Make up: What is the best mascara remover? I used to use Simple made in the UK and distributed at Duane Reade. Nobody carries it anymore. It was effective, non greasy. Everything else I have tried it greasy and changes my skin for the next morning and my eye makeup doesn’t sit right. Help!

I liked the CVS eye makeup remover pads with aloe. They were thick pads and so soothing and refreshing. I haven’t seen them in the store lately. But I was just at their website and saw a package of CVS eye makeup remover pads with aloe and green tea. The packaging is not the same, but they might be the same product or similar to the ones they used to carry at the store. It could be that they’ve repackaged them. They are currently on sale for about $3 online.

Baby shampoo or baby oil depending on what I have on hand…I am 59 and no lines around my eyes since I have used either of those two. Good Luck!

I’ve been using Avon Moisture Effective eye makeup remover lotion for about 15 years. It’s very inexpensive. It takes off all types of eye makeup and it’s great for removing those 8 hour lipsticks, too!

I have been using Klorane Wild Cornflower Eye Make-up Remover since high school. They also have a waterproof makeup remover formula also. If you find either formula to be a bit oily, use a damp towel to wipe away excess after use. It can be found on smallflower.com, apothica.com or dermstore.com (and a quite few online sites). I can no longer find it in stores in the states so I typically order it online.

I have been on a quest to find the right mascara remover. For a period of time, I was using L’Oreal eye makeup remover (100% oil free) but it started to sting the skin on my eyelid as I have very sensitive skin. sug. retail $5.49. Currently I am using Neutrogena oil-free eye makeup remover, but I find a lot has to be used to get off the mascara & residue it always left. Both of these can be purchased at a drug store.

Mary Kay makes a great oil-free eye makeup remover but it is expensive at $15 for 3.75 fl. oz. There is no stinging & the mascara is really removed. I am very tempted to go back to this product but I have been trying to find one that is less expensive for my eyes. http://www.marykay.com/skincare/lipeyecare/10029726/10029726/default.aspx

    Good luck!!

    I love mascara, always have.
But, through the years I often wondered what do people use to remove it. Finding a good product was next to impossible.
    Now, that problem is solved.
Avon has a product that is so good, you will wonder how you ever did without it.
    Avon Make Up Wipes.
In expensive , and the very best product on the market.
I create videos once in a while that I am actually talking, same as let’s say a TV show, but, it’s an amateur video on youtube.
So, I wear more makeup than usual for the videos.
Avon Make Up Remover wipes cleans all of it, no matter how heavy the make up is, even water proof.
I stock my cabinet with it, because I simply will not use anything else.
Try it, and I promise, you will recommend it too.
    Best wishes,
    Linda

Oh, I used to LOVE Simple! I’d stock-up on trips to London. However, I’ve used Maybelline Expert Eyes (in the bottle with the blue cap and writing … not the pink) for many, many years and not only has it never irritated my eyes or caused problems the next morning, I’ve never had a client react badly either. It leaves the skin clean and soft, but not oily, and is inexpensive and readily available.
Another product I just recently started using is Make Up For Ever’s Pure Water. It reminds me a bit of the Simple. It takes off everything … eye make-up, the works. It’s just a mild, clear, moisturizing cleansing water with no residue. Make Up For Ever is usually available at larger beauty supplies, some Sephora’s, some department stores, and online.

If you are using a waterproof mascara, a little oil or cream works well. After you put it on a cotton pad and remove the mascara, simply follow up with your regular cleanser.
On the other hand, if you are using a non-waterproof mascara, soap and water or a good milk-based cleanser work. I prefer Neutrogena Deep Skin Cleanser. But most cleansers will do.
The real thing here is how you remove your eye makeup. If you use cotton pads (round or square) you will have fewer problems with morning-after grease buildup.
    Good luck,
    Maria

Being English/American I grew up using Simple products & it used to be the only thing I could use! Products are so well allergy tested these days that nothing bothers me anymore! Or maybe I just got old lol! My absolute favorite is Lancome’s Bi-facil. I know it is half oil so you do have to shake it well before use. For some reason it does get less oily as you use it. Then all you have to do is rinse with water afterwards. You can rinse your entire face or just wet your cotton pad & wipe! If you can do this it will be better for your eye area as it won’t be as drying as the other oil free ones, but if you do want to go that way Clinique makes an excellent one which is non oily. Good luck & I was sure I saw Simple Products in the Uk when I was there this summer, is it just the remover which is discontinued?

I love Camomile (the company’s spelling) Gentle Eye Make-up Remover which you can find at http://www.thebodyshop-usa.com and Maybelline Expert Eyes oil free eye make-up removerwhich you buy at any drugstore. They are both affordable (approximately $4.00) and do not leave any oily residue. They both work really well on non-waterproof make-up. For water proof make-up, I use Camomile Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover by Body Shop (around $14.50). Hope this helps 🙂

The best eye makeup remover I have ever used is Avon Moisture Effective Eye Makeup Remover. It is creamy, not oily. Takes off even waterproof mascara, but is gentle on the delicate eye area.

My customers love it too! The regular price is $4.00, but when it is on sale for .99 cents my customers stock up.

I like Clinique Rinse Off Eye Makeup Solvent-it’s the blue bottle, not the pink. I like a liquid that isn’t greasy and this feels like water on your skin. Avon makes a lotion remover that is nice and affordable if you like a creamy feel, but personally the Clinique remover is my favorite because it’s so lightweight, but effective.
