty. The website says: BAR/BAT MITZVAH
Our beautiful Harborview Room is open and airy yet divides easily to allow for a teen area on one side and an adult area overlooking the water so that everyone is sharing the festivities in a single room.
Our first floor cocktail space allows for a separate gaming room for children and our recommended vendors can assist you with any of your entertainment needs.
We can accommodate kosher events if needed and offer both daytime and evening options.
